  1. "Concur" as Chief would say. I would ask as I did in the other thread, what in the heck happened to the Twins belief in fundamental defense. It was as if it kept disappearing under Gardy and now has (seemingly? hopefully?) hit rock bottom.
  2. I do think we have to remember that they have faced some of the best pitching in the league. Not using it as an excuse so much as a plea for a little patience for the bats to come around. Yes, they have to be able to hit the best pitching at some point but I don't think we should be too surprised that they aren't at that point.
  3. I can't stand it, I can't stand it, I can't stand it. The phone calls have begun. The mail will soon follow along with TV & radio. It seems like we get very little reprieve from the d*mn election cycles. This isn't a criticism of your thread. Just an outburst about the next 18 or so months.
  4. I kind of like having it as a separate thread. It's one person's evaluation and I don't want to see it proliferate to multiple posters starting a thread of their own studs and duds but TKGuy jumped on this. So other posters could put their own lists here if they want. Also keeps the minor league report thread a little cleaner.
  5. I really looked at it for my own info more than the board. I knew that April was going to be rough and that it was all in the division - except Seattle which is rough anyway. What I didn't realize was that there are more games in the division in EACH of April and September than there are in June, July & August combined. The September/October schedule looks pretty normal to me but having so many games in the division in April seems a bit unusual (but then, maybe my memory just isn't good).
  6. Wonder if Hicks was pressing in those last 2 AB's trying to get a HR to complete the cycle. He had such a nice start to his day, it was a bit disappointing to see him end up with 2 strikeouts.
  7. April: 19 out of 22 games w/in the division May: 12 out of 27 games w/in the division June: 6 out of 28 games w/in the division July: 8 out of 25 games w/in the division August: 6 out of 28 games ;w/in the division September: 22 out of 28 games w/in the division October: 4 out of 4 games w/in the division There was a real premium put on a strong start. The Twins could be so buried by May 1 that even the anticipation of prospects won't be effective. Little room for playing spoiler until September.
  8. And on another light note, Rochester Red Wings ‏@RocRedWings · 8m8 minutes ago Aaron Hicks knocks in two more...this time with a triple and the Wings lead 5-1 mid 4. Hicks is 3 for 3 w/ a 2B, 3B & 4 RBI.
  9. Tomorrow is an off-day. A brief reprieve. But go ahead and round up some dragons for Wednesday.
  10. So, is Ron Gardenhire just shaking his head .... or is there a bit of secret enjoyment?
  11. But where are the clowns? Quick, send in the clowns. Don't bother, they're here.

  13. I was on the phone and looked up to see this mess. Not sure how it all happened -- and not sure I want to know.
  14. I actually like GBA when it is sung well and when they do the verse as well as the chorus. But the use of the chorus in BB games -- often by mediocre singers -- has almost ruined the song for me. The whole song is very meaningful when taken against the build-up to WW2 (or any war but that was the background.)
  15. I'd prefer that they do away with it as well but at least this guy kept it at a nice tempo.
  16. I'm sure that was just for Halsey.
  17. At least they found a competent singer for GBA.
  18. Too bad Tor-I-I wasn't playing RF on his own fly ball.
  19. That burns. He was so useless in Minny.
  20. Maybe the key is having starting pitchers whose last name starts with M ..... settle down, Alex Meyer and you could be next. Nice way to start, Trevor May.
  21. MLB apparently has a vendetta against the Twins: Patrick Reusse ‏@1500ESPN_Reusse · 2m2 minutes ago Joe West crew working this series. He's at first today. Torii better not check swing b/c we all know how the appeal will turn out.
  22. And if that doesn't happen? He doesn't come with a guarantee.

  24. I find the silver lining by reading the minor league summaries for the day. At least that gives me something to anticipate ... and reminds me that we could be stuck with the major league performance without any hope on the horizon.
