  1. I do agree that if the Twins knew they weren't going to make the playoffs and Jepsen would terrible the next year they wouldn't make that trade. As often mentioned, the problem wasn't that trade, it was that it was the only one. Similarly, if Garcia is the only addition by the front office that would be a failure.
  2. Hu is a swing man, that trade is not going to hurt the Twins long term.
  3. Garcia trade really makes it unlikely Slegers gets a mlb start this year.
  4. I approve if the deal. Seems rentals are cheap if the team takes on the money. They should do some similar deals for relievers.
  5. I probably trust Gibson more too, but Santiago isn't currently pitching. I would prefer Garcia to Colon at the moment.
  6. Which is fair, but there aren't exactly boatloads of talented starters available. Small, incremental upgrades count too.
  7. I'm pro trade. A move like Garcia is exactly what they should do, and a similar move or two with the pen.
  8. Somehow the Twins have always rebounded this season when on the mat, but this weekend really feels like it could be the end. Bungled a trade, played ugly against a team starting to sell and now headed to the best team in baseball. Go get em boys.
  9. Isn't that Chiefs point? I personally think half measures are fine this year. Contra this post, I would find Garcia to be of some substance, and would like a couple of relievers in the same mold. Not sure what pr it actually brings, but I think there is value in propping up a young team and trying to compete until the end of the season.
  10. This is exactly the sort of trade a team in the Twins position should make. And yes, if this is too much, no chance ever for a trade.
  11. The lesson is that there is minimal difference between all front offices when it comes tomin season moves and roster management. Falvey and Levine aren't wizards, they have the same constraints Ryan worked with.
  12. That's only trades that got leaked prematurely. Twins are 0 for <undefined> under the new front office. But fear not, when they make a trade, I'm sure you'll hear about it.
  13. I agree. I wasn't saying that to be critical, you rated Burdi appropriately (imo). I was surprised that Burdi would have been enough. If reports are true, he must have more value than any of us realized.
  14. I agree with this. Rogers hasn't been a specialist all year, he's pitched against both lh and rh. He's the best reliever, correct spot to use him.
  15. The first question is certainly interesting and probably unknowable by non front office people. The second part is certainly interesting, but probably moot if the Braves aren't willing to take on Burdi. Perhaps Seth underrated Burdi?
  16. Possible, but Rosenthal's explanation seems pretty straightforward.
  17. It had to be something beyond the tj. If the Braves didn't like the medicals it would absolutely blow up the trade.
  18. Smart risk for the Braves if there hadn't been anything worse. Alas.
  19. Makes a lot of sense. Wonder what would cause the Braves to hesitate. Perhaps the damage he had beyond the tj.
