  1. WHIP is just one stat, so no, you didn't prove that their is no evidence of pressure related or fatigue declines. Here are some numbers: 1st half ERA: 2.85 2nd Half ERA: 5.64 1st Half wOBA: .296 2nd half wOBA: .323 In medium and high leverage situations his wOBA .336 In low leverage situations his wOBA: .271 xFIP low leverage: 3.17 xFIP Medium and high leverage: 4.75 Seems to fit into the narrative quite well to be honest...
  2. Gibson has a 10.72 Career ERA against the Yankees, yes, give me Hughes, Duffey, Pelfrey or Milone over him in a one game playoff against them.
  3. You do realize that not all "minimum wage" jobs are fast food related, right? Not even 10% Not sure how you can have a machine replace a landscaper (cost effectively), a low end construction worker (cost effectively), a cook in a restaurant, a waiter in a restraurant, an apartment maintenance guy, a pizza delivery driver, a dockhand etc (and those are just the jobs I did in high school and college for basically minimum wage, and not mentioning the other tens of thousands of other types of minimum wage jobs that exist) And don't fool yourself, if fast food prices go up 20% nearly everyone would still eat there, because most people are still too lazy to eat healthy/make there own lunch to begin with. In fact, places like McDonalds (much like bars) are some of the most recession proof businesses one could own!
  4. My masters is in Economics and I still don't know what he is getting at.
  5. He may be a very good motivator/clubhouse manager, but I'll be damned if he isn't one of the worst in game managers I have seen.
  6. Tough place to put a guy for his first major league at bat. Still a better option then Nunez though, Vargas has to get the at bat there hands down.
  7. Bad loss. I wish we had enough arms available where we could shut down Gibson for the rest of the season, guy can't be relied on. Gotta sweep Detroit now and hope Astros continue to choke (Angels losses help too!)
  8. By my count his last 16 starts now have an ERA somewhere around 5.50. Not good.
  9. What is the point of having Vargas on the roster if you won't use him in situations like this?
  10. No Santana, but giving us another no hit UTIL Inf instead.
  11. WHY THE **** IS NUNEZ PH and not Vargas or Kepler?
  12. You spelled Santana wrong.
  13. I wouldn't count on it TBH, his ERA his last 16 starts is now over 5.50
  14. Glad to see them showing a little fight there at least. Prob too little too late, but a little momentum going into the Tigers series?
  15. He has looked a lot better the last couple games, it looks like for the first time all year he is starting to take pitchers the other way a bit.
  16. I like dozier taking the ball the other way. That wasn't a bad swing
  17. dont have to get them all back here, but would be nice to have the lead down to 3 or 4 by the end of the 5th
  18. Why is he still in this game? Jesus, what is the point of having a 10 man bullpen if you won't pull your starters in situations like this early?
  19. This clunker of a game basically erases the awesome win over kluber last night and allows Cleveland to stay in the race. the Berrios lead staff era can't start soon enough.
  20. Sure as hell doesn't look like it. He has to pull it together a bit for big games, get more consistent otherwise he will be nothing more than an average #4 type. Under no scenario should he be starting the wild card game for this team.
  21. Ball game. Gibson, #4 pitcher. Trade him while you can. What a dissapointment
  22. There is no way Gibson should be pitching in game 163 or the WC game. He chokes every freaking "big" game.
  23. Plouffe and his pouting about every called strike call is getting old. That was a clear strike.
  24. no it's not. It would have been a totally different approach to the at bat by Sano and a different approach by the pitcher in the scenario
