It's all Brock's fault!!!!! (J/K). Part of it is demographics (us old f**ts) but a lot of it is lower cable subscriber numbers than other areas.

•The Rays‘ list of candidates to replace Joe Maddon could include bench coach Dave Martinez, Triple-A manager Charlie Montoyo, FOX Sports analyst Gabe Kapler, White Sox coach Joe McEwing and former Rangers interim manager Tim Bogar, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times writes. Topkin notes that Martinez has interviewed for five other managerial jobs already. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/10/east-notes-nationals-phillies-hamels-rays.html Topkin notes that Martinez has interviewed for five other managerial jobs already. I realize that was in prior years but I'm still surprised he was never selected.

What do you think of the 12/31 contract date? Has this been standard for the Twins for some time or relatively recent? Really seens to hamstring the coaches,. I think most will end up in the organization somewhere.

http://blogs.twincities.com/twins/2014/10/25/twinsights-joe-maddon-looking-big-challenge-agent-says/ There is a lot to think about in this story. Maddon “looking for a big challenge”? The Twins certainly present that. But he is also “looking for an organization that’s committed to win. If those elements are together and the talent for them is quick, we’ll make it quick. If not, he’s prepared to take a year off.” The only way I see Maddon in Minnesota is if the Pohlads get involved NOW. Ryan alone can’t convince the fans (or a savvy Joe Maddon) of that commitment. That has to come from ownership (remember the commitment to surround Mauer with talent?). The challenge is big. The prospects are there. It’s time for the Pohlads to prove that they are committed to championship level baseball in Minnesota.

SDBuhr ‏@JimCrikket · 3m3 minutes ago Is Maddon really interested in talking to the Twins? Or really interested in having another bidder to make sure the Cubs pay max dollars? Are the Twins really interested in Maddon or just going through the motions to pacify fans?

It was just the language that got me ,,, it comes out better in the story than in the tweets: http://blogs.twincities.com/twins/2014/10/24/twinsights-terry-ryan-says-joe-maddon-news-caught-eye/

Does he become a free agent before the series is over?

Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino · 1m1 minute ago Terry Ryan confirmed Miguel Sano will not play winter ball in DR. No setbacks post-TJ, but "doctors do not want him to play." (emphasis added) Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino · 19s19 seconds ago Hope had been Miguel Sano might join Estrellas by December. Doctors "don't want him to risk the possibility of a collision," Ryan said.

Ironic that Maddon supposedly learned of the "opt out" clause from Silverman. Won't know much on my arm until Thurs when I see the surgeon. Still typing one handed but I ordered a carpal tunnel brace that may give me just the support I need. Thanks for asking.

Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN · 43m43 minutes ago Rival executives believe that if Joe Maddon winds up with the Cubs, the Rays will investigate the issue of tampering. May not help Renteria, though.

I would be fielding calls not seeking out employers if I was Maddon and his agent. We're not talking about some mid-level corporate job -- Maddon can wait for the offers to come to him. A bit of an arrogant view? Perhaps, but Maddon is a prime commodity. He is the "sought after" not the "seeker".

Remember 2010 when there was a mysterious entrant in the Cliff Lee sweepstakes? This reminds me of that -- it was fun to dream even if you knew that's all it would ever be.

Sometimes misspellings are just typos -- even with diligent proofreading, The quality of comments is generally significantly higher than on many other sites, A little kindness and understanding toward your fellow posters would not go amiss.

LaVelle E. Neal III ‏@LaVelleNeal · 4m4 minutes ago Spoke to someone close to Joe Maddon within the last 90 minutes. Twins have not contacted him yet. LaVelle E. Neal III ‏@LaVelleNeal · 3m3 minutes ago But several other teams have touched base and Maddon's camp has reached out to several teams. That's hilarious, considering only 2 jobs open I don't find it hilarious that the Twins haven't inquired unless they've made a decision .... nope not even then. But not sure if this means they haven't contacted his agent.

I don't know what sway he has but I think he is pretty well respected by the organization and I think there is a good chance he'll be at TF next year instead of Roc just not as manager. Hope there is good phone service from Venezuela to Maddon.

    Thanks.

What if Triple-A Rochester manager Gene Glynn, who spent five seasons as a Rays scout while Maddon was leading them to unimaginable heights, vouched for the quality of the Twins organization and future talent? Would that interest Maddon? http://blogs.twincities.com/twins/2014/10/24/twinsights-joe-maddon-next-twins-manager/ C'mon Gene ...you can be the next bench coach if Martinez stays in TB.
