  1. Why you no like Bourjos?
  2. I wasn't that intrigued in Shields, especially at that price. That arm has a lot of wear on it and his sinking K/9 rate makes me sheepish. 4/54 for Santana of 5/100 of Shields is quite the difference in price as well.
  3. I am pretty intrigued by him in the pen as well.
  4. Bourjos or some other defensively gifted player that can play CF.
  5. That will be filled with the Rule V pick this morning
  6. How many of these guys get resigned? How many of these guys does Santana have the chance to put up better numbers than? I don't see how this signing effects next year 's free agent market for the Twins anyways. You could have said signing Hughes and Nolasco would have meant they wouldn;t be in the market for a starter this off-season.
  7. Done deal according to LEN III and Heyman.
  8. Starting Infield of : Gonzalez, Kendrick, Rollins, Uribe. No spring chickens in the bunch. I like the deal for the Angels, I am pretty high on Heaney.
  9. They acquired SP Alfredo Simon from the Reds earlier today
  10. I haven't seen anything regarding the UCL since before the 2014 season, are there any new reports? I also imagine a pretty in depth physical will be happening before as well.
  11. Pessimistic much? At least wait until he makes a decisions to rip the team for not signing him and sitting on their hands. Seems like a fair offer from what is reported. Also....you should learn about paragraphs, makes things easier to read.
  12. I think it's a high upside pick. If indeed it was ramifications from the shoulder injury and can get that velocity back on his fastball we might have something nice here. I also think looking at the potential 2015 Twins roster, a pitcher would be the easiest to stash for a year.
  13. SP Alfredo Simon to the Tigers. Reds get Tigers 1st round pick in 2013 SP Jonathon Crawford and 22 year old SS Eugenio Suarez.
  14. At this point I just hope a) they select SOMEONE and it's not a soft tossing control pitcher. Take a chance!
  15. I'm guessing it wasn't a typo. People want to hold Mauer to unrealistic expectations and then completely bash him when he comes up short of them. It's nothing new.
  16. Man the Dodgers are wheelin' and dealin' today. They acquire 2B Howie Kendrick from the Angels for SP Heaney who they got in the deal from the Marlins earlier. Also close to deal with SP Brandon McCarthy on a 4 year, $48 million dollar deal. Who thought he would get that much?
  17. and people need to get over that he's not going to catch anymore.
  18. I wouldn't trade Dozier unless you get totally blown away.
  19. That was a clause put in his contract as insurance. If he missed a year due to an elbow injury, the team got an option of an extra year tacked on at a minimum year, it wasn't because of a front loaded contract.
  20. How often does front loading actually happen? I know it's brought up a lot, but realistically does it happen very much?
  21. Well they either sold high on him, or he matured as a 26 year old and is turning into a young, cheap, useful player. There's really no way to tell right now.
  22. Yeah, because Worley, Diamond and Dedeno and the 8 total starts they combined for last year is the reason the Twins didn't sign Santana. IMO opinion it had a whole lot more to do with the fact the Twins had to give up a draft pick, had just signed Hughes, Nolasco and Pelfrey and still had Correia hanging around and not to mention a 26 year old named Gibson. Comparing the SP situation of last off season to the SP situation of this off season is like night and day.
  23. Meyer was rumored to be the next guy up in Minnesota until he got injured and even then he was on a innings limit. While I think a lot of us would have liked to see him start a couple of times, by pushing his debut up til 2015 you could save an entire year with him. Would him pitching towards the end of his innings load in September of 2014 really have gained him that much more experience than him pitching in Spring Training and April of 2015?
  24. The forecast for them both is drastically different than it was going into last off season. Meyer had thrown 70 innings above A ball and May struggled in AA to the tune of an ERA of 4.51 and 4 BB/9. None of them had AAA success as they do now, or tasted the majors like May has. Not finding room and choosing not to give them starts are two totally different things.
  25. There is only a handful of starters across the league that give an average of 7 innings per game. Even your Cy Young winner was short of that this year. Hughes only averaged 6.5 innings.
