  1. I'm sure it is nothing that I can imagine. That would be a cool pod-cast to take us behind the scenes and show us what it looks like. How about the mid-season thread?
  2. The problem wasn't Pino, the problem was that it was in favor of May and Meyer. If these two weren't ready (like the Twins say) there is no problem. I strongly disagree about the readiness and what more they have to learn in AAA that can't be learned in the MLB.
  3. Glad to see Jack in the house. Can we do a mid-season question and answer thread?
  4. Wait wait wait wait. Verlander is dating Kate Upton? *Google searches Kate Upton....
  5. Pinto has to show the capacity to take over the job before Suzuki is traded. If he doesn't by the deadline the Twins should try to extend Suzuki. Of course, everyone has their price and if a team is willing to give up a top 75 prospect for him I'd have a hard time saying no. Mauer leaving catcher put this team in a bad spot. Suzuki has played so well that it is overlooked, but long term better hope Pinto develops or Twins are in trouble.
  6. You'd fit right in with the front office Brock. *rimshot
  7. The points being made are in relation to Worley being release in favor of several retreads. The news with Worley is over, he is a bad pitcher that will be exposed. I really had no problem getting rid of him, rather, the philosophy and practices the Twins are currently using. The discussion has taken a much more interesting turn than discussing Worely IMO.
  8. That is the MO of the Twins and it bugs me. I was going to start a new thread about this, but decided to use this one instead. The Twins blew it with these two. May should have been slotted into the rotation when Pelfrey went down. People didn't mind seeing Deduno at the time, but by now hopefully everyone realizes he is what he is; a AAAA pitcher adding depth to an organization. He shouldn't be getting starts in front of a potential key piece in the rotation as early as next season. Next, they add Pino to the 40 man and promote him in front of Meyer. Are you kidding me? By now they could have been watching May and Meyer get MLB experience but Terry Ryan decided to let guys with no futures get that vital experience. This is how you get to 90 losses, which the Twins are about on track for now. But, they are now in a bind because May is dinged-up and they would have to take someone off the 40 man again to add Meyer. And if we've seen anything from Terry Ryan before, its that no moves is the best move. Not to mention they are spewing BS about Meyer's innings limit and consistency.
  9. Brock you bring up the 40 man roster issue. I find part of the problem with the 40 man on the Twins (not to mention 25 man) is it contains too many guys that have no business on a building team. At this point the Twins should be completely focused on the future. If they have to cut someone like Guerrier to get Meyer up with the Twins and MLB experience so be it. I know we're pretty much all in agreement May and Meyer need to be with the Twins, but my question (will start a new thread) is why does it take so long? They do this consistently with starting pitchers and it baffles me. May should have been up when Pelfrey went down because he is on the 40 man, was having a good year, repeated AA already, and a spot opened up. Instead, they gave starts to guys that have no future. That isn't what good teams do.
  10. The Meyer and may situations are the types of issues I have with the twins promotions. Neither are young and both need to be a part of the next good twins team. Delaying their mlb appearance just delays their whole timetable. Gibson last year is another example. No matter what there is an adjustment period. If you ruin a 25 year old guy by calling him up you have bigger problems. I just hate this approach by the twins. There is no reason to wait this long, especially when you're giving stats top deduno and pino. This is bull****.
  11. I really hope May gets his shot. I never want to see Deduno get another start until May and Meyer prove they aren't ready. I might throw up. Lets all hope Nolasco can figure this out. Him being effective over his contract is vital for the Twins being competitive.
  12. Drinking game: one drink every homerun....
  13. I'm not bothered by this either. Why is it Gardy's job to babysit players and ask if they're hurt? Players have to have some kind of ability to know if they are battling something they can play through or they need to rest. There should be a standard of toughness. What we don't see is if there is ridicule when a player does ask for some rest. This isn't the first player to come out and say they didn't want to say anything, nor the first to play poorly because of it. These guys should be expected to be in the training room weekly to stay healthy and feeling right.
  14. Mike klaw is wrong often, as are many evaluators. Delmon young was once a top prospect, wrong. He has types of players he likes and berrios just doesn't fit his mold. He is right that it's possible to hold him back, but it's just as possible to not matter. Has klaw even seen him pitch?
  15. Who's taking about trading dozier now? I'm taking about trading him in a couple seasons when the middle infield talent is ready.
  16. I wouldn't fire jr mid season. I would tell him this is his last year and start searching for a replacement. I'd want a replacement right away in the off-season to get to work on evaluating and cleaning house. Although, I don't think jr would go for another gm job so he might just resign. I'd target up and coming organizations as well as the cardinals fo people for the job.
  17. I'm with you all. Blame should be put on the coaching staff, but at the same time Worley is a chump. Anyone who blames the wind for sucking doesn't deserve any respect from me. This guy finds any excuse other than himself. I'm no Anderson fan either. His philosophy and results have been terrible. At some point you have to change directions.
  18. These guys are all inching closer to the twins. I'm guessing the twins will have another good draft pick next year so hopefully they continue to add talent. As much as I like what dozier has done, he will likely be past his prime when these guys get acclimated to mlb. He could be a nice trade piece to add more talent to come behind this group. The twins should have some payroll flexibility in coming years too. No reason to think they couldn't add a big bat to fill a hole if needed.
  19. The question is if he can sustain this. I hope he can. Some mechanical adjustments to that swing would help him with pitches up in the zone it looks like. When the league adjusts to him we will just have to see if he adjusts back.
  20. You really think Mauer is suffering from the same concussion thing Morneau did? I'm really not willing to accept it. I think the league has adjusted to Mauer and have taken away his slap singles and driven down his numbers because of it. Pitchers haven't been worried about throwing him strikes and he just isn't the same hitter.
  21. Who ends with better offensive numbers? Currently parmelee has a .736 ops to mauer's .692. Should we throw morneau in the mix too? He has an ops of .866 in case anyone was wondering.
  22. I was hoping he'd get sent to aa. I wonder what rational they used for this one. There was a minor leaguer not that long ago that skipped a level after a rehab stint, arcia maybe? Anyway, sending him down to single a is asinine.
  23. No way they go better than 500. After this latest stretch.... you all are out of your minds. I say they go 5 and 9 and hopefully trade a bunch of pieces. The only room for optimism I'd plouffe coming back and unless he goes on ahr binge it won't make much of a difference. This is not a play off team. Better than last year, but still a below 500 team.
  24. I have a different opinion on pitching I guess. There are a lot of pieces to being a successful MLB pitcher. I'm betting Berrios could be just fine right now if the Twins called him up. He might not start to have a lot of success for a couple seasons. Why not save the service time and have him work through things in the minors? I have plenty of issues with promotions, but rarely does a 21 year old kid come into the MLB and have immediate success. Even Felix had an adjustment period. The Twins tend to be overly conservative with their promotions, but recently they've been alright. You can make the argument if he is promoted this season and blows away AA he could be on the fast track to the Twins by next season. I say it doesn't matter and that even playing a full year in high A he could still be accelerated next year if he dominates AA. I do have an issue with leaving May in the minors right now. Situations like his bug the **** out of me.
  25. What is the rush? Even if he's only a September call-up next year he will be 21! This isn't a case where the Twins are one piece away and need to push him. Lets be patient with this kid and let him develop.
