  1. Back-up middle infielder with some pop for a competitive team. Oh boy.
  2. Another ho-hum outing by Gibson so far, 6ip 3h 1bb 6ks
  3. Gammons GM:"Terry Ryan isn't going to trade Perkins without a big haul. They're going to be good quick. Best player in minor league ball(Buxton)... Sano's already in double-A, and he and Rosario are on the fast track, they've got pitching coming. Terry doesn't make mistakes."
  4. Target Field is a bandbox.
  5. Target Field is a bandbox.
  6. This has been my biggest grievance with the Twins for the past decade or so.
  7. Doumit was taken by surprise by the throw home. He didn't slide and made no effort to jar the catcher, nearly tripping over his leg. He looked back to Morneau (on deck) who obviously missed telling him to slide or brace himself. There was plenty of dumb to go around.
  8. Right. Only two or three such signings this offseason. (Pelfry, Harden, Perez).
  9. That's hardly a foregone conclusion. The Twins will try him in the rotation until they are forced not to do so, ala Perkins, Slowey, Hawkins etc.
  10. Fair enough. But the names you mention (along with Deduno) are our Sloweys. Be it without the pedigree or the major league track record. Brian Matusz fits your profile and somebody I'd like to see the Twins fetch.
  11. He signed for exactly the slot amount ($4,544,400).
  12. Slowey is the guy you pick up off the waiver wire (which is exactly what's been happening with him)--that he got demoted on an awful Marlins team tells us something about his viability. You don't trade veterans for a guy like Slowey; at best, if you're a competitive team, you trade a middling prospect for him to round out a rotation.
  13. Go family members and estranged kin! Go BOLD!
  14. That's a long lay-off. Are they just be precautionary or is the injury that significant?
  15. Not sure how reputable Baseball Instinct is but they have him at 91.
  16. Gibson, Meyer, and Berrios are right on track, and May is bouncing back from last year. We just drafted the best HS arm. Sure, it'd be nice to have more than this, but the state of the minor league arms is so much better than it was a year ago. Really, while it might not turnout, the system's rebuild through draft and trade the past year has been a boon.
  17. Don't let Cuzzi off, Nick. I don't care a wit whether he's a good umpire before that call. That's a call that makes a career.
  18. Using 'doug' as a verb and 'fister' as the subject of a sentence is likely a bannable offense. Or one would hope.
  19. I just worry that Terdo won't get playing time any time soon; but he'd make a good trade candidate for the Braves. I picked Jansen off the scrap heap, so getting anything of value is a boon.
  20. Why did Sanchez leave in the fourth?
