    I agree wholeheartedly with all of Hans's @Hans BirkelandStray Observations. It's painful for me to watch Wallner's at bats anymore and his fielding is scary as well. Provus asked Plouffe about bat speed and he wisely said that there are so many more aspects to a good swing that bat speed his overrated in many cases (I'm paraphrasing) Wallner's a prime example.

    A lot of fans are disappointed but the starting rotation should be downright pissed. Definite downgrade in defense and run support will be pathetic.

    I really enjoyed it. Even when the Cubbys crushed the Twinkies yesterday. I found myself smiling and laughing all throughout the game where normally I would be crying and cursing. I missed Tuesday. I might go back and watch the recording if I can find it.

    This is spot-on: "Castro fouled another ball off his body, and for the 647th time this season, was evaluated by trainer Nick Paparesta. It's hard to keep track of where Castro is banged up at this point, but he has not looked good in quite a while. Kody Clemens can provide almost as much defensively as Castro and has been scorching hot at the plate, so the loyalty to Castro seems misplaced at this point. Clemens is a lefty hitter, but Castro has been so bad from the right side (.591 OPS) I don't feel that distinction matters." I love Willi but he gets overplayed.
