  1. It might cost them a chance to be a sneaky contender too, much lesd flip for assets. Even with a couple good innings, I still don't understand Belisle. So much meh.
  2. Since I can't edit my post to fully fete TheLeviathan, let me repeat that he is a genius and his Twins and baseball knowledge should never be questioned.
  3. They absolutely failed in bullpen additions this offseason.
  4. Owned EDIT: You beat me to it, I pulled this from another forum.
  5. Fair enough. I don't remember any call for Storen but I'll trust your word.
  6. One reason the talk of a Santiago extension is so silly. There are going to be some options amd Twins should have some money, with Santiago/Perkins/other small contracts coming off the books, and only 1 more year of Mauer.
  7. That would be uninspiring. I don't really have a problem with having a veteran placeholder until a decision has to be made, but it would seem both Berrios has done enough to get a shot.
  8. I don't care much about the previous front office's way of operating anymore. I certainly would not fault the current front office if a free agent reliever signing failed, in fact I wanted much more aggression. Just that Storen was way down on my list, and he didn't even strike me as much of an upside play (though admittedly better than Belisle, who I wanted no part of). Holland was #1.
  9. This strikes me as a hindsight complaint (not you, the original post on Storen). Look at all the relievers who were signed last year, pick one who is doing well, and saying the Twins should have signed him. Well, no bleep. If teams knew he would bounce back like this he would have gotten 2-3 years at more money per year. I'm not an mlb evaluator but I thought he was heading the wrong way and was an injury risk. There were other pitchers I was hoping the Twins would go after. We'll see, it's still early.
  10. He'd be nice, but he wasn't that good last year and good reason to believe he won't make it through the year healthy. I wanted a better reliever than Belisle, but I'm not surprised they passed on Storen.
  11. Twins need to find a team that doesn't use advanced statistical analysis, traditional statistical analysis or scouting.
  12. I'll just copy Seth's tweet, but probably has to be Berrios when a #5 starter is needed on Saturday.
  13. I'm pro keeping Gibson around for the rest of the year. I just don't see it anymore. It's a shame too, he was the pitcher I had highest hopes for coming into the season. Too hittable, too much nibbling, not enough swing and miss. Tough combo to be successful with.
  14. Just good enough to hang around for a couple more starts.
  15. Im admittedly not a huge fan, but the Vikes are in trouble. 7 wins would be a good outcome.
  16. Did Terry Ryan actually say that about salaries? I couldn't find a quote from him about it.
  17. When baseball figures out the agreement to allow lift the local blackout they'll be really set. It is pretty interesting what a small percent of revenues comes from national contracts. MLB is actually quite cutting edge with the revenue they get from advanced media. Will prop them up if/when rights fees drop.
  18. Those three have physical concerns more than mental or emotional. I don't think it's quite as easy as you suggest, but I'm skeptical of references to mental side holding people back too, especially when they have talent.
  19. Luckily that is limited to sports.
  20. I certainly understand why teams would desire to go younger, that is a striking graph. I just wonder how much it is actually happening. We certainly have tunnel vision on the Twins with not enough context from other teams. I have a suspicion that the idea of players debuting younger and younger is something that is being repeated (because it is desirable) but isn't actually happening. And it is getting repeated enough, popping up in anecdotal stories, and is now being believed as an actual trend.
  21. I agree that he would be a little disappointing as a 1-1 arm. I'm curious if his bat is good enough to justify that ranking. I hadn't considered it until I saw Callis ranking. I wonder if McKay and Greene are being a little overrated because they are so good both ways. I'd go Wright. High floor, still has upside, could be up relatively quickly. Obviously need to see the rest of the season.
  22. Sure, there are always guys who do that, for decades. I'm not especially interested in outliers, more curious about broader trends.
  23. You've mentioned this a couple of times, do you have a link to the research on this? I'd like to dig into the numbers a little bit. I'm curious if this is actually true. I suspect that older pitchers are not hanging on as long (a consequence of PEDs), but I'm a little skeptical that the total number of pitchers debuting earlier has changed much. More are in the later 20s instead of mid 30s so that is dragging down the total age.
  24. That second point would be fun.
  25. Not going to be Chargois taking his spot for a while.
