  1. Kids are always accepting so it was a great first choice for you. Thanks for sharing. Now its those appearances in front of adults that could be awkward!!! Best of luck to you this season -- and while I'm sure my fellow Iowans enjoy having you here, we hope you'll soon be promoted to Florida!!!
  2. I think the only time you can't buy liquor in Iowa is in the dead of morning -- 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.. That's probably to give the bars assistance in getting the drunks to leave. Sunday sales do require a separate permit -- gotta maximize those revenues. And yes, the alcohol is in a separate area in Wally World -- with doors that close & lock. But our local Hy-Vee has the liquor right in the aisles with other groceries-- I don't think they ever do much business from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. And Fareway is closed on Sundays and always from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. so their liquor is with the regular groceries. And we have a specal provision that allows regular Mon-Sat licenses to cover New Year's Eve if it is on a Sunday. But I remember when I was a kid, people used to drive to SDak to buy beer on Sunday.
  3. Last night I happened to read this piece by David Ortiz from a few weeks ago: http://www.theplayerstribune.com/david-ortiz-on-the-record/ It gave me a little change of perspective. I wonder what he would write now about the latest 4. Obviously if this was something being pushed in the DR this winter, both he and Sano avoided it (or are really ahead of the drug testers). It also raises the question of whether there were tainted supplements and if so, were all batches of the supplements tainted or was it hit and miss?
  4. I've tried very hard not to get too wrapped up in any of it. I've laughed (and groaned) when they were test-driving the clown car. I've cheered (and held my breath) when they were winning. I didn't have high expectations of this season. I would like to see some "graduations" from the minors to the majors but am well-aware that April is stll a little early for that (despite Kris Bryant's promotion today). I'm just glad it's spring ... and we have baseball.
  5. There are only 21 teams with a better record than the Twins. The Yankees are not one of them. The defending world champs are not one of them.
  6. Geez, Hunter's throw was wild again.
  7. That looked a little like the Royals found the clown car and wanted to try it out.
  8. Nice to see the Twins doing a little shelling.
  9. Because there hasn't been one in a while... a CIRCUS BOY innings update Bottom of the 8th, no outs Suzuki hits a 2 run-HR We are now in a pitching change and the score is 7-3, good guys.
  10. Finally caught up. Enjoyable game so far. Maybe they got rid of a lot of yips in the home opener.
  11. It's really on MLBN Alternate for me. I sat here waiting for it to come on MLBN and heard some guy yammering, yammering -- now I know why I don't watch them much. Brewers/Cards are on MLB here.
  12. LaVelle E. Neal III ‏@LaVelleNeal · 5m5 minutes ago Today's game is being televised by the MLB Network, NOT FSN. First pitch at 12:10 p.m.
  13. Thanks for upgrading my dreams.
  14. Now I'll be dreaming about Milk Duds.
  15. With all due respect to Jackie Robinson, I find all these 42s confusing.
  16. Just saw this tweet from a little while ago: LaVelle E. Neal III ‏@LaVelleNeal · 15m15 minutes ago And that' the 13th Royals hitter to be plunked already this season. This might be a little tired of it. Are Royals batters really crowding the plate? Now I have to watch for it,
  17. Hope this kick starts Arcia.
  18. Except in KC outfielders.
  19. As I understand it, the Twins used the same basic spring training plan as in the past -- with just a few tweeks. They were again one of the last to begin, I believe. Perhaps they need to revamp those plans.
  20. Hicks is looking like he wants to be back in Minny. Another triple tonight and an OF assist. Probably more fun in Rochester but the pays a lot better in the TC.
