  1. Apparenlty my MLB.tv is on a delay, its 1-1 to Willingham now.
  2. Your bit is getting extremely tiresome.
  3. Wow, Morneau was clearly safe. More ****ty umpiring.
  4. Don't try to sugarcoat that start, it was awful. Still like Nick said, this isnt going to hurt his value THAT much, though it certainly doesn't help.
  5. Also it should be noted that even with the lack of hitting Carroll has been rated very highly defensively this year, at this point he is already a 1.0 WAR player on the season and should end up close to a 2 WAR player, that and his versatility is worth the 3.75 million he is owed next year IMO. This indicates to me that the Twins or Nationals shouldn't view this as a salary dump, the Nationals def need to send back some sort of prospect. (C-, think a guy that will slot into the Twins 20-30 range)
  6. I'd prefer they got some sort of prospect back, but be prepared: If we get rid of Carroll that almost insures Casilla will be back next year at only a mil or so less then Carroll would cost. I don't see anyone else in the org who looks like an answer at 2B unless the Twins give Plouffe a shot at the position.
  7. Perkins gave a nice shout out to Battle Your Tail Off when the site was shut down a few weeks ago, he will forever be ok in my book.
  8. I should have clarffied further, if it's an impact player like Mauer/Morneau/Span/Willingham/Plouffe/Doumit I def think you use the 7 or 8 day window. If it was someone like Carroll/Casilla/Butera/Revere I think you consider DLing them right away. 2-3 days in.
  9. I wouldn't mind seeing Burroughs called back up, not because I think he is great but I'd like to see him succeed at the major league level. Everyone else is pretty awful to be honest. I imagine a bruised/sore finger is tough to diagnosis time wise. I mean I am surprised he can't play but he must not be able to hold a bat currently. I think Mauer missed 4 games with that? Either way, if Plouffe misses 8 or less days then there was no reason to DL him, hell even if he is out 10 days I think this was the right choice.
  10. Yeah basically this, also the Mariners would never trade King Felix for Sano. Nor would it make any sense for the Twins to. This thread is quite silly to be honest, if you wanted to ask "Should the Twins try to trade Sano for a top pitching prospect" then maybe it would have legs, but prospect for prospect swaps are extremely rare.
  11. Yeah, but in those 133 innings he pitched well, just like he has the rest of his career! I forgot pitchers like Baker and even Blackburn had a couple nice years. Also Liriano and Santana were NOT major league ready when the Twins got them. The whole reason they got Santana in the rule 5 draft is because the team that gave him up didn't think he was major league ready. He had only pitched as high as low A ball when they got him and he was 20 years old. The Twins did amazing with their development of Santana. Ditto with Liriano, he was 19 when the Twins got him and had all of one inning pitched above low A ball.
  12. 2014 at the very least they would be fast as hell and amazing defensively.
  13. Garza, Radke and they developed guys like Santana and Liriano. That "bunch" won 6 titles in 9 years.
  14. Guys like Perkins and Plouffe have both been nice draft picks Revere looks like he can contribute in the majors, Ramos turned into a nice player as did Garza, Loshe and others. Also Arica, Hicks, Rosario, Buxton, Gibson and Benson are all within a year or two from potentially being impact players in the bigs. It's not as big of a wasteland as people make it out to be. IMO what killed them more than anything else was getting nothing but garbage for Santana, how nice would it have been if we would have taken any of the other rumored packages out there? We should have gotten at least one very good major leaguer (all-star) and one or two others that eventually would contribute. All we got were a 4th OF, a AAAA pitcher (humber) and a couple AAA relief pitchers. Ouch.
  15. I would do that in a heartbeat. I doubt Cincy would though. 2014 lineup featuring Hamilton, Hicks, Mauer, Willingham, Arcia, Benson, Doumit, Plouffe would be drool inducing.
  16. Yeah that group of Cuddyer, Mauer, Morneau, Kubel and Span that the Twins drafted and developed sure were crappy!
  17. They repositioned Smith in the organization. I will be the first to say that Smith was a pretty awful GM, that doesn't mean he can't be an asset in other areas of the organization though, if anything I applaud the Twins and Smith for not just kicking him to the curb but finding him a role where he can continue to benefit the team like he did prior to his GM stint.
  18. Pretty much this. With limited funds he added two impact bats for less than 10 million dollars, moving forward over the next couple years the lineup appears to be in pretty good shape, of course there are still issues of 2B/SS, but when you have 7 other competant hitters in the lineup you can afford to have your puntos, casillas and Doziers at the bottom 1 or 2 spots of the lineup. The real issue you have is when you have 3-4 sub .700 OPS guys in your lineup all at once. At this point Ryan should have 20 or so million to dedicate to starting pitching this off-season, if Span and Morneau are traded that number could jump to close to 40 million to spend. I like his chances to be honest, not only because of this past off-season, but because he has had so much success in the past with this club. 6 division titles in 9 years with teams he put together is track record Billy Beane and about 22 other GM's wishes they had.
  19. You realize that not all rebuilds are 4+ year rebuilds right? When he said they needed to be rebuilt I imagine he had a 2-3 year timeline in mind (good chance to win division in 2014). Willingham, Doumit and Caroll all filled a need at the time, Willingham was the bat set to replace Kubel/Cuddyer, Doumit was the back up catcher that we have been begging for ever since Butera got his first major league at bat and Carroll provided some insurance and stability at the MI spots. Even when a team is rebuilding they have a responsibility to put a major league club onto the field night in and night out, signing 1 year contracts is never a bad move and Doumit preformed great in that role and looks like he will be a big part of the rebuilding club. Carroll is hurting nothing long term as is Doumit, unless you think that giving Nishioka, Casilla or the next Tolbert more playing time at SS/2B would help the team as would giving Butera more at bats behind the plate. Neither of these guys are hurting the rebuilding effort!
  20. Honest question: Does the original poster understand that Major League Baseball works a little differently then Fantasy baseball? The reason why Span/Willingham/Capps/Liriano all weren't traded in May is because there is next to no market for them. I'd imagine any team looking to bring Span on will be more focused on his long term numbers rather than a 1 month sample size, that would seem prudent since they would be getting him for 3 years or so. Overall this seemed like a pretty baseless rant that had no purpose or point.
  21. I'm a huge Ichiro fan and I am actually happy for him (even though I hate the Yankees) dude deserves a shot at a ring.
  22. And yet some people choose to ignore it time and time again. It's like a parent telling his child to clean his room 4 times.
