    From mlbtraderumors.com: Joel Sherman of the New York Post also examines Davis' situation, noting that there's risk in trading Davis, as his current career numbers aren't that dissimilar from those of Chris Davis through his age-26 season (Chris had slightly better power numbers but played in more hitter-friendly settings). Sherman wonders if the Mets might consider swapping him for another buy-low candidate like Jeremy Hellickson and notes that teams like the Rays, Twins, Marlins and Brewers could all be intrigued by Davis. The site also links to a Peter Gammons article that looks at Davis career path and "questions whether he's worth the raise he's due on his $3MM salary via arbitration." Personally, depending on the price tag, I think Davis could be a perfect buy low for the Twins. While Davis started the year horrid In his 138 ABs after the All Star break he was hit .285 With a 954 OPS and over doubled his BB%. 138 ABs is a small sample size and add in Davis is out the rest of the year with an oblique strain but I think it would be worth the risk.     I'm all for signing some decent starting pitcher but I just don't see any worth over paying for outside of Tanaka. I think the best bet is to trade for an expensive pitcher after a down year or package some prospects together for a solid pitcher. Only problem is I can't really think of many pitchers who fit either of those bills.

    One of the biggest advantages of building through the draft is the cost control of your young players allows you to spend else where. The problem is out side of Tanaka I just don't see any real arms to get excited about. -Kuroda/Burnett have said they are only pitching for specific teams -Garza...well we all know the story about Garza -Ervin Santana is coming off a career year and he is going to be paid like an ace even though his past numbers suggest he is more like a #3 -Johnson was a guy I wanted the Twins to go for before he was shut down....again. One year deal? Sure, but I just don't see him giving us 150+ innings -Lincy is an interesting one. He isn't the pitcher he use to be and the transition from NL to AL always scares me. If he would sign a 2-3 year deal he might be worth it but he is only a shadow of what he used to be. -Nolasco, like Santana, is in the middle of a career year and only has two years of under 4.5 ERA ball. Also, as noted above, the transition from NL to AL scares me. - The rest of the pitchers are the same old retreads no one wants. The 2015 FA market doesn't look like much either. Especially if you believe the rumors that the dodgers and Kershaw are working on an extension. Outside of Tanaka the best option might be to make a trade. Outside of Price, who would cost either Sano/Buxton, I haven't really read many rumors of pitchers who might be on the trade block.

    Oh snap! Burn Terry Ryan!..... Let's try and keep one single thread on this site not based around complaining about Ryan please. We get it, you don't like the way he is running the team. Not only does staying in the top 10 give pick protection but once again the Jays didn't sign the 10th pick last year so any pick past 10 gets bumped down one.

    1-3 better spots could quickly turn into 10 worse spots. Doesn't matter though. Its not like you can play the lastros every game.

    Yes. He has 5 more years on his contract which he sure as heck isn't walking away from so outside of a career ending injury I see no way he won't get the needed accolades to get in.

    I 100% agree on May. While he isn't a #2 like they used to think he would be but an innings eater #4 who can actually strike people out is pretty valuable.

    If you aren't going to keep Rosario at 2B because you feel Dozier is the 2B of the future, trade him. The Rangers refused to trade Profar, who is a significantly better prospect than Rosario, and look how that experiment turned out. Dicking around young players isn't a smart idea. As I say this I'm not confident in Dozier with out seeing him produce like he has for another year.

    I read it and it makes me more excited. 60% of position players ranked in the top 20 succeed and looking at the graph the higher you are ranked the more likely you will succeed (which mimics the results BA got when they did the same study). We have two position players in the top 5 including the #1 prospect in baseball. The poster goes on to say the most likely position to turn into stars are OF, 3B, and SS which bodes well with Sano/Buxton. Anyone who follows prospects knows not all top 100 prospects will succeed, much less become stars, but the more you have the better. Especially if they are top 5 level talents. Also, what is always lost in these "debates" is how poor a lot of free agent signings are relative to cost. A few prospects bust or turn out to be just average players no big deal. Sign several bad contracts and you can be hampered for years. Obviously the best course of action is to draft well and add good players via FA, which if it was easy, ever team would do it. With more teams signing their young players to long extentions the FA market has become not only weak but significantly over payed.

    If the season ended today the Twins would have the 6th overall pick but the season doesn't end today. The 6th and the 12th overall pick, actually 13th because of the Jays failing to sign the 10th overall pick, is only seperated by 2 games. Value wise 6th and 13th is massively different. While I don't actively root for the Twins to lose I rather they not waste a chance to get a possible top 5 pick on useless wins. Especially with how good the top of the draft looks currently.

    Tanaka is the key to jump starting the rebuild. Japanese pitchers have done pretty well making the adjustment. He would bring a ton of media attention, local and internationally, and help the Twins for years to come. While he isn't an ace his scouting report reads as a solid #2. A rotation of Tanaka, Gibson, a FA signing, D, and Corriea would be liveable till Meyer/May step in. Just need to put an ok defense behind it.

    After taking 2 of 3 from the rangers the Twins fell from 5th to 6th in the reverse standing. The draft day has been announced and will be help on June 5th. Date set for 2014 First-Year Player Draft | MLB.com: News

    Much of anything? I don't know what you do for a living but even minimum is ~400k a year. Also, Justin has made quite a bit of millions.

    From Dave St. Peter when asked how fans should take this trade: Justin going to be a free agent. Got two decent players in trade. Could possibility re-sign Justin. With what Peter and Huntington said it sounds like it won't be cash coming back. Can't judge this trade till we hear the second player.

    Vic Black. John Sickels ranked him #15 on the pirates prospect list. AAA RPer who has hit 98. Had a good year and has a chance to be a big time closer.

    I don't understand why people are so upset. What did you expect to get for one month of a 1B who has .741 OPS? People do know that Morny isn't a MVP talent right? Twins get a 4th outfielder, possibly get another player later, and give Morny a chance to play in the playoffs.

    Good for Morny. I only wish him the best. While it is too early to judge the trade till we know if we are getting a prospect or cash later but right now I'm confused. Not by the fact we didn't get much for Morny but the fact the warm body coming back is an OFer. Our outfield is pretty crowded as is.

    They didn't send Radcliff out there for fun. Will they sign him? No one knows. I just like the idea of a Tanaka, Gibson, Meyer rotation.

    Every time I read a report about Tanaka I want the Twins to get him more. Especially with how poor the FA arms are this year and next year. He isn't an ace like darvish but I think he could be a a solid #2.
