I think that we are getting way into semantics, if Gardy said "alright" instead of "fantastic", I suspect that there would have been no issue, if that was the only comment that was said. If additional stuff was added about how good he was etc etc, then I do understand. On the other hand you expect some sort of transparency out there just at least to see if the person who is making those comments (the manager in this case) is connected to reality. If he said that: "Correia struggled a bit in the beginning then pitched fantastic under nasty conditions until he ran out of gas late in the game", it would had been much more accurate. He skipped the first and the last part... Still much better than throwing players under the bus, or (like a certain beloved by many former Twins player did) be all smiles after the loss in game 163 vs the Sux and saying "oh well, we will get them next year, we had a good run, you lose some, you win some", while he was big part of the loss because he did not want to get his uniform dirty...

Gametime stats on AA games are like Gametime stats on ST games. No balls thrown means no walks, practically...

He is what he is. A bottom of the rotation guy who got overhyped by DickNBert. BTW, if you look at numbers like WHIP, K/9 and K/BB DeVries was better than Diamond last season. But the Twins look at W-L and ERA.

It looks like the Astros will take Moran, per multiple sources, so the Twins would really have a choice to make. I assume that either Gray or Appel to the Cubs and Bryant to Colorado, and that leaves one of the 2 "big" college pitchers. I'd still take Manaea for the reasons I explained here. If one of the aforementioned pitchers can throw left handed, I'd change my mind

Those lists are more of an art than a science, but I think that Baxendale is way too low and (you got to admit that if he were not a Gopher ) Mike Kvasnicka does not belong in the list. Colabello and Slama are better prospects (and they are not prospects.)

I am pleasantly surprised by the OF play of Parmelee, just because the first time I saw him play the OF (Spring Training 3 or 4 years ago as a fill in with the big team) was awful. Comparing Ramirez with Doumit makes no sense. Ramirez is still 27 years old (Plouffe's age) and just entering his prime. And is a RH bat that could be useful as a bench player for a few more years. Doumit is a Herrmann or Pinto away from becoming history. I'd keep Parmelee mainly because the alternative is Clete Thomas. Give him some consistent PAs this season and see what he does. I hope that when Morneau and Willingham get traded, he is just given a spot (or 2) and they let him be.

For the record: - before today Worley did not "have success in Rochester" - Worley has had considerable success in the majors That said, he is way out of shape. If he loses 30 lbs or something, he will pitch better. Acute case of BoofBonseritis...

Might be a reach in the 8th round, but he is Yaz's grandson, which beats being Liddle's nephew who was picked in the 15th round (also from Vanderbilt) by the Twins in 2009. He was raised by his grandfather, after his father died from a heart attack in 2004 (not a pretty story - ) He is a senior and will get drafted. Tremendous physique for a growing17 year old (6'3" 220) with a lot of power and potential for more. Unlike 2012 he lost his starting job due to some loss of command and has been pitching out of the Sooner's pen. Just a Twins' kind of guy that it will be hard for them to pass at this spot. Another thing, as information starts to trickle from Detroit: The Twins' medical staff, yesterday said that Ramirez was fine but had a sore jaw. Today, he woke up dizzy and was seen by Detroit's doctor who made the correct concussion diagnosis... FYI

Herrmann had a horrible start in AAA. He has been warming up. The last week he has been hitting .316 with a .435 OBP. One of the hottest AAA bats, so it does make sense he is the one up. And he will probably go down when Plouffe comes off the 7-day DL, so it is not really for the full week likely.

I am keeping this on pitching only, because it is a different beast. In his last 2 off-seasons, he signed about 20 MiLB and MLB FAs and, of course some of them stuck. For every Burton and Fien there were about 3 Thompsons, a Capps, a few 35 year olds that did not make it after spring training, several with blown arms or shoulders or elbows, and a hord of AAAA talent. BTW, not that sold on Fien...

Because the Twins' way of using the free agent market under Ryan (bottom feeding with marginal MLB pitchers and MiLB FAs) is not working, it does not mean that it cannot work. The FA market was used pretty well under MacPhail, IIRC but he was not bottom feeding, bringing players like Morris, Bedrosian etc. If you bottom feed you will fail. Spendthrift Ryan's way is not working. Not Free Agency.

Fans who are listening to what the GM says before the season starts, are not casual... Casual fans are the ones who worry more about who the hot dog vendor is at Target Field than who the opening day starter is for the Twins. Casual fans just love Terry and Gardy, because they have seen their faces for a while and they love Gardy's commercials on the TV, while they cannot name the Twins' hitting coach. And if you tell them that it is Brunanksi, they never heard of him. Casual fans do the wave, they do not make waves; and if the Twins do not win, just another minor oofda, especially if that cajun mac and cheese at the ballpark hits the spot... Semantics and unfortunately the Twins cater to those Casual Fans

allegedly he hit 100 I think that he is very raw. I also think that he will not be there when the Twins pick in the second round and he is not a top 5 pick. Probably late 1st round. Might sign if picked on the first round, otherwise it will be tough. Good human story. Berrios a better pitcher, btw.

This is unfortunate, but after what I witnessed a week ago and how much he was pressing and how down he looked in his team's best game of the season, I can see it happening. He needed help, maybe changing teams will help him. On the other hand, any organization that values Butera more than Benson (esp. with 4 other Cs better than him on the 40-man roster), needs its head examined (or eliminated.)
