  1. Pocket presence was only half of his issue. This last game he actually threw the ball down the field and let his receivers make plays. Many of the sacks and such I've felt were his fault. When pressure is obviously coming, make an audible or get rid of the ball sooner. If he can't operate under pressure the only reason teams wont bring it is the potential of getting burned by AP, not Ponder.... which is pathetic.
  2. Ron paul people annoy me. They run around foaming at the mouth about how brain washed and ignorant everyone else must be, but then when it comes time to vote, do the one thing that is basically wasting a vote and write in Ron paul. If they used half that energy to organize and rally around whoever the libertarian candidate is, they as t least have a chance at making some progress for their movement. Instead they are just as if not more guilty of the same idol worship in candidates they decry. I voted for Gary Johnson. Why is writing someone in a waste of a vote? You are essentially voting for who you believe in. If more people had the balls to vote third party or write people in the 2 party system we live in wouldn't be as predominant. I think the GOP will find more success when they adjust their views on a few topics that have been going the other way.
  3. Ponder has one good game and we are talking playoffs? Playoffs? If Ponder can continue to play like that then yes, they could go 9-7. If he reverts himself to what we've seen all year they wont win any. It helps the team will be healthy soon too.
  4. Why not just sit him and give Webb a real shot? At this point the Vikings have to know he is not going to work out. The only real reason they can have to keep playing him is just that, leave no doubt he is garbage.
  5. KLaw is out of the MLB for a reason, the reason is he is a dick and he wasn't as great as he thought he was. He has some good opinions, and some bad ones too. A lot of the time he has pretty good reasons, but sometimes it is completely his opinion (which is what scout does... give their opinion). I listen to BA and BP more since those guys spend more time watching the prospects than he does, and they have more scouts giving more opinions. KLaw is just a voice, and a voice that hates the way the Twins operate (many things I agree with, some I don't).
  6. I'm waiting for Love and Rubio to be back before really judging this team.
  7. Ponder has one more game IMO. If Frazier doesn't sit him after another horrible game he should be fired. Let Webb play for a few weeks and see how he does. I'd throw the Jets a 7th round pick for Tebow and draft 2 QB's in the 2nd and 4th rounds next year. I'm a huge fan of Barkley and Mariota. The Vikes will be out of the Barkely sweepstakes, but will probably be bad enough for the next few years to have a shot at Mariota.... I might even think about giving up some big picks for Barkely, he is damn good.
  8. Fail at sarcasm. Tebow rallies teammates on his emotion and that might actually give the team a competitive edge.
  9. Hard to give up on a guy that has as many tools and as much success as Benson. The Twins brought him north with the club last season, so they obviously feel the talent is there. Let the guy play in 2013 and then start to evaluate.
  10. Tebow and Percy together again!
  11. I can guarantee the Twins have a manufactured response to this already.
  12. Wish I could watch the game. I wonder if Leslie is going to burn with Ponder. How can anyone stand to watch a QB play so terrible? He has no place starting in this league.
  13. I think Haren is a good option to Greinke. The Angels are going to overpay him so I'm going for the next best guy.
  14. Some of you guys are playing RBI Baseball lol. Its all in fun, so I'm not hating. Mine is much smaller. 1. Sign Baker. Make the contract work for both sides and move on. 2. Sign Haren. My goal would be 3-35 with an option, he'll be looking for 4 but will have to compromise I think. 3. Upgrade the infield. I'd look at Drew, Keppinger first. The market is thin so not sure if anything will make sense. 4. Try to trade Span. I'm not sure what value he will have, but he should bring back some decent value. 5. Take some fliers on guys with high upside (like Fien). 6. Start Gibson and Baker with the Twins. This gives the Twins at least a chance to hang around until these two get back to form. If they throw scrubs out there for 2 months the season will be over again.... **** that. Baker is a vet and Gibson threw enough this season to be ready for next.
  15. This is going to be his last big contract, so he would be smart to follow the money. Plus, if the Angels really wanted to keep him they would have already tried to extend him... and they didn't. Obviously they are going to try and keep Grienke with a big contract, not a bad move IMO. Haren does have a preference for warm places (was stated before the trade to LAA for ARZ), so it might not matter what the Twins are willing to give. I do remember reading something from a beat writer about the Twins trying very hard to get him before, but he wanted to go to LAA... can't think of the source off the top of my head. John, we seem to be in agreement on the 3-35 range. If that is the case, I absolutely think the Twins jump on the opportunity. Unfortunately, I have a feeling there will be many other teams that feel the same way and the numbers will go higher.
