  1. I'd like to request that people more carefully use D. Hicks or A. Hicks since they are both in the minors. -- especially in thread titles but also occasionally when people are just posting in one thread or another. It sometimes gets confusing. I know there are a few other duplicate names but for some reason this is the one that always gets me -- perhaps because they are both doing reasonably well this season. Thanks.
  2. After the last few years of taking whomever was available at AAA, this is ridiculous. Having a little "extra" in reserve (more before than Santana debacle) is a good thing. A logistical problem, perhaps but far better than the alternatives we saw last few years. Or has the cliche, "you can never have too much good ptiching" gone by the wayside?
  3. It is nice to have this problem -- maybe they can select among pitchers who are doing well instead of having to take whatever dregs are available.
  4. Pelfrey has been a joy to watch the last 2 games. There is a crispness to his pitching and he is maintaining a good pace. (So good that the games have just flown by). Given his pre-Twins record, I think you give him a chance to continue it. I'd probably send Nolasco or Milone to the pen but then I've yet to see anything good from Nolasco in a Twins uniform so its hard to want him in the rotation.
  5. The Twins will view themselves as a contender until after the All Star break.
  6. It looks like the game is on MLB network - Alternative on Dish (per the schedule on twinsbaseball.com and the onscreen guide on Dish). Rays vs. Yankees is on the main MLBN station. I love afternoon games. Today I'll open up the windows and enjoy the warmth (and maybe take a quick stroll or two) to ceelebrate spring.
  7. Good game. I love that Perk is actually getting a chance at saves not just keeping his arm loose.
  8. Well, Arcia started off right with a single.
  9. Rhett Bollinger ‏@RhettBollinger · 8s8 seconds ago Just looking through his strikeout logs, it looks like the last time Mike Pelfrey struck out the side in any inning was May 12, 2010 vs Nats
  10. Has that happened in recent memory??
  11. Wow, Pelfrey is working quickly. And looking great.
  12. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2015/04/27/josh-hamilton-rangers-return-angels-arte-moreno/26472867/ I don't detect much owning up for his actions. I see him blaming Moreno for not understanding the nature of an addict. When I read other articles, he makes it clear he thinks Moreno knew what he was getting into under the JDA. And maybe Moreno did but that still seems like shifting blame to me. I also don't see him apologizing to the fans, his family or friends. All in all, it just makes my blood boil.
  13. Chalk a good 1/2 inning up for Big Pelf.
  14. Frankly, I agree with a lot of what he said although he crossed the line in some of his descriptions. I think the Angels handled this badly and are getting what they deserve BUT I also think that Hamilton ISN'T taking much responsibiity for his actions. His statements have enraged me and I don't even care much about him or the Angels. The JDA seems excessively weighted in favor of the player with no way for teams to protect themselves regarding its provisions. Hamilton will still end up getting an enormous salary. He'll probably end up relapsing again and again over the course of his life. And yes, the media also enables him through their coverage. Call me old-fashioned and unsympathetic. i know addiction is almost impossible to overcome but I don't think that Hamilton had to face the fans -- or himself -- and admit what has happened.
  15. Ted ‏@tlschwerz · 5h5 hours ago Mike Pelfrey owns a 2.65 ERA and a 5.43 FIP...YIKES!!! #MNTwins Wrap your head around that one. I guess we can only hope that the 2nd number comes down a lot faster than the 1st one goes up!
  16. Broadcast it over the air (i.e cable not required). Give most of the residents of Baltimore something else to think about - for free!
  17. I thought this was supposed to be "FUN" with numbers. Not seeing it right now.
  18. We'll get 'em tomorrow night!
  19. Just after buying 2 new pairs of shoes!
  20. Here's an article to make Halsey choke: http://www.105theticket.com/2015/04/27/warne-the-minnesota-twins-secret-extension-candidate/
  21. Bah humbug. Joe is my pick for this series. Try not to lose me points.
  22. 1 inning at a time, Chi 1 inning at a time.
  23. Well, that's one ... there's plenty of time yet.
