  1. I agree 100% that Plouffe should have been traded for anything resembling anything of value.Even if that is a single B or B- prospect or two. I have a hard time agreeing with the thought they should have just "let him walk" however. Sano should have went into the season as the third baseman, but of course here we are, hopefully a contender can "lose" a 3rd baseman soon, and the Twins can ship off Plouffe and get something decent in return.
  2. I am far, far, far from a TR fan but I would like to make a couple points below: 1. The Dodgers took on Fien, yay! 2. It's hard to fault him for the Perkins deal, at the time it was a very "Team friendly" type extension and Perkins was one of the better closers in the league (and continued to be) It's hard to predict an otherwise healthy guy would suddenly get the injury bug. 3. If Mauer keeps up his production, it's not inconceivable that he hypothetically "could" be moved. He is only signed for two more years after this and worse contracts have been moved before. However, the Twins shouldn't trade Mauer, nor would they due to his NTC. Either way, I refuse to fault TR for signing Mauer long term. 4. Plouffe could easily be traded, his salary isn't cost prohibitive at all really, again, what is TR supposed to do, let Plouffe walk? 5. Ditto with Jepsen. Now the Nolasco, Suzuki and Hughes (extension) are all complete disasters as contracts no doubt, and the Santana one is closer to "meh" so I agree with you on those. Overall, TR's main problem is failing to realize when to "go for it" and when to "sell it all", in addition to actually trying to fix the bullpen, sign or trade for a REAL ace or stop relying on guys like Suzuki.
  3. Sneaking out of the neighbors cocktail party (ugh) to come back and catch some of this game, just saw Abad get out of a bases loaded jam. For Rocketpig's sake Twins! The Rotation/Bullpen has actually been solid thus far! Get some god damn runs and get a win!
  4. Escobar! Seriously, I know SSS, Eary Season blah blah blah, but this guy needs to be hitting leadoff for us starting tomorrow!
  5. Don't quit your day (social security? pension?) job?
  6. Gotta get at least one run here. You don't want to get into a bullpen game with this club, especially if you are down.
  7. That or a "topless only" club.
  8. Yeah, Ervin looking "good" will be key for this team, can stabilize a lot of the rotation that is full of some other...question marks/rookies/etc
  9. This is true, I snagged "Sky Suite" tickets for $25 for next Wednesdays game late last night. If the Delta Sky Suite section is anything like the Yankee ones, I think it will end up being a good deal (especially if it is a little chilly out)
  10. Just catching a couple innings now, I am SHOCKED the Twins have only one run thus far.
  11. It's not just Berrios that is blocked from the rotation currently, May and Duffey are currently blocked as well due to Milone, Nolasco etc.
  12. This inconsistency is why I mentioned this offseason and last year why Gibson is the one SP the Twins should be dangling in the trade market the most aggressively. Unlike Hughes, Santana, Nolasco, Gibson is on the cheap and even while he is inconsistent he is a solid 3/4 type pitcher. Additionally that opens up another spot for May, Duffey and Berrios in the rotation as well. (Nolasco, Santana, Hughes are basically unmovable at this stage and Milone won't bring back much) I have to think that you could snag a solid catching prospect and a good RP for Gibson, no?
  13. With the weird ass game on Monday, it's even more important that Gibson is able to "set the tone" and give the Twins a strong 7-8 innings. Gibson is the current Twins starter I feel most confident in day in/day out
  14. Butcher and the Boar is amazing. That Bloody Mary is a little over the top. If you are going to go that far just invite in Hells Kitchen to set up their Bloody Mary bar.
  15. Yeah walker has painted himself into the "DH only" corner as of now. That stacks the odds quite a bit against him.
  16. Yeah this is a good point. If Buxton ends up on pace for the most strikeouts in club history (or even top ten) then he definitely needs to be sent down for some seasoning in AAA. Buxton eventually will be fine, he is always a slow starter, but if he looks like he did in 2015 at some point a month or two into the season you have to think hard about whether or not that is costing games. Ideally he turns a corner soon and we don't have to worry about any of this!
  17. Nobody is getting "wound up" we are simply discussing it, some people agree, some people don't.
  18. And how many playoff games/appearances did those teams make? Just because their last two opening day RF's sucked defensively doesn't mean they needed to make the same mistake. Especially considering they had a guy under contract who would have likely been the best fielding RF in the game when this off-season started. (Hicks)
  19. But neither of those guys are an above average RF, or even an average RF..... (In Hunters case the past couple years) Hicks on the other hand...
  20. Not true, several teams make a lot of money by letting Stub Hub be the "official" 3rd party/reselling partner of the team. But you are correct, the Teams don't see the "difference" it the person selling a $50 ticket for $400
  21. Yeah it really is dumb. I get the reasoning behind it, but that could very easily be fixed/avoided. Just have the majority of the teams open up against divisional foes. That way if a game or two is post poned, you have another 1,000 chances to make it up later in the season. Or you could always just go down to a 158 game schedule and have a couple "make up days" at the end of the regular season.O Or you can keep the 162 game schedule and just give each team 3 or 4 "scheduled" double headers each season, hell do it against big rivals! It would be awesome! That way you then have an extra couple days at the end of the season (prior to the first playoff game) to make up any "needed" make up games. I mean sure, maybe a few 60-70 win teams will only play 160-161 games in a season, but it makes more sense then what happens now!
  22. Best case scenarios: Fien Sucks, Nolasco sucks. Both are gone in a month. Duffey (pen) and Berrios (rotation) take their spots. Kepler tears up AAA Some team gets a 3rd baseman hurt, Sano shows he really can't handle RF. Twins trade Plouffe for a couple prospects. Sano to 3rd, Kepler to RF. Berrios in the rotation and Duffey presents another solid option out of the pen. Ideally the Twins are at least .500 at that stage as well.