  16. I would take Casilla over all the other futile INF options (besides Carroll). He is a great fielder and has plus speed. That alone is worth it. I'm not extremely upset over the deal, but just think the Twins have decided to move on from him. That happens. Hopefully he can excel with the O's and help them compete again next season.
  17. There is absolutely no way Haren signs for less than 3 years and less than 10 million per year. He has an off year that he was injured and now everyone thinks he is due for a bargain contract? I wouldn't be surprised if he ends of getting a contract like 4 years for 60 mil. That's not what I would pay, but its possible someone really likes him. I'm a fan of him and think the Twins should go after him pretty hard. I think 1 high quality pitcher with the addition of Baker and Gibson would make the Twins rotation look pretty good.
  18. I would go 3 years with Haren for 35-40m with an option on the 4th. This season his numbers went the wrong way a little, but hopefully it isn't the start of a trend. That said, besides pitching 176 IP this season, he had 7 straight years over 200 IP. I see him as a guy entering the end of his career that can still pitch and would be a great guy to have around for Gibson, Diamond, Hendriks. In fact, Hendriks minor league line doesn't look much different than Haren's other than Haren figuring things out as a 23 yo and striking everyone out while Hendriks didn't strike people out but allowed much less hits. He might benefit the most.
  19. The Twins got a pass "at the time?" Is anyone serious with those statements? I remember complete fanatical melt-downs on the topic. Also, it was worse with Nishi because of how much money they were throwing at him and his clear lack of proven track record. Giving away Hardy for nothing was a huge mistake, amplified by the lack of competent options in the organization.
  20. I don't know if I'm a fan of bringing in a slick-fielding no-hit 3b with VP. Sounds like a guy that will end up stealing a lot of at bats from Plouffe. I think they have some back-up options now, and a guy like Burroughs that can be stashed in AAA is the way to go. I don't see Plouffe failing enough to be replaced during the season though. He might not play well enough to be considered a long-term option, but I don't see him putting up less than a .700 OPS while playing acceptable defense.
  21. I don't blame Ponder either, I blame the Vikings on a blown pick. Ponder wasn't supposed to go that high because he was never that good as a college player. We've seen the difference a competent QB can make on a team. Anyway, the book is out on this team. Try to contain AP and Percy as much as possible and disguise coverages on defense, and run the ball and when the defense has to bring guys up open the passing game up. Luckily, the secondary isn't giving up big plays every game this season so that is a plus. At least they are competitive and give reason to watch games.
  22. I'll go on record to predict a 7-9 season, and that is optimistic. The Vikings will leave Ponder in the rest of the year, but at this point I'm sick of watching him. He doesn't recognize blitzes, holds the ball too long, wont identify open guys and get the ball to them, and makes terrible mistakes. This guy is not an NFL QB. Don't give me the more skills guys excuse, a good or even solid QB can make plays be successful with what he is given. When Favre was here he barely had anything to work with at first too (Rice was a no-name and had a career year, Berrian had nothing left, Percy was new to the league, AP was still developing, Shenco has barely been visible since). Is it Musgrave that can't put plays together? He certainly has given Percy an opportunity to shine and seems to get people involved. He can't make the plays for Ponder. This defense is playing well. The line-backers need to be better against the run, as well as the safeties. The defensive backs have played the pass pretty well and Jefferson looks like he can be a starter in the future, was pretty impressed with his play coming in for Cook. The defensive unit has a whole is missing a shut-down LB and run stopping lineman. Its tough to keep points off the board when the offense is giving the other team great field position.
  23. He already has 17 starts.... so I'm not sure what the ceiling is on him yet, but we sure haven't seen much to say "he's got it." The final book isn't written on him yet, but things aren't looking too good. Despite the good record, the Vikes have to play GB, the Bears, DET again and I don't see them winning any of those games. They don't have the offense to stay with elite teams.
  24. I'm working on that. Its just hard being better than everybody else..
