  1. I actually think Dick Bremer made a good point (!) when he said you can't make stupid mistakes when you're playing teams like this and fighting for the postseason. Clean it up!
  2. Price is having a pretty good debut in a new uniform. I kind of hope Duffey has a similar debut.
  3. I'm watching this the next morning, and holy lord! does Sano have a cannon. If the whole batting thing doesn't work out maybe he can be the shut down eighth inning guy.
  4. Ah. College buddies. Makes so much more sense now. Well, enjoy your retirement. I know I will.
  5. Mat Batts came into Thursday's game with a 1.66 ERA and after he gave up three earned runs in just over five innings (5.1), he left with his ERA a third of a run higher at 1.96. Cut him! Seriously though, I expected a bit of a struggle post promotion, but it really looks like he's taken well to high A. Good for him.
  6. It's be pretty cool if we had more than one prospect to talk about.
  7. Yep, no cookie cutter way of evaluating prospects. One should really take a holistic approach. Makes you wonder whether scouting a stat line for rbi and he is a good idea, doesn't it? Oh wait.
  8. Can we take a minute and recognize Tyler Duffey? Helluva season he's got going, for a guy who mostly flies under the prospect radar. Good for him.
  9. Best wishes to him. I've missed seeing his impressive stats this year, but looking forward to him picking it up again next year.
  10. I really hope you're right. Just prior to the concussion, Mauer was on a first-ballot-lock trajectory. Now he's lost a lot of luster, but I said before and will say again, all he really has to do is age gracefully. He's still got a great resume.
  11. This may have to be put on the list of "things that only bother me," but it's Aderlin Mejia, not Aderling. Seems like I see that mistake fairly often.
  12. Interesting. Interesting. But it's also easy and fun to rag on the stiffs in the bullpen. So.... Yeah.
  13. Frankly, I'm surprised it's taken us this long to make a kernels-popping joke.
  14. Looks like you got a shout-out on ESPN: http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/59843/appreciating-brian-doziers-first-half Nice work.
  15. I don't necessarily disagree with what you're saying and wouldn't put words in your mouth. But Duffey isn't that old, especially for AAA (24), his results are there, and it's not like he's some 38th round fluke. Longer term, I do think Berrios is probably better than Duffey. But I think both could be very good. If we're talking about a spot start tomorrow, I'd want Duffey. In any case, he's not chopped liver. He won't hold back the elite prospects, which it seems is a class Berrios belongs in, but it doesn't seem like we should assume he's AAAA cannon fodder either.
  16. I'm not sure if Sano is ready, with an OPS of less than 2.000 last week. I'm looking for a bit more consistency. /s
  17. Is it a pedigree thing? Because you really can't fault Duffey's results. In any case, I don't think anyone's in anyone's way. If/when the need arises, they'll take stock of the situation as it is.
  18. B. Looked again, and that's Aaron Slegers. Which I think I agree with. But these things are subjective, and it's fun to get alternative viewpoints.
  19. For whatever reason, I love that he lied to get a spot in the lineup. Gotta love a guy who just wants to play.
  20. The math has to be different here, because these values assume free agency. Dozier's contract was only over the cost-controlled part of his career with the Twins anyway. That's probably secondary to your point, though, which I wholeheartedly agree with. Dozier is entering elite territory this year. Let's hope he keeps it up for at least the next four.
