    Kepler Gallo. Kepler Gallo. Kepler has been sliding backwards since 2019. It can't be all attributed to the shift. Is he a top 10 rightfielder? NO! Even on the defense alone he might be. Gallo has always been Gallo. He'll hit 30 homers, strike out 180 times and hit .200. The Astros took Kyle Tucker and put him in rightfield and watched him improve year by year. The White Sox did the same with Vaughn. Even though Vaughn never played outfield. The Twins are not going to win with Gallo and Kepler no matter what their DRS is. It's time for Larnach Wallner and Gordon to show or go. Buxton in CF with Taylor. Of course it all depends on health. They're all lefty bats as far as Kepler Larnach Gallo Gordon and Wallner go. So why not go with the unknown vs you know what your getting from Gallo and Kepler. Of course the stat geeks will go crazy. 100% of nothing = nothing.

    Except Verlander was throwing 100mph+. Let's hope the Machado-Miranda comparison is only in regards to the positive aspects, and not the parts where Machado doesn't hustle and takes plays or ABs off

    I was only referring to Kiriloff in the case that he doesn't get in any spring training games at all. If he is able to play in live games before the season starts, then he'll be fine. But I will dispute you on the matter of the Twins not pushing him last year. I remember them acknowledging his pain, but following that up with " he has to get used to playing with pain." And that there was nothing else that could be done. I'm rooting for him. And as for raking when he came back, he was hitting but there was no power due to the pain. The wrist injuries are hitters worst nightmare.

    I'm not sure how Kiriloff CAN be on the opening day roster. He is progressing as spring training rolls along getting more reps. But are the Twins going to put him at 1st base to start the season despite the fact he hasn't faced live pitching in a game scenario since last summer? Idk, maybe. But I would bet he'll start at SP. They pushed him last year and we all saw how that worked

    Today's game was interesting in the sense that Julien looks like he could be forcing the Twins hand. If he keeps hitting and it looks like he works the counts well, I believe he has a real shot at making the club coming out of Florida. I'm not talking about the 2 homers. But he looks like an Arreaz replica with more pop. So where does he fit? I don't know. But a potential. 300 hitter with a high OBP will find a spot. Because as of right now, who is the Twins leadoff hitter? Buxton should be in the2-3 spot. Kepler is not a leadoff hitter. I know it's early ST but if he keeps tearing it up, that 26 man roster heading north could be a lot different than most anticipate. JMHO

    Kepler beat the shift, but dropped a routine fly ball in foul territory, that fortunately didn't cost them. It looks like Gallo is shortening his swing for more contact. Farmer made 3 baserunning errors in 1 inning. He didn't run hard on a pop-up that fell in the infield. Then almost got doubled up on a Taylor line-out. And then should have advanced to 3rd on a Larnach single. Twins baserunning needs work. Lopez 1 looked good.. Lopez 2 will get there. Jax did fine. Overall pitching was OK, but after the 6th inning the defense was reminiscent of little league is what I observed.

    I totally agree. But when you mention Alcantra, who looks like he could be one of those guys. The GM and manager have to tread lightly. They're all worried about over use and having a young arm flame out after 2 or 3 years. Talk to any Cub fan who still blame Dusty Baker for ruining Kerry Wood and Mark Priors careers

    And also that 200 IP baseline wasn't based solely on 1 season. It's year in and year out. And I also said he needed to dominant. Being dominant means for every 10 starts you're getting 8 or 9 quality starts. And when you need an out you get an out. Usually by strikeout. Verlander, Scherzer, and Kershaw did that for 10 years or more. Clemens Maddux Glavine Smoltz Halliday all were dominant for multiple years. Warren Spahn, wow. Blast from the past. Gibson Koufax. Those guys. But as I said, the game has changed. A tired Bob Gibson in 1968 was still better than anyone the Cardinals could bring out of their bullpen. Today you can bring in 2 or 3 guys out of said bullpen with dominant stuff. Although I'd hate to be the manager who tried to take the ball from Gibson

    Thanks for doing the legwork on that. And just looking at those numbers and pitchers, how many of them would you put ahead of Sunny Gray in the rotation if you had that option.

    So quoting you, if he has a mediocre fastball and lack of a strong out pitch, why the hell would you want a pitcher like that coming out of the bullpen?

    Hand to say. Maybe 3 or 4 now. Scherzer Verlander and Kershaw were aces, but they're in the twilight of their careers. Cole isn't as dominant as he once was. DeGrom if he can come back is one. The game has changed so much. And the metrics all say. Get me 5 or 6 and then bring in the pen. To me there a more closers now than ever. Not so many aces

    So the season hasn't even started yet and the topic is Aces. An Ace to me is a Frontline starter who is consistently dominant. He's the guy you give the ball to in a must win game situation or the guy who puts an end to a 3 game skid. He's your opening day starter. Gets 30 plus starts and throws 200 innings. And does it year in and year out. Gray has been a solid starter since coming up with the A's. His first few years he looked like he could be one of those guys. Will the Twins give him the opportunity to be a so called Ace? I doubt it. The Twins want their starters to go 5 solid innings, and maybe start the 6th. But the 1st hit or walk and they're going to the bullpen.I like Sonny Gray. He's a solid 2 or 3 with many other clubs. On some clubs he'd be a 4 or 5. If there's a potential Ace on the Twins it's either Ryan or someone coming up

    Who are the scrubs and cupcakes? The Twins have a lot of question marks themselves. Maybe they're in the scrub/cupcake category. I hope not, but if injuries hit or the pitching, starters and the pen struggle or the offense can't score runs. Then they're not going to be scaring a whole lot of teams.

    When I put Arreaz in the core 4 I'm not saying he's #1 on the list. I'm putting him in the leadoff spot and going down the lineup from there. He's 25. Buxton does need to be more consistent no doubt. Because even though he's got 22 homers, if you look at it after that dare I say his numbers are Sano like. But then you have to factor in that he's the best CF in baseball. So he still belongs. After that if Correa is here. No brainer. Then it would be nice if Ryan and Winder could develop into a nice 1 2 punch. Duran out of the pen. After that it's hopeful the Lewis Larnach Kirilloff Miranda Kepler Polanco etc can continue to grow and improve. I like where the Twins are. They just need another 2 or 3 guys out of the pen they can DEPEND on consistently.

    Arreaz is not a great defensive player, I agree, the overriding fact is he can hit. And I'm not building a team solely around him. TD Army is always complaining about 2 things. The bullpen and lack of hitting or lack of hitting with RISP. Solo homers are better than 2 run shots? Go back to Twins vs Yankees game when Cole pitched. 3 or 4 solo shots. Who won the game. ARREAZ, leadoff playing wherever for the next 5 years is a good start

    I say none of the above, but how about going for the big enchilada. Ohtani. You add a starter on the mound and add a good bat. Give the Angels every single prospect in the farm system. And sell 3 million + tickets until the newness wears off in a couple years
