  1. Pretty much just another (dominating) day at the office for 20-year old Stephen Gonsalves today: 7 IP 0 ER 11 K After today's performance, in glancing at the qualified pitchers leaderboard for the Midwest League, Gonsalves is the leader- in many cases, way out in front (or in a couple instances 2nd place), in the following categories: ERA confirmed by both: FIP & SIERA H/9 K/9 K% KS% WHIP (2nd lowest) BA OBP (2nd lowest) SLG OPS IFB% LD% (2nd lowest) wOBA No matter what his pitch selection may, or may not be (the latest reason given for keeping him off of a faster track), it sure seems like it's clearly time to move him to Ft Myers.
  2. Great... so then why is Ryan all in favor of maintaining the 13-man pitching staff that went right along with the days of Swarzak?
  3. I don't like to see Sano out 2 games in a row for : 4) all of the above
  4. Yep. TR threw the dice here and it came up snake eyes, would Stauffer even be claimed if he is DFA'd? Probably worth the "risk" to find out. (Which team pays the bonuses if Stauffer hits hit appearance targets on another team after he is released by the Twins?)
  5. Why is that sad??
  6. But yes, yes we were... we were assured by many that at least one magical mystery move was going to have this all make sense. Still waiting...
  7. Amen. (And Ryan's "explanation" for staying with 13 arms made absolutely no sense.)
  8. Better stuff? Very debatable. Multiple innings? Perhaps, but he hasn't been asked to demonstrat that since 2013.
  9. Yep, I don't think anyone is arguing this point, it's the "another story" that is the problem.
  10. Very doubtful. Who was the closer in Rochester when they were both there?
  11. Good defensive posting on your part. This thread has all the makings of an epic derail, with plenty of fines and suspensions.
  12. Yeah, but even Pressly won in the seniority sweepstakes.
  13. Or even certain TD beat posters.
  14. Scholarships are back.
  15. Bautista actually has 11 HRs @ Target Field and then there's: (Almost as) Big Bad Edwin Encarnacion 16 games @ Target: .357/.448/.696/1.144 OPS+ 172 HR 6
  16. He is allowed 16 days in the minors to get ready, which means he'll be pitching probably 4 games for Rochester starting just past the mid-point of June. Plus, he's already throwing in some EST games.
  17. I was very impressed by the smoothness of his swing, and it looks like he could add additional power down the road. He really looked like he's seeing the ball exceptionally well- And that was confirmed when I looked up his LD%- this year it's 23.8%, vs. ~15% for the rest of his minor league career. Big breakout year for Kepler to be sure.
  18. Agreed. First priority for him is to stay healthy all season. After that, a Futures Game slot for the World Team... and then, it would be nice if he gets the opportunity to expand his horizons come September with a call-up..
  19. You don't need to be patient at this level if you're getting a good pitch to hit early in the count. At least that's what I observed about Kepler when I saw him play.
  20. If Game 163 is counted in the stats as a regular season game, it doesn't seem likely that the post-season suspension rules would apply. (And wouldn't Santana be the perfect guy to throw in the Game 163 scenario?)
  21. And he'll somehow have to leapfrog over a half a dozen other prospective SPs that they have to evaluate first (Milone, Duffey, Rogers, Dean, Meyer?, + the MLB SP that Santana replaces in July)
  22. Agressive? He's been on the roster for two years, and now he finally appears to be fully healthy. Plus, he's been swinging the best bat in Chatty.
  23. And while he's reaching his ceiling, hopefully he's kicking in all the doors still in his way...
