  1. What would be a fair price for McCann?
  2. Four hypotheses. No idea if the data backs either up, but this is where I would start: 1. Have the Twins overvalued LHP? How often have the Twins taken a less talented LHP instead of a more talented RHP? 2. In the 00s and early 10s, when the size of the strike zone was growing, were the Twins scouts and minor league coaches still emphasizing control over missing bats? 3. What is the internal review of personnel - scouts and coaches? What are their track records of success and failure? Does that review process need to be updated or improved (or abandoned)? 4. How have injuries hampered their efforts? Have the Twins been more/less hurt by injuries? Can we discern any patterns related to "profiles" they target, or coaching/mechanical techniques they teach?
  3. For starters, drivers licenses can be years old. So using outdated photos to eliminate possible suspects for a crime committed 4 days ago seems like a great way to let the perp fall through your fingers. I know that's no great loss in your mind, but that's more of a legal debate. Today the police are still charged with pursuing criminals to the fullest extent the law allows. And a broken tail light is an offense they can legally stop you for (I should know, its happened to me). What do you mean "2) the person is not actually the suspect and he registered the car under his name, and his driver's license can be compared to the suspect's, and lack of identification can be confirmed. (And no engagement is necessary.)" Do you think the police already know the IDs of the perps? And I don't presume Castile was the perp. I do think its impossible to 100% rule him out, based on the information we're aware of, and stopping him seemed justified, because like a lot of people, I want the police pursuing armed criminals.
  4. Do you think people who are inclined to commit armed robbery are the types to follow through with transferring the title on their vehicles and keeping registrations correct and up to date? I mean, call me prejudiced but I think you might have a self-selecting sample here of people that are more inclined to be driving someone else's car. And if the car is theirs, the title/registration not current.
  5. I don’t know the answer to those questions, I would be curious to know. But I’m not arguing the outcome, it was tragic obviously. The traffic stop itself however wasn’t just some 1930s throwback level racism of see black guy, stop black guy. The officer had a specific reason for stopping him, that being he fit the general description of a suspect in an armed robbery that had occurred 1.5 miles down the road 4 days prior. Checking that person’s ID seems like justifiable police work, unless you don’t want the police to pursue these sort of crimes at all I guess.
  6. There are two suspects in the Jul 2 armed robbery at the station store on Larpenteur & Eustis. Both young black males with shoulder length hair and facial hair. Philando clearly isn't one of the suspects, but there's not a good security cam-photo of the 2nd suspect, not one that's public anyway. Perhaps "wideset nose" was a description given by the station store clerk in lieu of a better security photo? Castile (RIP) was a young black male with shoulder length hair, facial hair, a fairly wideset nose, and he was driving on Larpenteur, a few days after the robbery. Are you okay with the police not pulling that guy over?
  7. Excellent color man. He and Provus have a great rapport IMO.
  8. I'm just trying to get a handle on his true power. I'm not implying his HRs were cheap because of which park they were hit in or how many rows up they landed. Obviously if it clears the fence, even by a little, it counts as a HR. Kepler is on a 30/HR year pace, do you think that's evident of his "true" HR power?
  9. That tool also says Mauer had ZERO lucky HRs in 2009.
  10. This lineup is so much better with Sano back in it. I vote 35.
  11. Fair point. I'm just sick of waiting on prospects for 2-3 years to figure out MLB pitching. So many of them never do. Also, we have Gordon, our 2014 1st round pick, whose MLB debut should lineup pretty close to the expiration of Dozier's contract (knock on wood).
  12. Yeah that overhang. Don't get me wrong I love that Kepler's off to a strong start but those are some cheap home runs. 2009 Mauer anyone?
  13. Maybe the Twins trainer should go out and check on the Rangers MI
  14. Pretty epic meltdown going on here.
  15. I could be squinting too hard, but it kinda looks like Rosario is putting together, ever so slightly more competitive at-bats lately.
  16. Because Taylor Rogers is next up.
  17. Fielder blowing a perfectly good tag opportunity on Rosario there. He keeps losing contact with the bag!
  18. Odor is a player. Reminds me of Rosario.
  19. Wow. How do we pwn the Rangers so hard lol.
  20. Agreed. Hi def slo-mo replay + new rules protecting fielders from contact = asking a hell of a lot from baserunners. Not that it should have mattered in this case.
  21. I don't know why Mauer shouldn't be able to hold his own at 3B. He can field balls at 1B no problem. And we know he can make the throw from 3rd to first no problem because its the same throw as home to 2nd. That would give them some additional flexibility.
  22. I believe the next play criteria had been met, no?
  23. Boy I hope you're right. He has been a butcher the last week though. Go back and watch that rain delayed Jul 5 condensed game on mlb.com. Its full of Sano gaffes. Lucky for him I don't think more a few dozen people saw them at the time.
