  1. Now if we could just open up the other corner and move on....
  2. Of course pitchers get hurt mostly while pitching. I would suggest the guys handing out 300M dollar contracts don't care what the number of non-pitching injuries is so long as it is more than 0%. They are being paid to pitch, not pull a muscle flailing around at the plate or on the bases. We're already heard owners and GMs bitter about it, the days are numbered.
  3. The "joy of pitchers hitting" is the rare moment when it matters? Sort of the definition of the "exception proves the rule" - no? It's coming. It'll happen in the next ten years because both sides of the CBA want it.
  4. I think the impetus will be much more about the injuries pitchers suffer while doing non-pitching things on the field as a result of being forced to hit. Those are huge investments being injured doing something they aren't being paid to provide. The owners will squash it and the players union will be happy to add more jobs for hitters.
  5. The end of pitchers batting. I think it's a reality within ten years and the game will be better for it.
  6. Let's put ABW in perspective - again - for those of you that dismiss the strikeouts. Chris Carter, currently of the Brewers, is a career 770 OPS player who averages 200 strikeouts (About a 33% K rate per PA) in the big leagues. In the minors he K'd at a rate of about 23% with an OPS of about .913. Walker? His K-rate is 30% in the minors and his OPS is only .796. So if Chris Carter, a markedly superior player with a less significant K-rate in the minors, is struggling like he is......just how awful would Walker be? You're talking about a sub .600 OPS player who, if given 600 ABs, would probably strikeout close to 300 times. He's not a top prospect. He's probably not even a prospect at all. That K-rate makes him a non-factor.
  7. I wanted to see him go. I'm sure he'll find a job elsewhere, so it's nothing personal, but at some point our favorite team parts ways with everyone. This one was a year overdue, but good luck in his next stop to Trevor.
  8. We should make him have a funeral for his time as VP in that case....
  9. I got to watch a rare Wolves game last night as an out of towner....man, he's taken the next step. He and Towns are going to be scary good.
  10. Surprised? No....but could he be handling this any worse? He's having the establishment come by to kiss his ring and beg before he hands it to his inner circle of Dunce Monkeys. It's the worst scenario. I'm not surprised, but every now and then I allow myself to hope too.
  11. The appointments so far seem to indicate the positive news is lipservice. Ugh.
  12. I really don't see Garver being a factor to consider until late 2017, probably 2018. Seems like plenty of time to have a capable defensive stud back there helping out pitchers in the meantime.
  13. Communist.
  14. I wish the FA market offered more attractive homes to flip. Everything on the market is rubble. But where there are options are with guys like Gomez and the bullpen guys. Target that.
  15. Maybe. I see this as being about change and something different. Warren is great, but isn't something clearly different in presentation and has a far more limited profile with many of Obama's voters. I get why people want to think she would have been better, but I'm not even sure she could match Bernie's effort in the primary much less as a national candidate.
  16. "Most" voters had their mind made up before the primaries. We're at a point where a narrow set of voters decide the election because of how polarized so many are already. Warren wasn't going to expand the left's base much IMO.
  17. Well, some of that could be rumor, but they got the 7th guy in the Astro's farm for an aging catcher being paid way too much money. I think they did well.
  18. Yes, he'd be a fraud, but the alternative sounds like Guiliani or Gingrich. So....fraud away Mitt! Please!
  19. The more sane, reasonable, even keel people that are in his cabinet the better I'll feel. Especially for THAT position.
  20. With a little extra on it. And probalby not for only one year either.
  21. Sano at 3B as of now. That's reassuring.
  22. Holy crap that's exactly what I thought of when I saw this title....
  23. Reddick got significantly more than the FA Tracker estimated, most contracts are higher at this point. The return on McCann was also pretty significant.
