  1. He did not play for his National Team. That would had been team USA. Check his passport if you don't believe me And he did not play much. They just sat him on the bench most of the spring
  2. All of those guys are RHPs. Wilk is a lefty
  3. Bakersfield, CA. My favorite Rolling Stones' song is kinda about that town
  4. Pretty pathetic. Melotakis at Chattanooga on the other hand....
  5. This is in relevance on how teams (vs the commissioner's office) see the WBC. Nothing to do with Berrios, other than his bad choices...
  6. The Twins are a game over .500 in the division. That's all it matters. And they are just behind Cleveland in the Standings, leading the race for the second wild card spot. Have I told you a month and a half ago, that the Twins will be here on May 10th, would you complain? Gee!
  7. Sure. On paper. Real life differs from paper...
  8. Back to Wilfk: What could have possible the Twins seen in him? I'd ignore his last 2 MLB games. I'd ignore his numbers at PCL this season. And I cannot get Korean splits. Here are the splits I get at his last 3 seasons in International League (AAA) against lefties: 2016: 0.57 WHIP, 29.3% K%, 0 BB% 2014: 1.07 WHIP, 25.7% K%, 5% BB% 2012: 0.97 WHIP, 29.1 K%, 5.1 BB% As a starter. I'd say that's quasi eye opening. And might get better as a reliever. Rogers, Breslow and Buddy B are the LHRPs the Twins have right now. I don't mind them rolling the dice for possible something better here. That's all. Dice roll...
  9. In this division heavy schedule, what matters is the bottom line: Wins within the division and overall standings.
  10. Well, if you all remember, during Spring Training, I kept saying that Berrios leaving the Twins to go and "pitch" (he warmed the bench) with his island's team in the WBC, while others were busting their rears to win a spot in the Twins' team, was neither the smart choice nor something that I would recommend to a person in his position... But there were a lot of "national pride" and "someone's nation should mean more than his team" (as if PR were a different nation to begin with) replies... Guess Berrios is learning a hard lesson: If he shows the Twins that making the Twins is not his number 1 priority, the Twins will act like him making the Twins is not his number 1 priority. You got to walk the talk and Berrios did not. How long will he keep getting punished for it? I don't know, but if I were Berrios or Berrios's agent, I'd have a meeting with the Twins brass, explain my priorities and apologize for previous bad choices. But I am not Berrios or his agent.
  11. I watched Wheeler pitch on Monday. Horrible is a compliment for the way he was pitching...
  12. At the point that the Twins are not competing. As long as they are competing I will be giving them the benefit of the doubt. What matters is the standings. So far so good.
  13. So what is that "Reset Button". Only on the title. Pressly has another option left. Is that the "reset button"? If so, count me in....
  14. I was at the Rochester game last night and was not really impressed. Matt Hague was the only one who did any hitting, but was on the receiving end of 3 of the errors that were from mediocre to bad throws to 1st base. Slegers has 2 pitches: a straight 90-92 mph fastball and a 83-86 off-speed thing that looks like a cutter but could be a changeup. Not that much velocity difference than the fastball to be effective. Wimmers was throwing put junk out there 82-89. The softer stuff was commanded better (I think again that it was change, but have a hard time to call it that if only 5 mph from the fastball.) Wish he would have been better in the pen. Busenitz was a breath of fresh air. Good FB at 94-96 and a 82-84 mph change that was an out pitch yesterday. I will not be surprised if we see him up North some time soon. I did not see Turley. It was 51 degrees and blowing by then
  15. Sure. Drew Butera was turned into Miguel Sulbaran who was turned into Eduardo Nunez who was turned into Adalberto Mejia. Butera for Mejia, thus, it's a Twins' win
  16. Just saw this Gotta say: Greene is spotting $300+ of free gear in that shot. Which makes live suck for the good but unknown prospects (and the one that I hope the Twins are after...) Totally lame, btw. If I did not want another reason for the Twins not to draft him
  17. That one was not even close. I'd love to see Palacios gets promoted when Arraez comes out of the DL, because a middle infield with those 2 would be fun to watch.
  18. There is no objective way that says that Berrios pitched better than Turley. Any.way.you.cut.it. Period.
  19. One can sub "MLB" for "AL Central" and, using these arguments, would be correct, year in and year out That's how baseball happens.
  20. I would, but why would Sano do it? Plouffe got about $15 million in arbitration. Why should not Sano get 25? and then a cool 6/$25M per? That is about $175M in 10 years or 17.5 M annual value. For the Twins to be close to make anything happen, the magic number would be 8 years (maybe 1 with a mutual option) and that will take care up to his age 32 season and at about $15M annual value (of course structured heavier for his later years.) So we are looking at an 8 yr/ $120M situation for a reasonable extension...
  21. He needs: a major league second pitcha major league third pitchmore movement to his fastball. Downside: He ends up like Tonkin with one less pitch
  22. $500K and $750K is a ridiculous amount and will make zero difference in who the Twins will draft. So far every single mock draft (actually both, because there are only 2 out: BA and Scouts.com) have them draft McCay, and I cannot blame them. Their logic goes like this: His ceiling is not that far from Greene'sHe is left-handedUnlike Greene, he has 4 MLB-ready pitchesHe could be in an MLB rotation in 2018 or 2019Unlike Greene, he has very little possibility to bomb, and a brand new Front Office cannot stand to bomb their first 1-1 selection. I will be surprised if they do not draft McCay, baring any injuries of meteors from now till then.
