  1. Royals with the ultimate jinx of Revere: "Revere is one of the hardest players in baseball to strike out"
  2. Mastroianni has been pretty impressive as of late (late June) I'd be real interested to see him get a little playing time at 2B if he can handle it.
  3. IMVHO here is how I have the Twins stacked up: 1. Sano 2. Buxton 3. Arcia 4. Hicks 5. Rosario 6. Gibson 7. Goodrum That is a pretty solid 1-6 to be honest and a strong case could be made for the top 3 to be in the top 40 prospects overall, with Hicks and Rosario somewhere in the 60-90 range and I still think Gibson is a top 100 guy if he comes back from the injury healthy.
  4. That is pretty ridiculous, the Brooklyn Dodgers were as beloved as any baseball team and you don't see a bunch of folks here rooting for the LA Dodgers. Just like you don't see a bunch of Twins fans in D.C.
  5. Plouffe confirmed for Tommy John surgery by the end of the week.
  6. Blackburn was impressive tonight, it would go a long ways if we could trust him to be a #5 again onto 2013. That way Ryan can focus on bringing in one less pitcher in during FA and ideally bring in a front line rotation guy or two.
  7. If a couple things break right I could be competitive as early as next year. Glad my team decided to have its best week of the year this week, basically bumped me from the 3rd pick to the 6th pick. I still think its bull**** that there are two teams that are more or less allowed to tank with no repercussions, if you don't get at least 8 wins they should really think about taking away your early draft pick.
  8. According to MLBtraderumors the Twins would have interest assuming he passed through waivers.
  9. His route was awful, any CF in MLB and 95% in AAA should have made that catch.
  10. So basically Burton and Perkins were unavailable? I'm not sure what else they were supposed to do then, Swarzak has been pretty decent in the pen and his 9th inning just showed that as well. I'm personally more upset that Span didn't catch that ball in CF, he took an absolutely awful route, if the Twins lose this game this will be twice in the past week or so that Span's defense basically lost the game for the Twins.
  11. At least we now know that Roberston is nothing special.
  12. That quote is amazing Mauer is hitting the ball very well these days.
  13. I'm pretty confident if the Twins offered him 3/30 he would accept immediately. It should also be noted he had the lowest FIP in the AL in 2010, so its not like these last 10 starts have come out of no where. How to fix the rotation: Give Liriano 3/24mm-30mm contract with a 4th year team option. Give Baker a 1 year 2 mil base contract, up to 5 mil with IP (1 Mil for every milestone 100 IP, 120, 140,160, 180) or sign some veteran dude for 3-4 million. I also wouldn't mind taking a run at Josh Johnson who shouldn't break the bank. Liriano Baker Diamond Gibson Hendriks In the wings (Walters, DeVries, Wimmers?, Blackburn)
  14. Where exactly would that money be spent though?
  15. He is the only one in the system who even has the ability to come close to posting 25k's in his last two starts. I'd prefer 2/18 with a 10 mil team option, but would be totally fine with up to a 3/30 which is more or less what the Twins gave Pavano. The upside is to high to just trade him away for a C+/B- prospect at this point.
  16. I'd still prefer they sign him to a 2-3 yeard deal. But at this point you either gotta sign him now or move him for a solid prospect.
  17. No on Pavano.
  18. Hypothetical: Capps is out the rest of the year or the majority of the rest of the year, the Twins aren't going to pick up his option, would you be for them offering him a 1 year/2mil contract for 2013? (keep in mind this would really only be $1.5 million since they would owe him 500k for declining the option anyways)
  19. Joe Mauer has a higher career OPS, OPS+, BA and OBP then the following players:Yogi Berra Ivan Rodriguez Johnny Bench Rod Carew (trailing slight in BA) Kirby Pickett
  20. Reported for Spam.
  21. I agree with this 100%. However once Liriano is gone, and hell even before that there is plenty of room for both Hendriks AND Blackburn in the rotation. It's not like Blackburn is blocking Liam at all. August 1st we are looking at this for a rotation: 1. Diamond 2. Walters?? 3. Hendriks?? 4. DeVries?? 5. Blackburn?? If you wanted to make the argument that Swarzak or Duensing should be getting starts over Blackburn I guess you could, but I think both are much better served in the pen.
  22. I'm pointing out his career stats, I'm not defending him or saying him is some sure thing great pitcher. I am saying it would be best for the Twins if he could come back and post a 4.50 ERA as a #5 pitcher. I'd much rather have that then them go out and waste money on the next Marquis would would put up a similar line. The money is already owed to Blackburn at this point, I'd at least like to see him recoup a little bit of the value. If he puts up a 4.50 ERA next year maybe we could even flip him next year at the deadline for a C level prospect.
  23. His walk rate definately needs to come down for him to be effective again, agree 100% on that.Yes he did out pitch his FIP and xFIP in 2008 and 2009, but even then those 4 numbers were between 4.37-4.49. In 2010 his xFIP was 4.46 and last year it was 4.32. Even factoring in this rough year his career xFIP is 4.48. That is why I think if he can come back healthy and lower his walk rate he can give us 170 IP and a 4.50 ERA. If he does that you are looking at a 1.0-1.5 WAR player, which you can live with out of your #5. It's an extremely SSS but in his 4 starts at AAA he did lower his walk rate and was pretty effective. So there is so hope, run him out there for another 5-6 starts and if he continues to pitch awful then by all means DFA if you have someone better on the roster, at this point the Twins probably don't.
  24. Last year he had a 4.49 ERA, while not earth shattering that isn't that awful for a #5. From 2008-2011 he averaged 177 IP with a 4.45 ERA. He has obviously been bugged by an injury this year, there is no reason why he can't get back to a 4.50 ERA moving forward.
  25. Would you guys trade Trumbo for Jose Bautista?
