  1. If it was Thorpe and they balked, that would be a blunder by the Braves imo. There would have to be something really bad.
  2. The only truly inexplicable thing with this front office. I would really like to hear an explanation.
  3. I'll make my own unfounded assumption, makes me wonder if it was Melotakis or another injured reliever. Can't imagine it was Thorpe.
  4. It's almost like this saga gave everyone a blank slate to dump on the Twins front office all of their grievances and assumptions, real or imagined. Win/win all around.
  5. Seems the issue came from the Twins prospect:
  6. Probably the missing piece in this deal.
  7. I wouldn't say I'm worried about the reputation yet, but it is interesting that the Twins have yet to make a player for player trade since the new regime took over.
  8. It's been mentioned before, but it's awesome they have a minor leaguer named Joe Cronin.
  9. I know this isn't the biggest blockbuster, but how can there be such a lag between announcing the trade and the actual return. Let's go here.
  10. Agree. This would be a reasonable price.
  11. That's the point right? People are going to be upset.
  12. It will definitely be someone most of us are familiar with. A solid depth piece. Garcia has decent value.
  13. It would be an inspiring move for sure. Getting Verlander would move the needle in (casual) interest in the team over the rest of the season, resulting in some financial windfall for the team. While he's a little overpaid and there's some risk, he's not a corpse out there.
  14. If he finishes the season healthy and pitching effectively, would think he almost certainly starts the season at Chattanooga.
  15. I think they are all fine in AA right now. The only exception I would see is if they are planning on bringing Romero into the mlb pen, might want to give him some AAA time. I don't think AAA is a waste, but I don't think it matters a ton where their reps are happening at the moment.
  16. I've even give something up, like a Gonsalves, maybe another piece.
  17. I would say really good. It takes a pretty big stretch to find anyone not promoted as they should be within a couple of weeks.
  18. That's completely backwards for the players referenced. Players in A ball are usually just learning to get through a full professional season. There is also the need for players to face teams multiple times to learn how teams adjust against them. Shifting guys around can prevent adjustments from being made. A good college guy like Rooker can blow through it (and often do), but a hs/international guy needs that time and reps. The elite, elite hs/international guys (like Buxton) might conquer low a and high a in a full season, but that is incredibly fast moving. AAA is a holding tank for major league depth, especially on the position player side. If they have mastered AA, there is little to learn in AAA that can't be learned in the majors.
  19. I think there is a lot to this. Gonsalves is a year and a half older too. If he stays healthy the rest of the year, Thorpe is going to jump up lists. Perhaps the top pitching prospect in the Twins system.
  20. If Thorpe finishes out the season on this pace, I think he has to start entering conversation as best pitching prospect in the system.
  21. There is a difference between draft year and first full season.
  22. Rogers had a cameo in April and was up for good by mid-May. That's a reasonable timeline. I do endorse the rest of the plan. Breslow does nothing for the franchise now or in the future.
  23. He pitched better than I thought. I would give him at least one more.
