    Awesome post. With so many reports not being true these days..... there might be a future "onion" type site to be tendered for baseball..... "The Leek" maybe.

    With the Rangers now being reported by MLBTradeRumors to be the high bidder on Yang, I don't know that Guardado "appears to be the choice for Twins bullpen coach" and Allen "who has reportedly been hired as pitching coach" is worth even reading about yet. It seems people want to give us a scoop, regardless of whether it is really actually true or not yet.

    I can't think of any coaches under Gardenhire going on to have success in other organizations, either. If I can't think of one off the top of my head, it doesn't seem worth looking it up. Apparently, the Twins Way is only the Twins Way, and not something like the west coast offense.

    The first thing I think when a pitcher's high ERA is a "Cy Young" performance for the "high offense season" of the KBO, is that they must have horrible pitching (plus the man throws a ton of walks). I mean, look at who they wanted from the Twins. I guess Ryan wants to replace the pitchers that should never have been pitching in the majors for the Twins with more like them. The second thing I think is....... can things ever really change as long as Terry Ryan is in charge?

    It surprises me that in AA ball we have two 28 year olds and one 31 year old free agent, and two AAA free agents are 29 and 30. It sure seems like there should be more youth at this level.

    He can't hit....... but maybe he can still pitch? His career my have been totally misjudged from the get go on which direction it should have taken, by both Hicks and the Twins.

    Great article, Parker! It is also beneficial if each pitcher's strategy is a bit different. I couldn't believe how many pitches the Royals were swinging at in the last 5 innings of game 7 of the World Series a couple weeks back. Higher and higher Bumgarner progressed with a 91-92 fastball, some of them swinging as it was crossing their shoulders. Batter after batter giving away walks for swing and misses at high fastballs.

    I don't know what you mean with this. Do you consider Nolasco someone that was more of a sure deal? (I sure didn't. I figured 4.50 ERA at best. Nolasco instead of Kazmir? Never a move I would have made.) I meant, with the quote you used, someone like Tanaka (that didn't turn out so well yet, either, with the injury) or this year..... Lester. One top starter, instead of three of the dreaded innings eaters.

    People here say quite a few things that amaze me. Most just don't pan out. Personally, I was never a fan of Stephen Drew, and would not have made a move to acquire him at all, regardless of whether it meant giving up the 2nd round draft pick or not. For Kazmir? Definitely. I still feel what I feel. Draft picks are over rated, and may never play in the show. I particularly don't like watching draft picks take 7 years to get to the Twins, and then the Twins trade them for prospects to wait another 3-7 years for, if ever.

    Draft picks, to me, are so overrated. Levi Michael is a first round pick. 3 years of the mature Liriano is well worth giving up the possibility of the next 2nd round draft pick ever making it to the show.

    I like Brett Anderson and Francisco Liriano. Without the Gardenhire/Anderson duo around, Liriano should be just fine. Maybe Liriano is not mentioned here because he will command too much money. Josh Johnson is worth a try, too, although my expectations are not that high for 2015. The worst part is that the Twins are always looking for a couple/three lucky bargains instead of signing someone that is more of a sure deal for the same amount of total money. Phil Hughes really needs to put a second and third year like last year in the books before I can really say who is the next Phil Hughes, too.

    A player needs to own up to the responsibility to the team first if the team is going to be a winner. If he is hurt..... he needs to let management know, and they can make a decision together. To hide it and perform like Nolasco is just selfishness, and not being a team player. If a player thinks otherwise, they need a drastic mental adjustment.

    There is only one Gardenhire. And that is a blessing. Everyone else is different, including Molitor.

    Once the public and their taxes are used to make a private business work, and they invest together in the stadium....... I expect a lot more from the front office. The Twins have been accused of not spending money that they promised they would. Good PR and transparency would make it valid and important journalism to press for "everything", or at least actual evidence of what they say to be true, and not just "we have".

    I don't believe St. Pete (and really have a hard time even calling him that .... how about Street Pete) about the payroll and spending at all. I sure would have loved to have some kind of question about the manager choices, process, and how long we can expect Terry Ryan to continue to be GM. It was fun to listen to though. Soft, but fun. I have a hard time trusting anyone that doesn't speak up. Plus... he almost always is looking down, and doesn't make eye contact. I mean the man is in charge of the marketing - sell it, David.

    It always amazes me that folks feel the need to say to any Twins' fan that Mauer has a no-trade clause, and how much he gets paid. Most are also well aware of his performance. This is common knowledge. It is also common knowledge that any no-trade clause can be waived, and often is with the right trade. To say that Mauer cannot be traded is just not true. Of course he can. Nobody knows the future and the infinite possibilities. No one. I am also not hoping Mauer is traded, and have not said that I am.

    Plouffe has been improving every year. If he is traded, he will likely become another that the Twins gave up on right when he had become the player they had hoped he would. Sano is a hope at this point. It may be Mauer that needs to be traded to make way for Sano to take over first base if he is the real deal everyone is hoping for.

    It would be great to have Maddon as the manager just to break free from ey/y/ie name endings. No Tony or Luvy or Dougie or Paulie or Mollie............. I can't see calling him Joey or Maddy.......... just Joe or Maddon. That type of change would be welcome in itself. ;-)

    It would seem having Terry Ryan as his boss and GM would be the biggest obstacle. If you can pay Pelfrey 5.5 million, it would seem paying Madden that is nothing.

    So Terry Ryan is a pitching expert, and wants the managers to handle his arms the way he wants them handled. With the pitchers that Ryan has brought to the Twins (with few exceptions), I am a bit stupefied to read this. Does this mean that Ryan, among other things, is the man behind the seemingly strict 100 pitch limit that Bert loves so much? The more I read about the process, the more I feel that the Ryan/Gardenhire tandem needed replaced together. Mike Maddux might be available as a pitching coach, but would he be up to being micromanaged?

    Yikes. Buxton is 2 for his last 22 and hitting a Hicksesque .209 now in the AFL. It may be longer than hoped for a centerfielder to appear from the farm.

    Pino was such a better option that he was released at the end of the season. Having seen them all pitch, I can't put Pino, Logan, Gilmartin,or Johnson even close to Meyer's class as a future MLB pitcher. Meyer's stuff is just way better. Meyer misses bats, and buckles knees. It is very debatable that Meyer wasn't just as ready at the times the Twins chose Pino and Logan. Meyer was lasting just as long into games as most of the Twins' starters were, and that Pino and Logan did after they got there. We will never know how he would have done because he was never given the opportunity, so all the talk is just that.
