  1. Profar? He hasn't been eligible for a prospect list since 2013. One downside of Profar is he's accrued so much service time while on the dl, so I think he only has 2 years of control left. Might be 3.
  2. Another thing I heard today that I didn't realize is that all the players freely and fully cooperates from day one with the police and the university. I don't think that happens very often. I think it is wrong to look at the players behavior merely as supporting teammates who assaulted someone or even condoning the behavior. Seems it goes much deeper and there is a real sense of betrayal from the football team. All of which is of course unimportant if there was an assault, but from what I've gleaned I'm a little skeptical. Also fascinating to me that Claeys and the staff are so public in their support of the players. I think there's little chance they survive this. Perhaps they read the writing on the wall.
  3. Reusse weighs in, adds a few more layers. http://m.startribune.com/clash-of-powerful-social-forces-or-maybe-a-feud-roil-u-waters/407164706/ I didn't really think too much about the optics of 10 black players and one white girl, but I imagine that's a thing too.
  4. Yes, but he provides value now. For me it would be taking the risk of better return at midseason or even the small chance that the team would be a fringe contender behind him as being worth more than that type of return now.
  5. Agree that there is risk in holding him. I would just want something different than a mid-rotation AA arm. They have enough of those (assuming the Dozier trade happens).
  6. If that's all you're getting for Santana, I wouldn't move him right now. I wouldn't be in a hurry to move him anyways, if he stays healthy he'll have more value in July.
  7. The question for Profar is whether he will rebound, not whether he can play. This is why he can potentially be had. The question for Perkins is whether he can actually pitch.
  8. This strikes me as a dangerous precedent, but perhaps this will be a one off event. Again, I'm only going on the full report that I read, which may be missing a few details, but seemed pretty thorough (graphically thorough).
  9. Count me in on the Profar idea too. Might even make sense too.
  10. I 100% agree with this, but I find it important not to mix this opinion with what should be the consequence against the football players should be. I also wouldn't want my son expelled if he didn't engage in a criminal act. It also seems possible/likely some of the players suspended didn't even engage in the act but were only in the same room. I really wouldn't want my son suspended/expelled for that.
  11. Man, just read parts of that report. That is hard reading and truly terrible behavior. That said, I can see why no charges were filed. Even with the a favorable reading towards the young woman, it's not exactly clear that she ever was clear that she didn't want to engage in the acts, at least as the law would be concerned. I do appreciate that the university might have a different standard though.
  12. You're mixing up Ian Kinsler and Brandon Kintzler.
  13. I'm not thinking Santana to Dodgers. Separate deals. But there was talk about Dodgers potentially improving the prospect haul if the Twins took on a contract. Moving Santana could make that more doable.
  14. I wonder if they could combine a Santana trade with taking a salary dump ( such as McCarthy) from the Dodgers to replace some of the innings and increase the return all around, all while not bumping payroll.
  15. Thanks for that perspective. There is an awful lot to wrap our heads around with this story. I wonder if this is a case of the EOAA overstepping, turning a sad situation into a complete clustermess.
  16. Fair enough, I basically made up a number. Haven't thought about the org much, but haven't really needed to for a while. But yes, Dozier. Another nice little leak to Heyman.
  17. Plus what else is there really to talk about?
  18. I think other prospect lists weigh close to the majors a little more than Fangraphs. (Or more accurately discount prospects more that are further away). Could be the reason for the difference.
  19. The other benefit of Kendall would be that he should be a more straightforward signing, probably with a decent discount, so they would be able to spread that savings around a little bit. Might allow for some investment in high upside hs arms at 35 and 37 with a "safer" 1-1 pick.
  20. I like our new front office and they'll make good changes, but they still strike me as pretty risk adverse. It will be too difficult to pass up the legit college bat.
  21. My hot take is unless a college pitcher really, really blows up the Twins will take Kendall. But it will be fun talking about it between now and then.
  22. Life comes at you fast...But good to be back.
  23. Or invest the money more productively.
  24. I think Kintzler and Pressly would be representative setup men to start a season, let the young guys fill in behind and earn their way into bigger roles. Does seem a veteran closer is missing. And a no brainer way for a rebuilding club to acquire assets by flipping midseason.
  25. Good name.
