  1. Yet they continue to trot out Nolasco and Hughes 40% of the time, Suzuki 80% of the time and continue to give Jepsen high leverage work. Hmmmmmmm.....
  2. Yup, it's pretty clear that Ryan just really doesn't give a damn anymore and is just coasting towards his eventual retirement (whenever he decides on a whim to hang it up again with little to no notice) There really is no other explanation.
  3. And how is that working out for them this year? Additionally, are you claiming that Pat Dean in the rotation gives them a better shot than Berrios because...oh boy.
  4. Two bad starts, Two decent starts. That is a helluva lot better than whatever Phil Hughes and Nolasco are going to give us going forward.
  5. I can't believe anyone can have watched anyone but Duffey's starts and think they should remain in the MLB rotation.
  6. But Mauer's production more likely than not was due to his concussion..... Hunter and the black hole that he represented in RF last year certainly cost the Twins wins. If they would have signed Nelson Cruz like some of us suggested....than I guarantee the Twins would have found themselves in the playoffs. Dance parties are nice and all, but dance parties don't melt steel beams.
  7. "There is a right way and a wrong way to lose games, we prefer the right way aka the Twins way"- Terry Ryan, probably.
  8. The good news is that if you are sitting in the OF your chances of catching a home run ball served up by Dean will be good. (Ditto if you are at the Hughes game as well)
  9. The only way this move would make even a little bit of sense is if the Twins were "in contention" and were bursting at the seams with quality starting pitchers. Of course that isn't even close to the case, the Twins are the worst team in baseball and currently have guys like Dean, Nolasco and Hughes in the rotation. There literally is no good reason and no real defense for this move. It's dumb, it's terrible, it's something that 28-29 other GM's in the game would never do. The Twins are literally the anti moneyball at this point, I would say it's comical, but honestly it's more depressing than anything. At least in this dumpster fire of a lost season the Twins were worth watching 2 out of 5 days with Duffey and Berrios on the mound. Now we are down to one pitcher who is worth watching. It won't happen, but the fans should boycott the May 21st game.
  10. He pitched pretty decently his two starts prior to yesterdays! Good lord, it's not like he was over-matched or something every time out, yeah, the walks need to come down, but why not have him work on that against MAJOR LEAGUE HITTERS instead of a bunch of bums in AAA? Typical Terry Ryan move to be honest, no patience with the youngsters, anytime something goes wrong its time to hit the panic button, now instead of a young stud pitcher in the rotation we get Terry Ryan's safety blanket of the year (soft throwing pitch to contact type)
  11. Dumb, just dumb. He had two solid starts prior to this one, typical Twins though, anytime a youngster shows a little trouble they send them back down to AAA then let them work it out in the majors, can someone please tell me exactly what would be the issue letting Berrios stay in the majors for another couple starts? Instead we get Pat Dean in the rotation, a guy who will never be in the rotation for a "contending team" and more chances for Phil Hughes to get his ERA below 6.00 Unreal.
  12. Hunter and his poor performance both in the field and at the plate last year likely cost this team a playoff berth. Not having Hunter isn't the reason why the Twins are playing poorly, having a poor GM, Front office and coaching staff are the main culprits.
  13. He definitely was throwing it directly at JoeyBatts face.
  14. 1 and 2.) Give me a break, Bautista didn't charge the mound etc because he isn't a goon and knows his team needs him (if he charges the mound he gets tossed/suspended) He wasn't looking to fight anyone, he had a hard slide into 2nd base, but it wasn't dirty. Also your premise about Bautista being afraid of Bush is hilarious, Joey Bats has 3 inches and 25 pounds on Bush. 3.) Again, give me a break, the reason why Odor is going to get a hefty suspension is because he started a fight and sucker punched a player. 4.) Once again, give me a break. If you think that is just coincidence I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. 5.) When has JoeyBats been a jerk? Other than the "bat toss" which is silly anyways he hasn't been a jerk. Odor is known as a dirty player and had one of the dirtiest slides baseball has seen since Ty Cobb last season. Odor started the fight, he pushed Bautista immediately and punched him. Bautista didn't start the fight, push him first or punch him first. 6.) So?
  15. A lot of men's power in general doesn't peak until their very late 20's and into their 30's. Additionally as many other posters have pointed out, he completely changed his swing 100% Also if it was as simple as "take some PED's and you will go from a 10 HR to a 50 HR guy!" then why wouldn't every late 20's MLB player who were struggling to get playing time, take the PED's hit the 50 HR then get the 100+ million contract? The "maybe he used PED's" excuse is lazy and inflammatory.
  16. The obvious solution is Hughes to the DL or the bullpen, the 2nd obvious solution is Nolasco to the bullpen. The minute Gibson comes back and shows some effectiveness I would be looking to deal him ASAP. He isn't our worst pitcher by any means, but because of his contract he actually is moveable.
  17. Well those fans are going to be left dissapointed more times than not, fights only occur in about 15% of games these days.
  18. For one thing, it's occurring much and much less in Hockey now, and besides, Hockey is a much more physical game then baseball anyways, hard checks, blocked pucks with the body/face/etc are part of the game. I love how people say that a bat flip is wrong, yet a sucker punch and a brawl is "ok". Especially one started by Odor, who is one of the dirtiest players in baseball to begin with. 30 game minimum suspension to Odor, sucker punches can and have killed people, fortunately for his sake he is about 8 inches and 100 pound less than his victim in this case. Still 30 games, minimum.
  19. It wasn't a dirty slide.
  20. Odor is a punk and one of the dirtiest players in all of baseball. He should be suspended 30 games, Bush should be suspended 10 games. This crap needs to end, what did Bautista do again exactly? Oh yeah, he hit a game winning home run against them in the playoffs, clearly that deserves a cheap shot to the face and a bean ball.
  21. False. Tyler Jay, Carlos Guiterez were both 1st rounders I believe, they drafted plenty of others in the 2nd and 3rd rounds as well.Kyle Cody in the 2nd round last year.
  22. With pitchers there are certainly ways to predict which guys will be more injury prone then others, throwing style, body size, pitch selection etc. Drafting RP types in the 1st,2nd or 3rd rounds in general has proven to be a pretty poor use of high draft picks anyways. If a guy isn't good enough to start for his college team, there is a good shot he isn't good enough to stick on a major league team no matter the role. Of course there are exceptions, which is why you take a couple of Those types in the mid rounds, not multiple in the first 3-4 rounds every other year or so.
  23. Yeah, nobody was screaming for the Nolascos and Santana's (and milones) of the world. People liked (I did at least) the original Hughes signing etc because Hughes actually had the upside to be a front of the rotation guy, of course that upside only showed up for one year, but still guys like him are worth the gambles. Paying a bunch of money to guys Like Santana and Nolasco who best case scenario are #3's are a bad use of limited funds. Plenty of us were "screaming" to go resign Liriano after we traded him, that would have been a pretty good use of funds, no? High upside pitcher, would have worked out pretty well no?
  24. Easier for TR to make: milone, Fien, Graham, Buxton etc the scapegoats then to look in the mirror and release you are the problem?
  25. Graham was blocking plenty of players last year, guys like Meyer, Berrios and more could have taken his bullpen spot and contributed. Keeping Graham on the 25 man roster all season long, then trading him one month into the season is just another(minor) example of TR's inability to run a ball club these days.
