  1. Gattis looks looks like he should swing an axe bat too
  2. Closed circuit to Duff: shed the necklace
  3. Those are interesting cases to use when talking about patience because Dozier and Plouffe came through the system as SS's and were moved to easier positions after fairly limited MLB action- 83 games for Dozier and 55 for Plouffe. A similar level of patience for Sano would be the remainder of 2016. Not sure if that's all you meant in terms of patience or if you thought that should extend into 2017.
  4. With Gomez the Twins and Gardy had a preconceived idea that since was fast, he should be a slap hitter. But that's not who he was. Read the Dozier article on fangraphs. Finding out who you are as a hitter is important. Its still not clear to me what kind of hitter Buxton is, I doubt he knows. I suspect he is more of a slugger than a Revere, Willy Mays Hayes type, but less than Gomez. Right now the Twins seem to be molding him into a power/speed combo with a long swing and a lot of bunting, and neither of them is working.
  5. Any recommendations for market podcasts? I listen to Learning Markets, which is great, but they're only ~15 mins each.
  6. Miguel's fielding percentage in the majors is now equal to what it was in the minors (.902). That equates to roughly 50-55 errors over a full season. Its a tall order to ask Molitor to put up with that for an entire season, especially if they're competitive. That said I agree Sano should be plan A but Mauer and Polanco should take reps at third too as backup plans. Mauer especially, because it would be great if Polanco could stick at short (I still have no read on his defense).
  7. Twins are 8-2-1 in last 11 series.
  8. You have to be freaking kidding me.
  9. Next year's Ray's rotation looks to be Archer Cobb Odorizzi Snell Andriese With Hu and I dunno, probably a dozen other high quality pitching specs in the wings.
  10. He was on an 80 pitch count limit. They've been stretching him out since trading Matt Moore.
  11. Sanos pop-up the first to hit the trop roof in fair territory, ever. Roughly 220 feet high according to Phil Miller's teitter
  12. Could be. On the other hand guys wouldn't throw back to back to back days like they do now, so maybe they could go full blast, longer, knowing they should have at least a day, and possibly three to recover. Another possibility is that you liquidate the one inning/setup/closer types for fledgling borderline 5th starters, who are typically dirt cheap. The Swarzaks, Alfredo Simon, Tommy Milones of the game, and round out the 6-11 spots that way.
  13. Yeah, I love Rosario but he's no Buxton in Center. And Grossman's no Rosario in left. And Santana, well, there'd be a lot more Santana if the Twins can't get Buxton going I'm afraid.
  14. Not trying to hijack your idea but I threw out a similar idea about a year ago: pitchers as a lineup. "Bat" your best pitchers first, second, etc. If a guy is rolling let him go 6+ IP (or until the game ends), but remove SP and RP titles and don't play matchups (but you might write out your lineup L-R-L-R) I see two main benefits: 1. by the same logic that says "the best relievers are failed starters," then the best starters should be, in general, even better relievers. 2. spreadout workload and rest to carry fewer pitchers. A team could easily carry 11, maybe 10 pitchers this way.
  15. Seriously. You don't have to be Parker Hageman to see this. Any high school coach would have him shortened up by now.
  16. SEND HIM DOWN I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE
  17. Eh hem. What if a well below average looking male made that association? http://media3.giphy.com/media/RytO3f9CSqL2U/giphy.gif
  18. Thank god we sac bunted the runner over first.
  19. Buxton has to feel about 2 foot tall about now.
  20. Haha the Rays giveaway to kids 14 and under... I always wanted one of these when I was a lad
  21. What do we think, TD. Does this Snell kid have a future?
  22. Late on the fastball, hopeless against the breaking ball. Would someone, anyone, coach this kid.
  23. IIRC Sano had a sure HR taken away by the catwalk earlier this year.
  24. How do you get Dozier out anymore?
