With 88m tied up in 4, 33 yr old or older guys (Miggee 28m, Kinsee 14m, Vickee 18m and Verlee 28m) and several of those signed long term it could be a long dry spell for the Tigers. But Gardy is used to that I guess. Good spot for him.

Interesting to see Gardy and that bullpen. Who is his "proven closer" gonna be?

I'd be more worried about the horses and wagons getting stuck in the mud. I think Baby Jesus and the dinosaur will be ok.

If you don't understand what we're talking about consider yourself lucky!
  5. Winston Smith
That will probably come not long after eating the hash!
  6. Winston Smith
If you don't like Pink Floyd try some hash first!
  7. Winston Smith
Make hash, not the kind you smoke but the kind you eat. Potato, meat. onion and maybe a vegy and you have a hash. It's what they would eat on the wagon train when they ran out of Doritos.

Kind of arrogant on your part. The guy isn't trashing the kid just expressing an opinion and one that was shared by a lot of MLB scouts prior to the draft. Lighten up!
  9. Winston Smith
    NO!

Classic case of the butterfly effect, Pelfry is so upset about the call on Mauer he can't pitch. This is all on the home umpire. Or maybe Pelf just sucks!

Rule 7.13 •Unless the catcher is in possession of the ball, the catcher cannot block the pathway of the runner as he is attempting to score. If, in the judgment of the Umpire, the catcher, without possession of the ball, blocks the pathway of the runner, the Umpire shall call or signal the runner safe. It certainly looked like the catcher had the ball before Mauer made contact, imo.

    Aren't they all?
  13. Winston Smith
Thank God Bill Smith didn't mind spending the Pohlads money!
  14. Winston Smith
    Ran real fast.
  15. Winston Smith
Is it possible that he changed to she during the surgery?
  16. Winston Smith
Still a good chance to do an after action report. What did we miss in this guy and what did we see that wasn't there in the other? They might learn something about the process that needs improving. No mind reading involved!
  17. Winston Smith
Was Wheeler the guy put on the 40 man instead of Gilmartin last winter? If so Terry should have a talk with the scout that made that call, hindsight being 97.28%.

Is there a reason they couldn't bring up both Fryer and Pinto? Fryer and Hermann should never be used as PH. Pinto could be used only as a PH.
  19. Winston Smith
Yep need Fryer up so they can use Hermann as a pinch swinger and still have a spare catcher. On a serious note if Hermann ever pinch swings again someone needs to be fired.
  20. Winston Smith
They should skip the start Monday night, save those innings. DFA Pelfry and add Berrios. Seems simple in my simple mind.
  21. Winston Smith
I'm not convinced that Terry thinks that catcher is a problem area.
  22. Winston Smith
Trade anybody if it makes the team better. The bigger question is Terry still able to make a trade like that? His track record isn't very good over the last 5-6 years around the Smith era. From what I read here the only way he can make a trade to improve the team is by trading the top 15 prospects, 2 dozen Sweet Martha's cookies, two of Gardy's old bowling shirts and of course Duensing. IMO the cookies would be a deal breaker.
  23. Winston Smith
Well the Twins played in the crappy Metrodome longer than the Rays have played in the Trop. How soon people forget.
  24. Winston Smith
Roster construction is the problem. When you have to use Herrmann as a pinch swinger your roster construction sucks.
  25. Winston Smith
I hope that Herrman pinch swinging for Buxton will be the low point of his career.
