  1. Why was he taken out with only 48 pitches?
  2. Thanks for the report. It will be interesting to see how Berrios demeanor matures as he moves up the system.
  3. The Mariners have turned into the Astros.
  4. I don't understand why they didn't wait at least a couple of more days before DLing him.
  5. DTFC SoCalTwinsFan? If so, good for you bud. Though, I do think you're asking a lot for us to place hope in the results of Hicks and Dozier and the role of Pressly. Though, I agree with the underlining sentiment that there's hope in the near future. I think the Twins are doing a good job of seeing what they have in some players--essentially using 2013 as both an audition for the future and as a major league crash-course. I imagine that many of the guys on the current club, as futile as the results might seem now, will play significant roles as Sano, Buxton, Rosario emerge.
  6. It is interesting how little he has walked and how his power has emerged simultaneously. I wonder if this is part of a tiered adjustment getting Hicks to be more aggressive as to gain confidence in his swing; maybe we'll see his walks start to emerge with the limited success he's started have when does put wood on bat...
  7. My cynicism stems from the fact that the Twins rarely seem to anticipate the problems that prospects eventually seem to have, whether it be within their attitude or skill-set. I know every team has failed prospects, but rarely do the Twins seem to offload prospects (who eventually fail) for value, beyond Bullock.
  8. The Rangers assigned Benson to AA, fyi.
  9. If they knew about problems with his attitude, they should have traded him while he had some value. They need to anticipate these kind of situations.
  10. Rhett Bollinger ‏@RhettBollinger Joe Benson was placed on outright waivers and claimed by the Rangers I can't believe they just let him go.
  11. 3. The Twins realize the Gibson is better than the other options, but there are things he can work at AAA while they look at some other pitchers in the organization, seeing if Walters, Deduno, De Vries, Hernandez can contribute in the future and are worth a roster spot.
  12. Golly, who knew 2013 would be a rebuilding year--I sure didn't.
  13. I like ad/art, and in general, I like vigilante art, as I think all art is irreconcilably political. But there's a thin line in using art to criticize 'branding' and that art creating a brand for the artist. Honestly, there's something easy about the concept and execution here that makes me shrug, however much I might agree with the sentiment.
  14. Before promoting Meyer (and this is somewhat the case with Gibson as well), it's important for the Twins to assess what they have as far as filling out the rotation. And I imagine that's what they'll continue to do all season, until Sept. when we might see Meyer.
  15. It's Whorlly, really.
  16. Yeah, none of his current favorites have ever been rookies.
  17. From LEN3s report. Let's hope he's not talking about Arcia.
  18. I think it's pretty obvious, actually.
  19. For the cheap and poor: chats in general are a great way to glean what insight writers have at pay sites, like Insider, BA, and BP.
  20. Moves like Colabello playing in the outfield strike me as a pretty overt acknowledge that 2013 is indeed a rebuilding year. They want to see his bat, first and foremost and with Morneau going so good, Colabello's best play to play might be the outfield. They probably also want to see if Colabello has any flexibility. The Twins have shown some anticipation in players having flexibility in the outfield, in that Parmelee looks much better in right field than many of us anticipated (especially his arm-play), and them giving CF innings to Ramirez and LF innings to Escobar. Honestly, these kind of moves seem totally prudent. They might not be looking for regular at bats for any of these guys, but they might a several good bench players, when the next core emerges. Which has been a historical issue for this team.
  21. I think the Twins need to continue to evaluate what they have in the minors in terms of help. I think Benson needs to come up at some point, because they'll eventually have to make a decision on his 40 man roster spot. I like that they brought Deduno, and I expect De Vries to get another shot as well at some point. We'll see Gibson, but there might be more pressing evaluative concerns (will Deduno, Devries, Walters, Colabello, Benson keep their 40 man spots heading into the future?). The thing with Worley and, the other young players like Hicks and Arcia, for me is what's the best approach for their future sustained success. Is it better that they keep getting coached by Brunasky and Anderson/Culler or do they need to work on things in AAA and have some sustained success to build confidence? I don't think it's an easy or obvious answer, and let's face it we're building for the future--actual, sustainable player development is worth losing games in the short term. Where that development best takes place I think is a rather difficult question.
  22. I think it's important to find out if Deduno is worth a damn thing; he's not going to be given a terribly long leach I imagine.
  23. I do have Davis at first, but that further thins my outfield. So much is riding on Bauer and Pineada. I hope some of the starters I have in the minors become even serviceable rotation guys because there's always value in starting pitching that actually makes starts. My minor league hitters suck beyond Soler and maybe Davidson, but boy does that guy strikeout. I do have two probably top ten picks in the next draft (thanks, Dave!), so I can build up the minors some.
