The most frustrating thing about all of this nonsense is everyone KNEW this would happen, and that during the off-season this would have been a rather easy at least partial fix.

I don't like to make too big of a deal (lol jk) out of a small slate of games in the regular season (especially this early) but I think these next three games are going to show us a TON of what the Twins are ultimately made of, and if they are contenders, or pretenders. Basically the Twins have lost 3 games in a row, the first two were absolute heart-breakers that should have been wins, and the third was a loss with their young ace Berrios on the mound. All three of those are confidence shattering losses for young teams....potentially. That's why these next 3 games are key: The Twins burned their best two pitchers in back to back losses and the bullpen...well we all know what they have done recently. The Twins need to show some resiliency starting tonight, Santiago who has been solid needs to give them 7 strong and they need to salvage this series with the Stros. Then with Mejia and Gibson (Gulp) on the mound they need to win one of those two vs the Angels to get themselves a bit back on track. If they end up losing the next 3, that drops them to .500, and likely at least a game or two back of the Indians, and if that's the case I am afraid that will be the last we see of the Twins in first place. Hopefully this team is young enough to literally not worry about what has happened the past 72 hours, and can go out and get a win tonight to switch the momentum back around a bit.

Not sure how Molitor "ruined" Perkins. Arm injuries happen. May? I still think yo-yoing him between SP and RP was the larger issue. Tonkin? Come on man...you are reaching with this one. -

When you give up 14 runs in two innings, I'm not sure you can defend anyone that had anything to do with that debacle. Hopefully that was just a one time thing from Molly. Mistakes happen, hopefully he won't do it again Giving up 14 runs in two innings should happen to a club like once every 4-5 years, and should never happen in a game where they are leading by 6 runs and only need 6 outs!! -

The Twins had to pay OT to one of their players? Did someone hit an innings bonus? I don't get this comparison at all to be honest.

Depends on where the two new guys were called up from? We talking Waffle House? Or AA (Burger king)?

Results are what matter. Santana has continued to pitch like a 1/2, Berrios looks like a 1/2, santiago has been a fine 3. Overall the rest has been a disaster, no doubt about it. But Mejia at least looks the part the past couple starts to be a #5....or even better! They just need another capabale arm IMO.

I'm not sure why Molly (and co) feel the need to continue to run life long MI out to corner OF once or twice a week. I really don't understand it at all. If we aren't going to play Buxton everyday, we need a legitimate 4th OF. Running out no hit, no field back up MI guys? That's NOT what winning ball clubs do. Also, if you are going to send down Vargas for a guy bc your bullpen is depleted, why on earth do you refuse to use said guy in a game when you are UP by six runs? I'm not a molitor manager fan at all, but even I am saying you can't fire him at this point (team is in first place) but even if you are a Molly fan, how can you defend the way he has managed this game? Also: the love affair with bunting HAS to stop. Buxton isn't going to get better when he is asked to bunt every other at bat.

Santana, Berrios and santiago are a solid start to a rotation, Mejia can slot in as a #5, but I agree they need another real arm.

I don't mind Kintzler at closer. He has been good enough so far. I'd much rather they fix the MRP instead of overpaying for a "proven" closer.

Yeah the lack of a quick hook is what is most frustrating.

I'm not blaming the lack of talent of the bullpen on Molitor, I have been saying all off season and season that it was a big time fail to not address it in anything resembling a meaningful way. I don't think molitor does himself a lot of favors with the Pen though. I do think he can tend to overthink it, and doesn't have a quick enough hook at times.

If you can't trust the "new guy" with a 6 run lead, what is the point of having him up at all?

Im not saying give up good prospects for bullpen help. But you can easily get guys who will be "OK" for PTBNL types or low end prospects (not in top 25)

I'm not sure its a pitching coach issue, and they won't fire Molitor mid season (or in first place...though I would be on board) but I think the rest of your points make a lot of sense.

Creating room on the 40 man roster shouldn't be a concern or an issue IMO plenty of guys that can be let go.

This isn't a pile on session, but it's pretty clear that this bullpen is cooked. We now have multiple guys with 8.00+ ERA's, and outside of Kintzler, Rogers and Duffey, I don't feel OK with any of the rest of them in any situation. Two games in a row they have cost the Twins a game. How are they going to fix this? How would you? I would suggest: Aggressive, aggressive, aggressive promotions from AA Aggressive trades....starting now!
