  1. Couple of thoughts. At this point if Dozier doesnt win a Silver Slugger, the award has no credibility. Second, the Pierzynski/Mauer comp doesn't quite work for me, because I don't see Polanco being better then Dozier. However he would fill the role admirably. I don't want to see Dozier grt traded, but if he does, I see a fantastic package coming over for him.
  2. Is there any support for Dozier as an MVP candidate?
  3. I have no idea how much Molitor knows about catching. In this case, it seems Suzuki would be better since he has more experience there, but I could be wrong. The thought is that Garver will be up in September, and while the opportunity to do much is limited (because it is only one month) I still value that higher then a random org filler or cash for Pohlad's pockets. I don't value it higher then an actual prospect, which has been my point all along.
  4. All fair enough. It definitely was just one start. Hell, IDK, keep him down, bring him up, whatever the Twins think is fair to him. I'm just not going to be pissed if he doesn't come up right now.
  5. You like straw men don't you? Garver could be mentored. Mentoring is an ongoing process, not a data download, questions come up and need to be answered as time goes on. Obviously Lucroy would have little to learn from Suzuki, generally mentorship is people at a successful level or beyond teaching those who have yet to reach that level.
  6. Yea, I don't know, I'm kinda guessing here based off of Gonsalves own comments, but he could be closer than is my impression. I'm uncertain, a full scouting report would be needed.
  7. Complete swing and a miss. You CAN mentor bad players, and the lessons might even take, but some people are not good enough to play in the MLB, like me and you (assuming you never played at that level). Buster Posey couldn't mentor me to play in the bigs. And mentorship only works on those who are less experienced or younger. Lucroy is not that. But please continue enlightening me with your intellectual superiority. Sarcasm and patronization are in no way overdone on the internet (I know, I used sarcasm, what a hypocrite)
  8. The 9 K's definitely were a part of it. I guess it depends somewhat if the balls were thrown as bait or were misses. But Gibson's start last night was only 115 pitches and had 8 hits, with 6 K's. I guess it feels like Gonsalves is still a thrower not a pitcher.
  9. A. You still have to not suck *cough* Murphy *cough*, and if you recall Suzuki was struggling with his own issues during that time. B. Stop your patronizing, unless you have absolutely no knowledge of how mentoring works, which I assume you do. C. How they hell would I know, but if it's worth even .1, then it's worth it. And his mentoring just might be.
  10. I'd argue his last start is indicative of why he shouldn't come up yet. He went through 6 innings with 0 H's and 2 BB's but still hit 105 pitches? That's over 5 pitches a batter. Seems like he has major command issues. He can keep working on that.
  11. Ahh, but he does have value. That is the value of his mentoring for the rest of the year. I've already stated that. Do you not believe that Suzuki can not help Graver or Murphy transition more effectively to the MLB? I do. Suzuki does not have to be playing to have value. I've never advocated him playing more then 1 or 2 a week to finish out the year.
  12. Not even close. I'm asking why should the Twins trade Suzuki for Org Filler? The Twins could out of hand acquire that for nothing. The most compelling reason to trade Suzuki for Org Filler is for Suzuki and he does not seem inclined to leave. I don't know that, but it's my perception. Otherwise I would like to see him traded for a team ranked 20-30 prospect. So my question is, what is the lowest bar you would trade Suzuki for? Would you trade him for Org Filler or cash? If so, why? Whata the point/value in that? What kind of signal does that send to the team and fans?
  13. I don't believe you've read any of my posts. Trading something for nothing doesnt do anything either or do you assume I'm advocating to not trading him? The Twins have established that they are willing to trade, and theyve recieved two quality prospects. Thank God they don't just agree to the initially offered Org Filler!
  14. 1. Manager works for the team not the player. 2. Org Filler is nothing. No value at all. They can be signed anytime, it doesnt matter who it is. 3. It's about perception. I've seen people commenting how we should never trade with the A's, because of their perception of Beane as a savvy trader. It exists. 4. I already stated what value he would have.
  15. Since Pohlad guaranteed Molitora job and I stated I would take any real prospect, I'm not expecting a top 100 prospect for Suzuki, I'm not sure what point you are trying to make.
  16. It's unfortunate Molitor's job has been declared secure, because if the Twins brought up Garver, Suzuki should have his playing time minimized. No threat will seem possible. I guess I don't know what Molitor would do.
  17. I've got no problem playing Garver and Murphy. You can always bench Suzuki and play him once or twice a week. You don't have to trade Suzuki to play Murphy and Garver.
  18. I don't get this. There are plenty of Org Filler FA's out there that can be signed. Why would you give an actual asset to acquire that? I'm talking a player like Leonardo Rigginatto. I know that Suzuki should be traded, but why would the Twins want to send the massage that players on their roster can be had for nothing. I don't think the Twins should be asking for much, basically any real prospect they can get, but they need to get something with a tangible value. Think about the effect on team morale as well, when useful players are traded for nothing at all. How does that make the team better. A: It doesn't. P.S. I'm all for bringing up Murphy and Garver for all of September and never playing Suzuki, but he is a good teammate and will talk to them about tips that he knows and experience handling pitchers, both of which ate useful.
  19. He does offer value, but it's just through the end of the year. Org Filler offer no value ever. You don't trade something of value for something with none, just to do it. I would take a 20-30 team rank prospect for Suzuki, but not a nonprospect.
  20. I wouldnt take org filler for him. You still need an actual prospect. They might not have offering those.
  21. No, Erstad and Polanco are the only multiple position winners.
  22. I thought all the trades made were great. I understand that there was some hope more would get moved, but I thought it a rather successful trade deadline for the Twins. Hopefully Suzuki gets moved in August.
  23. No but demoting the guy down to AAA certainly might... I would be appalled if the Twins promoted Berrios right now. Why? Cause I'm hoping they are trying to shed as many of our crappy pitchers as possible, and it's hard to sell Milone as an MLB starter if he's AAA! Now come August 2 and he's still not up, that's when I'll be mad.
