  1. He's obviously better than Slama, but that is an interesting comp in that the AAA numbers might show something that is not going to be there in the bigs.
  2. Law just had De Leon as #73. http://www.espn.com/blog/keith-law/insider/post?id=6178 Maybe there is a reason the Dodgers were looking to move him.
  3. I predict liberals will have renewed focus this midterm. Always easiest to unite in opposition. The flip side of gerrymandering is if you hit a certain number it can turn into a rout. Just need to offer something people want to buy. It's not like Trump and the Rs are popular. And they aren't going to get more so.
  4. And I would emphasize the desperation in this equation.

    Twins win

  7. I wonder if the Dodgers had this deal in their back pocket for a while and just never budged with the Twins.
  8. My biggest concern is his durability. To me that is why a significant second piece had to be on the table. I do hope it leaks out.
  9. Does make me wonder about De Leon too.
  10. I agree with you. Seems like a good move both ways. Will be interesting to see what gets leaked out for a Dozier offer.
  11. Republican controlled Houses pass all kinds of teh crazy. Not getting through the Senate.
  12. Hurting at this exact moment, sure, but far from ready to say it will end up being a negative overall.
  13. My biggest concern is still giving Russia a whole lot of concessions for not a whole lot back. Really would hamper a lot of foreign policy going forward and destabilize important international agreements. Less stable relations generally leads to lots of violence. Our country can recover from and reverse bad policies. Violence is violence.
  14. No Dodgers
  15. Huge deficits for sure, but I don't think much of ACA will get repealed. Some tweaks, the repealing of the funding mechanism (read huge tax cuts for wealthy) and a re-branding. But they aren't going to cut health care for 20 million. The federal land and oil drilling can't change much in 4 years. If the American people don't want it, vote him out and 4 years and put a halt to it.
  16. Law has started his Top 100. 81-100 today: http://www.espn.com/blog/keith-law/insider/post?id=6172 87. Kohl Stewart 91. Stephen Gonsalves 97. Alex Kiriloff Stubbornly remains the high man on Stewart. I suspect other lists will have Kiriloff higher than Law.
  17. Still think they need to add a reliever (or two). Looks like Greg Holland, Joe Blanton, Sergio Romo and Fernando Salad are the best options left. Not sexy, but any of those could be worthwhile and potentially an option to flip if they rebuild value.
  18. There's fractures all around. I'm not sure it is any more a problem on the left than the right. Obama was certainly a talented politician, but when faced with what is now hitting them in the face, the left will unify much more in the next cycles than they were in 2016. And they will face a right that I suspect will not stay all that together.
  19. I never had a chance to see the resort side, spent my time up in the hills or next to the sugar fields with Haitian refugees. Now that is poverty. It was certainly cheap to build and it will be cheap to keep staffed. So on the plus side it will create some local jobs.
  20. Considering how the drafts have played out, Stewart and Gordon seem acceptable to me. What is really going to haunt the Twins is taking Jay when Benintendi was snapped up with the next pick. Missing out on college bats that good and advanced for the chance to convert a reliever into a starter is a huge miss. But overall, I think the drafts have not really been a problem. What has really hurt the Twins is they have really not been aggressive in trading assets for prospects and after 2009 they have not gone all that big in the international market. Really not fully taking advantage of two avenues to talent procurement. Dozier situation aside, I think this will be the most significant upgrade with the new front office - much more aggressive in talent acquisition from all sources.
  21. I've found I like Fleck a lot more when I get to watch his results and not hear him speak.
  22. There's a reason politics generally go in cycles. Much easier to unify against something than stay unified when you actually need to govern. Dems seem fractured now, but there will be enough to rally around going forward for the midterms and 2020.
