This has definitely been a rebuilding year. Who would have thought that Santana & Vargas would make the jump from AA New Britain and hit so well. The season isn't over, but they both look like fixtures for the future. Hughes & Gibson are the only pitchers still starting for the Twins. Nolasco will certainly rejoin the rotation when he is declared fit for duty. I wouldn't be surprised if he pitches from the bullpen for his first outings back with the team. Pino & Milone came from trades and May is a HUGE question mark at this time. We have found out that Dozier & Plouffe can play above average baseball and E Escobar can be a starting shortstop on a major league team. Arcia and Parmalee are still question marks, but the Twins have played them regularly this far, we might as well play them through the rest of the season before we give up on them.
They added Mauer to take Willingham's place. Buxton has hit .240 at Ft Meyers. Do we need to challenge his confidence by bringing him to the Twins ? http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=t509&player_id=621439#/career/R/hitting/2014/ALL
Parmalee will play almost every day from now until the end of the Year. When the year is over, we will have a good idea if Parmalee should be a regular. He certainly hits lefthanders well, his fielding is adequate and he has the potential to hit for regular power. He could put up numbers like Kubel and Cuddyer
It makes no difference where Mauer plays, if he hits like Joe Mauer. We have Vargas, Dozier, Arcia, Plouffe & Parmalee to hit home runs... and they will only get better. A good win, that.
You gotta live in Texas to understand it all. Texas is the only state that has the right to succeed from the United States and no true Texan ever forgets it.
That is the kind of inning that makes me not want to watch. Plouffe is a terrible situational hitter. Vargas makes a rookie mistake and Astros don't throw him out. We should be watching AA
