  1. Kimbrel for the closer job, Britton for the LHSU job, May for the RHSU, Rogers as a loogy and the rest will fall into place. The Twins can afford it.
  2. You know that there is something called defamation, no? Unfortunately, he did not sue when he got defamed (based on all the non-evidence and the MLB investigation) last off-season. I hope he does it now...
  3. Most good people with the means to do so, offer to pay medical bills in an accident, innocent or not.
  4. There is something out three about being innocent until proven guilty... Guess it does not apply to certain Twins' fans...
  5. Trade for: SP Zack Wheeler & OF/DH Jay Bruce (Gonsalves, Kepler, Gordon, ?) Sign: SP Patrick Corbin (4/80) IF Eduardo Escobar or Asdrúbal Cabrera (3/18 or 2/10) CL Craig Kimbrel (3/45) LHSU Zach Britton (2/20) Net ~ + $70M or so. C Castro/Carver 1B Austin 2B Escobar SS Polanco 3B Sano LF Rosario CF Buxton RF Bruce UT Astubillo OF Cave UT ??? (DH rotating) SP Wheeler SP Corbin SP Berrios SP Gibson SP Pineda/Odorrizi CL Kimbrel LHSU Britton RHSU May LHRP Rogers 2RP 2 of Drake/Hildenberger/Magill/Mejia/De Jong/? mop up Odorizzi/Pineda Bada book. Bada boom
  6. I hope that you realize that the size of Buxton's "good" sample is even smaller than Cave's...
  7. WAR is positional. It uses different constants for different positions. Thus comparing centerfielders with third basemen is like comparing applesauce with guacamole.
  8. Cave: 1.5 bWAR 91 games --> 2.5 bWAR 150 games 1.3 fWAR 91 games --> 2.3 fWAR 150 games
  9. Sano and Buxton are two different cases and should not be treated the same. Sano's career numbers: 1612 PA, 117 OPS+, .347 wOBA, 116 wRC+. Buxton's career numbers: 1074 PA, 80 OPS+, .289 wOBA, 76 wRC+ Sano had a disappointing season, and despite that he has been a much above average major leaguer. The key for him is that he should be able to get in shape and stay healthy. He has proven that if he does so, he can hit. Buxton, other than single months, has had a disappointing career as a hitter. In addition to health, the key for him is that he learns how to produce consistently as a hitter, something that Sano, when healthy, has mastered. Apples and pineapples.
  10. Here is an interesting split: Gibson: Opponent record <.500 15 GS 3.63 ERA, 1.283 WHIP, 8.6 K/9, 2.5 K/BB Opponent record >.500 17 GS 3.61 ERA, 1.319 WHIP, 7.8 K/9, 2.1 K/BB Berrios Opponent record <.500 17 GS 2.55 ERA, 0.960 WHIP, 8.5 K/9, 3.8 K/BB Opponent record >.500 15 GS 5.53 ERA, 1.386 WHIP, 9.4 K/9, 2.8 K/BB Gibson's performance was very similar regardless the opponent. Berrios did not perform well against winning opponents. Matter of fact Gibson did much better than Berrios against opponents with > .500 record and started 2 more games against that level of opponents than Berrios. It should be Gibson.
  11. Nah. That's his hitting fWAR. Each player has a hitting and a pitching WAR. Same way that pitchers' WAR is not impacted by their hitting
  12. Here is some food for thought: Robbie Grossman in 129 Games and 465 PAs, had exactly the same fWAR that Willans Astudillo had in 30 games and 97 PAs. Likely cannot have both on the Twins' bench. Which one deserves to be there?
  13. Indeed. Perfect attributes for an NL PH. Thus, he should be included in a package for a top of the rotation pitcher
  14. Absolutely. Likely off-season conditioning and hitting the gym and trying to add a few lbs of muscle on his frame, but he chose to be G Cinco instead.
  15. It takes time. Cannot fire 100% of the people and replace them with new on Day1. It is a 2-3 years process. Don't be surprised if you see several of the remaining Ryan front office types go away now as well...
  16. Never understood the hiring of a guy in the Mitchell report as a minor league coach. I suspect that the new minor league pitching coordinator had a bit to do with the pitching coaches...
  17. Molitor was playing favorites with his veterans. Not good for a team that is built primarily on youth. Good to see him go. I hope that the Twins bing in a younger manager outside the organization who comes with a winning pedigree. Mills is 61. Fine for a bench coach but too old to relate to 20-30 year olds, not unlike Molitor
  18. The Dodgers Also the Phillies, and Diamondbacks for sure. Others can definitely accommodate Machado.
  19. I am not arguing that Mauer was not great for the Twins. However, OPS does not indicate power. His high OPS is driven by OBP instead of SLG%. Fact: Among catchers with more than 3000 PAs Mauer ranks 89th in isoP. Among 1st basemen he is abysmal. It is not a myth. Mauer was not a power guy. And nothing wrong with that.
  20. I meant corner. Big fan of them bringing back Escobar either as the starting second baseman or at a superutility role if someone else (Gordon, Arraez) wins the second base job this spring
  21. Former Twins Trevor Plouffe, Chris Carter, Chris Parmelee, and Steve Pearce are also free agents in those spots. That said, first base is easily covered. Austin, Rooker, or any LH throwing OF can play there. Third base should be Sano's to lose. And I hope that this is the case. The Twins don't really need infielders at this point...
  22. I'd rather see Gordon used as trade bait (in a package with some other prospects) for a top of the rotation starter. He is in-between, plus at this point Arraez might be more ready than him
  23. Dozier's value at this point is a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training, but that will and should not be with the Twins. Enough whining and burned bridges. I'd try to get Escobar back in the utility role with a 2-3 year contract, if he accepts, because he can contribute in that role and is a positive in the clubhouse. I'd also try to sign DJ LeMahieu to a 2-3 year contract to play second base and potentially move to 3rd when Arraez is ready (and he might be next September.)
