  1. Fascinating read.... thanks for the link.
  2. I'm not sure but maybe this: Does Mauer expect to be managed differently? “Well, I’d like to think I don’t need a lot of managing, as long as I get in the lineup,” he said. http://www.startribune.com/sports/twins/281544201.html?page=1&c=y
  3. Timing is everything, A phrase comes to mind: a day late and a dollar short. In this case, several days late and probably lots of dollars and several years short. Let's move on.
  4. I ha i I hate that red It looks like watered down tomato soup.
  5. Dozier would be 1st in line.
  6. White jerseys w/o pinstripes are apparently already in Twins Pro Shops from a tweet I read earlier.
  7. Obviously a lot of respect for him personally as well as for his baseball mind. Should be fun to see how it all translates over the season.
  8. Mostly because they don't want the audience to yawn.
  9. It seems the Twins did talk to Maddon or his agent -- just on a delayed basis -- but aside from the money, I can't see Ryan ever giving him a 5 year deal, As for Molitor, Ryan has made it pretty clear that the F.O. will have some pretty significant input on coaches, That's our next waiting game I guess, LaVelle E. Neal III ‏@LaVelleNeal · 43m43 minutes ago There will be no coaching staff announcements at Molitor's presser tomorrow. Terry Ryan says nothing finalized yet.
  10. I am again struck by this quote in a Mike Berardino blog: “Sometimes it just doesn’t happen for whatever reason,” Dick Berardino, a player-development consultant for the Red Sox and a mentor of sorts to Lovullo, said this week. “It’s like anything else: Sometimes it’s not what you know but who you know.” http://blogs.twincities.com/twins/2014/10/29/twinsights-teams-keep-passing-torey-lovullo/ The good old boys' network is always active, And although I haven't yet found the closest friend quote back, I did find this one: “I’ve thought Paul was the right person all along,” the person said. “With Pohlad now involved, you can bet Molly is the man. Their relationship is so strong.” http://blogs.twincities.com/twins/2014/10/29/twinsights-twins-still-made-manager-offers-source-says/ Anyway, I wish Molitor well but use of "Molly" should go the way of no more use of Gardy, Outlaw Y's.
  11. I actually think that this was Pohlad's choice not Ryan's. I think Pohlad wanted to do this last year but deferred to Ryan's wishes to give Gardy more time, Then I think they actually gave Gardenhire more input this year in both the interest of fairness and because of Ryan's illness. There was a story earlier this week that referred to Molitor as "one of Jim Pohlad's closest friends". I think it would have been almost impossible to persuade him to hire someone else although it appears that Rvan gave him a strong candidate in Lovullo.
  12. Thanks for posting this. One thing A,J. doesn't lack is chutzpah!
  13. Patrick Reusse ‏@1500ESPN_Reusse · 47m47 minutes ago To clarify: Molitor deal being finalized. Monday is anticipated but not definite. Mientkiewicz out here; could wind up in Rochester.
  14. I'm not saying they fake interviewed people. I'm flat out saying that this was Jim Pohlad's choice and he wasn't going to be swayed. I first got a bad feeling about this a couple of weeks ago when I saw the story about Molitor's and Pohlad's daughters being in business together. Then later I read a story referring to Molitor as one of Pohlad;s closest friends, I suspect that this was Pohlad's preference last winter but Ryan prevailed upon him to give Gardy another chance. This speaks volumes about whether we'll ever see real change in this organization as long as the current owners are in place, http://www.1500espn.com/sportswire/Paul_Molitor_expected_to_be_named_Twins_manager_next_week110114
  15. Darren Wolfson ‏@DarrenWolfson · 26m26 minutes ago Per colleague @1500ESPN_Reusse: Molitor, as expected, will be the choice of the #MNTwins. Sort of figured news would leak this weekend. Sigh ... my least favorite candidate, Why did we even go through this charade?
  16. He declined to stay in the Cubs org. Don't know on your other questions but since manager's contracts are guaranteed, I'd bet he gets to keep it regardless of what he does.
  17. Well, I also think Ryan plans on limiting the new hire's input on FA so he thinks time makes no difference. I still expect a decision this week, though.
  18. I will never forget the original Star Wars: Walked into the theater on the 1st weekend of release and had absolutely no clue what iy would be about or like (sometimes I can be oblivious) -- was blown away. There's just no way to match how stunned I was. -
  19. Mike Berardino retweeted Baseball Canada ‏@baseballcanada · 3h3 hours ago Great read on Andrew Albers' season in Korea: Albers' Odyssey http://www.thestarphoenix.com/sports/Albers+Odyssey/10340947/story.html Really is an interesting read. I especially took note of how difficult he thought the language barrier must be for the young Latin players.
  20. David Dorsey @DavidADorsey · 1h 1 hour ago Well, I woke up this morning, and my gut feeling completely changed. I now seriously doubt Doug Mientkiewicz will be named Twins manager. Good grief...April 1 is still 5 mos away!

  22. jay, on 30 Oct 2014 - 06:44 AM, said: Yet another example of jumping to conclusions and making false facts out of preliminary, partial information? Shocking. JB: Or maybe someone quickly reached out in the last day or so to cover their b*tts. ChiTown: Or maybe not. TODAY: Darren Wolfson @DarrenWolfson · 54m 54 minutes ago #MNTwins have talked w/ Maddon. @LaVelleNeal first. Happened since my last Maddon tweet. Sense still remains that he isn't landing here. Prior tweet was on Tyesday,10/28: Darren Wolfson @DarrenWolfson · Oct 28 To reiterate since it's a popular question in my feed: ZERO traction connecting Joe Maddon to the #MNTwins. In fact, zero dialogue. Either they were cpvering their b*tts or incredibly slow off the mark. Neither are desirable IMO. In more intersting news: Darren Wolfson @DarrenWolfson · 10h 10 hours ago Hmmm. “@DavidADorsey: I have a very strong gut feeling that Mientkiewicz will be named Twins manager between tomorrow & Monday. Stay tuned.”
  23. My point is that Reusse's blog was pretty much useless. I'm all for adding more pitching. And I'm fine with Lovullo being the next manager...just not Molitor.
  24. Yeah if it was OBP, they should have called him back up yesterday!
  25. http://mlb.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=l135&t=p_pbp&pid=543305 Bad couple of days but OBP is still .733.
