  1. Must be super windy if Suzuki not only gets close to a home run but gets close to straight away center.
  2. You know, I consider myself to be a reasonably smart person, and yet I've never really done this. I just mute it and wait. Maybe I should reassess myself.
  3. I don't know if you're actually interested in this, but I have some inside knowledge, so why not share? Jack Links has been with their (Minneapolis-based) ad agency now for something like a decade. They're a small-town company and their mindset isn't particularly edgy or creative. Certain people in their ad agency have expressed a desire to move away from Sasquatch, but they like it, and they don't see any reason to change.
  4. This Hicks kid is looking pretty good...
  5. True, it's a tradeoff. At this point I don't have a choice, but at least since I'm not in Minnesota, they don't black out the game.
  6. That's about as close as it could possibly be.
  7. Not to mention there's a few minutes' lag, so sometimes the suspense goes away. #behindthetimes #thesedontworkontwinsdaily
  8. I'm watching on MLB.tv, and they're doing the same Elvis impersonator - State Farm commercial literally every inning. I'd love to have a Jack Links commercial thrown in the mix.
  9. Dozier had too much time to make that little flip. In my completely unscientific, observational opinion, he does that too much. Better to set your feet.
  10. It's gotta be his ankle here right? I mean, Plouffe being out is literally the perfect reason to see what he can do at 3B in the majors. I don't go in for hardly any of the conspiracy theories around here, so I'm going to assume it's his ankle unless there's evidence otherwise.
  11. Weak contact was kind of made for that kind of situation. Clearly Molitor was planning to have Rosario hit a triple or two, and that's why he backed him up with the other Eddies and Suzuki. #strategy
  12. He gets (or has gotten) a lot of love for his discipline, and I guess that's a part of it. He also gets (or has gotten) a lot of love for how well he hits with two strikes. That said, sometimes it never should have gotten to two strikes. Even if you're Mauer, you're significantly better without two strikes on you.
  13. Well crap. That was unexpected.
  14. I can't help liking Mauer, but that was irritating, wasn't it?
  15. Nice. Gotta get that first out. Statistically, it's really hard to get into the sixth or seventh inning if you don't get that first out. #madden
  16. Woo! Early game! I hope you guys aren't doing anything stupid like working.
  17. That post was about anecdotal evidence being unreliable, and it was absolutely not meant to compare Escobar's defense favorably with Smith's. Now this is absolutely a straw man.
  18. I wonder why they never tried him at reliever? Oh right, because the next starter up that year was a guy named Warm Body.
  19. To be fair, 2006 was a good year for Nick Punto bobbleheads.
  20. Okay. Okay, now we're talking. This is a strategy I can get behind.
  21. I completely disagree. I reject your premise, and I am positive that there are stats to back this up, probably, somewhere, maybe. In any case, you're wrong. Clearly.
  22. Ah. College buddies. Makes so much more sense now. Well, enjoy your retirement. I know I will.
  23. Mat Batts came into Thursday's game with a 1.66 ERA and after he gave up three earned runs in just over five innings (5.1), he left with his ERA a third of a run higher at 1.96. Cut him! Seriously though, I expected a bit of a struggle post promotion, but it really looks like he's taken well to high A. Good for him.
  24. It's be pretty cool if we had more than one prospect to talk about.
