  1. Unless Danny V turns it around in a big way I can't see him being apart of this org heading into 2013.
  2. I would have traded Burton or anyone else in the pen not named Perkins for him in a heart beat. There is a log jam of OF currently, but we are an injury, a trade or Revere reverting to 2011 away from being suddenly a bit shallow. Though it didn't really fit in the Twins plans to bring in another OF at this point to be honest as there just wasn't the at bats to give him.
  3. Honestly, I'd be dissapointed is if they don't trade Carroll today, or if you won't trade Carroll trade Alexi for anything you can get. I'd prefer we trade Span for some great package today as well but I just don't think it is out there at this point, maybe the trade market in the off-season will be better. I'd like to hold onto Willingham and Morneau on into next season, unless we are blown away by an offer. Pavano and Capps should both be dealt in August
  4. Agreed on all points. At the end of the day meidocre players get traded for medicore prospects. If Escobar can stick as a UTIL guy for a few years or Hernandez can crack the rotation for a couple years this trade goes down as a nice win for Ryan.
  5. Wow I didn't realize Perkins was signed that long, yeah, no reason to trade him unless you are overwhelmed by an offer, besides he should gather more trade value as he continues to be a "proven" closer. I sorta wish he would stay in his previous role, but if the choices are roll with Perkins at closer or go out and trade/sign the next "proven" Capps on the market give me Perkins in the 9th and Burton in the 8th.
  6. This isn't about what you think of the trade, there are 30 other threads for that, this is about how you think he will pitch tomorrow against the Twins.
  7. Saw him play tonight at Yankee stadium, not an awe inspiring performance as he didn't make solid contact all night. Hopefully he gets a couple hits before he is cast off. Always liked Lew and I am hoping he can succeed even though all signs point to the opposite at this point.
  8. Sano went 2-4. No strike outs!
  9. fun fact: Willingham has a 2.667 OPS against Liriano 1-2, 1 HR, 2RBI, 1BB
  10. That's all fine and dandy if the Twins don't want to be serious about an offer, but the Mariners don't and won't make that trade straight up. Period. There is literally zero reason for them to do so. If Willingham was about 7 years younger and still under team control for 3-4 years then they would prob consider it. But as it is now? No way in hell. That would be 5x worse then us trading away Sano and Arcia for RA Dickey.
  11. Since May 27th the Twins are 29-26.
  12. Instead of paying 8+ million of his salary this year/next year to bring back nothing of value this year in a trade? No team is going to take on that contract outright at this point, and no team is certainly going to take that contract and give back some nice prospect at that same time. might as well hope he continues his recent hot streak and becomes a desirable big bat at the deadline next season if the Twins are out of it (ala Carlos Beltran last year)
  13. Pig, please fix ASAP
  14. Prediction thread: My guess: 4 IP 6 H 6 ER 2 HR 4BB 4K Mauer will get on base every time he faces him. Willingham will hit a HR
  15. John, I think you are a good blogger and all, but this post is absolute horsecrap to be totally honest. I get that "bloggers" have to be more hard on the org then most traditional journalists, but frankly this is a joke, I would expect this from some poster like Thrylos who tries to bitch about everything Ryan does, but from one of the 4 owners of this site? I am a bit surprised, so I will chalk this one up to you trying to stir the pot for the sake of discussion? All teams needed to see in regards to Liriano was his 5.07 ERA last year and his 5.31 ERA this year. To pretend that the Twins somehow mishandled the trade or missed out on some top tier prospect due to not letting him have one more start is beyond ridiculous. Even in his "outstanding" June/July (According to you and others) resurgence from the dead (after being brought back from the bullpen) he had a 3.48 ERA in those 11 games with a 4.10 ERA in his last 8 starts and a 5.24 ERA in his last 5 starts. Yes, he was better, but was he really "outstanding", "acelike", "top of the rotation quality" as some were claiming? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. So basically he continued to be the enigma that he has been the past 4 seasons. Unless he went out and threw a complete game shut out with 16k's in his last start he wasn't going to net anything much more than what they got.
  16. Go check out the minor league board. But as a sneak preview: Sano, Aricia, Hicks, Rosario, Kepler, Vargas.
  17. 1. Mauer getting back to normal. Dude is a class act and a great ball player. As someone who was too young to remember when Kirby made the team (but old enough to goto game 7 in 91!!) I am thrilled to follow Joe Mauer from the draft to now putting together a hall of fame career. 2. Morneau being healthy. It would have been very sad if he never would have came back. 3. Diamond and Plouffe busting onto the scene. Reminds us that even if a player isn't a top 100 prospect (or even close) they still can turn into a very nice player ( or even more) 4. Willingham, best FA signing of the off season in all of baseball? Gives me hope for a Ryan lead team moving forward and he has a shot to be the 2nd 40 HR guy in club history. 5. butera- there are prob 3000 people in the country who could our hit him, but he is making a living playing the game the "right way" I think he gets to many starts and to much credit for things, but it's still nice to see someone without the most natural talent making a few bucks. 6.Revere- I was a critic no doubt, but he has put together a nice season with great defense, great speed and an ability to put the ball in play. "when you put the ball in play good things can happen" I still think he can become a Juan Pierre which in no way is a bad thing. 7. Perkins-looked like a lost cause for awhile, now looks like he could be a solid closer for the next 2 years. 8. Doumit- fills a hole (part time catcher) and wants to stay in Minnesota. 9. Deduno-lifetime minor leaguer more or less. At age 29 when many would have given up having a few nice starts. 10. Top prospects overall have been kicking some ass!
  18. I assume this is as close as you come to admiting you were mistaken. I will take it.
  19. You have to be trolling at this point, you can't seriously think any of this garbage is true.
  20. I assume he is talking about Zack Greinke. And yes obviously Greinke=Liriano. The situations were basically mirror images of themselves Also the package the Brewers got for Grienke wasn't exactly awe inspiring anyways.
  21. Didn't the Twins get Pavano from the Indians for Pino? That helped out the team quite a bit to be honest. Might as well return the favor (I believe Thome specifically asked to be traded to Cleveland anyways), some day when the White Sox or Indians are down and out and the Twins are in a race hopefully they can give us a rental for cheap as well. I know we all hate the white sox, but it seems like the managers/GM's/Org have always had a lot of respect for each other. I liked ozzie, like Ventura and Williams and they have plenty of guys who are nice to root for (Konerko, Peavy, AJ), the things that make me hate them are the fans and Hawk.
  22. Is this a serious question?
