  1. Can you please explain to me how Ryan is not helping this team win? What exactly was he supposed to do this off-season to turn them into a power house? What was the Thrylos98 plan of attack? ( feel free to even use hindsight in your answer on this one) Also, Gardy has his faults as well, but is still one of the better managers in the game, not sure exactly how he has kept this team from winning this year...unless you fault him for pitching injuries and his inability to teach Blackburn to throw 95 MPH heat.
  2. The more I think about it, the more absurd I think it is that people want to run Ryan out of town. Its been a rough two years no doubt, but getting rid of a talented GM like Ryan is doing more harm than good (example: See what happened last time we lost Ryan) You think people in Oakland are calling for Billy Beane's head since they have had a few rough years?
  3. Are you making a point with this? Because as DPJ pointed out this is not even close to something that can excuse that trade. But since I am bored...Salaries have been pointed out already. -Ramos is still under team control for several more years and is still young. -The Twins already had a capable closer in Rauch, and had Nathan coming back for the future. NTM closer is a rather easy position to fill. -The Twins had no reason to trade from a position of weakness, Mauer still had injury issues at the time and you need to look no further than Drew Butera to see just who the Twins had on the depth chart behind Ramos. That trade was awful then, and with each year looks more and more awful.
  4. Ryan was and may still be one of the better GM's around, Bill Smith's tenure was nothing short of awful/poor. Wilson Ramos for Matt Capps. Need I say any more?
  5. So your saying players generally start hitting worse as they move up the organizational ladder and start having to face better competition? Interesting...
  6. How is he a scapegoat? Not one deal outside of the Scott Diamond pick up was a good move on his part. The Gomez for Hardy trade is a wash because he turned around and traded Hardy for Hoey!
  7. Are we talking about the same Phillip Humber that has a 6.01 ERA this year? Yes, damn the Twins for not teaching him that! Dickey shouldn't be in the conversation at all, its literally a once in a lifetime scenario and he was a emergency starter for a playoff team when he was with the Twins, there was literally no space for him. A rebuilding team like the Mets did have space for him eventually, then magically he figured out how to master the knuckleball. It's a great baseball story, and the Twins can't take any blame for letting him go at the time. It's just a case of wrong place/wrong time for them. Marquis sucks and is a 5th starter for a NL team like he has always been. His results in the AL while disappointing were not shocking. Lohse is an NL baby, don't make me post the NL/AL pitching comic again.
  8. What exactly were those quotes in reference to? I highly doubt the question asked were "Can you handle being a GM and his answer was that he lacks the intelligence or some other B.S." Ryan has his faults no doubt, but its hard to knock his past success as the Twins GM and even his recent success this past off-season. Smith is the one who took a perennial division winning team and turned them into a last place team. However with that said, I'd be interested to see just how long Ryan is committed to be the Twins GM, the interim label always had me skeptical, if he plans on being around for the next 3+ years than I say keep him around, however if its just a 1-2 year type thing for him its probably better to grab someone sooner than later now that the team is rebuilding.
  9. Good to see Sano get back into the HR column with a nice night. Also nice to see Arcia starting to hit again after a pretty brutal start in AA.
  10. Interested in Bruce Chen? he has been on fire lately
  11. If he truly is a AAAA player then he def has a spot on this current Twins team unfortunately :/
  12. They say he can be a Perkins type pitcher (but a starter!)
  13. Liriano is making 5.5 million this year. I wouldn't give him 10 million a year, and I don't think he will get anywhere near that on the FA market, a 1 year/7 mil deal or 2/13 I would be interested in. But that is only because I always have this feeling he is due for an amazing run. Fool me once..etc I know, but I can't shake the feeling where he could just go lights out one year and lead a team to the playoffs. With that all said, if Grienke is unavailable or at least partially unavaible (won't goto a major market) Liriano very well could find himself as the best candidate on the block (Garza will cost a lot prospect wise), if you can get a nice prospect or two for him you don't hesitate for a second to pull the trigger. However if you are offered garbage maybe you keep him around and hope you can resign him?
  14. It just happened 3 more times to me once the ads were turned back on, it made it all the way down to your post then loaded blank. Why don't you just shorten up the entire "post' boxes by 300 or so pixels (since ones without ads just have an awkward white space anyways) and then run the 300 x 250 ads on a side bar down the page? 2-3 per page?
  15. I noticed you turned off the in post 300 x 250 ads a few minutes ago, ever since you did that it has been working fine for me.
  16. No way would Baker and Liriano get 20mm on the free agent market.
  17. I'd prefer Morneau takes this year to re-learn to hit lefties or whatever he needs to do to be ready for 2013.
  18. Is Liriano the most frustrating player in not only the history of this franchise, but in all of baseball as well? I have no idea what I want them to do with Frankie as I am sure he will turn to crappy Liriano again if they sign him to a 2 year deal, but I could very well see him turning into CY Young Liriano if he signs elsewhere...like St. Louis..grrr....
  19. Whatever marginal prospect the Twins could get for Morneau at this point is not worth the PR backlash the team will receive from fans. I know there are some people who want to go with the "gut the team completely and aim for 2014" but in reality you can't do that, you need fans to continue to have a reason to tune into games, come to games and buy merchandise for the rest of 2012 and into 2013.
  20. FWIW I just had to open/re-open this very thread 4 times in order to see your response, the first time all responses but yours showed up, the 2nd and 3rd only the first post in this thread showed up. If I had to guess anything it might be a specific ad code or code coming from the ad server when a specific set of ad(s) loads/pops on a page. It doesn't look like a server issue to me as things are still either loading quickly, just things seem to be cut off from time to time. If you want I can hook you up with our Hungarian programmers who can probably debug/find the issue in a few hours time.
  21. The other problem that exists with a guy like Drabek is that he has been complete garbage his entire time in the majors, 5.34 ERA, and a god awful 5.9/5.8 k/bb ratio, now through the TJ surgery in and he is at an all time low in value, the Jays have no reason to trade him (unless some dumb team offers you great value).
  22. Dude pig, its happening to a good number of people on the site, it has happened with my firefox and safari browsers, and it has happened to me throughout the past few days day and night, the only device I haven't had an issue on it is with the iphone browser. I don't know what versions of the browsers I have but it shouldn't be an issue, 99.9999999% of the web works for me, this is the one site that seems to have issues. At this point I don't mind having to refresh a page 3-4 times to see a thread, however it could get old and drive away users pretty quickly. Also, is it really necessary to have 2+ video ads running per page all at once in the 300 x 250 ad units? I know you can talk to whichever network you are getting those from and request those be turned off.
  23. I don't think it happens because teams (other then Bill Smith Run teams) typically don't like trading a player when his value is at an all time low. I'd imagine the Blue Jays have some faith that Drabek will rebound and be a nice young starting pitcher for them for years to come, they won't simply give that up for a rental like Carl Pavano or something. (Unless of course Bill Smith was the GM)
  24. I get your point, but in all honesty, if the Twins are going to be playing Mauer 60+ games a year at 1B+DH, I can't see Gardy going down to only two catchers on the roster anytime in the next year or two. It's frustrating as hell, but prob time we just accept this as inevitable.
  25. Hey buddy, how dare you tread on a Tosoni like prospect, those guys only come around once maybe twice in a blue moon for an orginzation!
