  1. I doubt Molitor would take a "promotion" to the front office, which basically would be a token promotion in name only. Pretty sure if the Twins decide not to bring him back, there are several teams that would be more than happy to bring on the first manager to take a 100 loss team and take them to the playoffs 1 year later. Could definitely see Detroit poaching him. I obviously think Mollie should be back regardless, but if he is able to break the Yankee curse? You absolutely positively without a doubt have to bring him back. First manager to advance past round one in the playoffs in what, 15 years? Yeah, you give him a 2 year extension at minimum.
  2. Nice, I used to live a couple stops from the stadium when I first moved to the city about a decade ago. 145th stop (BD train) you in the upper east side?
  3. I'm crossing the east river and will be at the game Section 130 I run the Minnesota Twins/Vikings/Wild NYC meetup group, I know there is a watch party at Jack Doyles in midtown. (They smuggle in Grain Belt even) but that's not near the stadium at all, but if any NYC's are reading this and not going to the game, check it out. I'm working on getting us a section at one of the big bars near the stadium reserved, will keep you posted. Stan's is the best bar, but freaking jam packed and no chance to reserve any spot. There are a couple other spots with more space, I'm going to see if any of them can reserve us some space, it's prob doubtful, but if that doesn't work Billy's is probably the largest one. Ambiance kinda blows, unless you are into weird large sports bars that also try to be clubs. I will likely be at one of those bars with some buddies starting around 5. Also, Yankee stadium security is nuts, I went to the WC game there a couple years ago and it was taking people 1.5+ hours to get into the stadium, things have gotten better, but I would highly recommend planning at least going to the stadium 1 hour prior to first pitch, if you wait to 15-30 minutes before hand there is a good chance you could miss a couple innings.
  4. He definitely should be on both rosters. He can take Colon's spot for the LDS
  5. If you don't celebrate the wins/moments in life, what is the whole point? If this was game 163 and they had a playoff game the next day I would say maybe tone it down, but 6 days before your next game that matters? Party hard boys!
  6. It's a shame it was shut down, because a day or so later Hicks had a monster game: hit a home run and robbed a grand slam.

Sorry semantics, he needs to be going 7+ somewhat more regularly, does that work/sound better? Can't be getting pulled after 5 as much as he has. He is averaging 5.75 IP per start this season, that needs to go up before I consider him anything more than a #3. Also in July, Aug, Sept his numbers have been closer to #5 overall. Lots of games not getting past 5 IP, averaging less than 5 1/3rd IP per start, 4.76 ERA, BB rate up, K rate down. I think the league has made adjustments to him a bit, key now is for him to make adjustements going into next year, that's how you become a front of rotation type guy. Again, I have faith he will do this, and my whole point to begin with is that the Twins got this far WITHOUT Berrios being some shut down type guy.

Yeah I think so too, to be clear though, I think there is a big jump/gap between #2 and #3. That's sort of what i was getting at, before I consider Berrios a #2 he needs to get more consistent and needs to average 7+ innings a start, and a bit lower ERA etc as well. I think he can do it, pitchers always take time.

To be fair I was one of the few saying this team would make the playoffs from the jump.

I'm not belittling him at all! I was saying that it's not like he came on and was some savior Ace for us. He's basically a solid 3 at this stage, which is great! And like I said, I hope he takes the next step because I think he has the upside to be even better (Top Tier #2, low tier ACE)
  11. Thread for TwinsDaily folks to buy/sell to other Twins daily folks. Best to avoid stupid fees/scalpers Anyways I got my playoff strip, section 102, aisle seats. I won't be able to make it into town for the ALDS so I will offer those to anyone who wants them for face value (like $65 each I think) (2 tickets) Note: Game (1) in ALDS might have already been spoken for. Will definitely be at the world series games though if they make it, so don't ask ALCS, prob would only make 1 or 2 games at most.
  12. Because it's just a one game playoff, I imagine you can leave 3 starters off the team (and just have Santana and one of Gibson or Berrios if he fails early) Additionally you should be able to cap bullpen arms a bit as well. This should leave the Twins with a deep bench: Vargas gimenez Garver adrianza Granite Sano Look good?

I didn't call him a number 4, I said he is closer to a 4 then a 2, basically because of his inconsistency. He did take a big step fwd this year, hopefully next year he does the same.
  14. I vote Mauer. I think his example and rejuvenation at the plate has helped the whole lineup top from bottom. Buxton a very close second. Dozier 3rd And a 10 way tie for 4th with rosario, Sano, kepler, polanco, Escobar, Santana, and some of those bullpen arms!
  15. Damn posted from phone so it messed up. Frank is the brown one, 11 years young.
  16. Wow! Can't believe they pulled it off, love it! #crushtheyankees

Not calling you out at all, but wow, if you look at it: out of Berrios, Mejia, Duffey, Jay, etc in your second paragraph its amazing to think the Twins are where they are now, and only Berrios contributed, and even he was closer to a #4 then a #2 (and I'm a big fan of Berrios and his future) Also, Hughes, Santiago gave us zero, and Gibson gave us zero for most of the season. Unreal the Twins are where they are now.
  18. This seems a little bit of a stretch in looking for "good" things Falvey and Levine have done. I'd definitely place it closer to 90% of the success is because they walked into an extremely talent rich roster (at least position player wise) Think of just how good this team could be set up if they would have signed/traded for, found a way to find a real #2/#3 type prior to the season. I will give them time to prove themselves, but IMO they haven't done anything of real note thus far to improve the 2017 Twins or 2018-2020 Twins.
  19. So we adopted this good looking doggo on the left last week, ever since then the Twins have been on fire (ditto with Vikings) Twins win tonight 9-1, and lose tomorrow 7-1 due to the hangover Meet Frank [Viola]

  22. This! Even if the Twins lose 15-0 in the WC game, I will still always remember this as one of the best and enjoyable seasons I have ever followed them. Definitely top 5, top 3 if they somehow beat the Yankees
  23. Full on celebration. Not a lot to celebrate in Twinsville or Minnesotaville in quite some time. Enjoy it kids! You ALL earned it.
  24. Call me a simpleton: I like when teams I root for make the playoffs and give me reason to watch throughout the year. I really like when they do it in years where everyone thought they had no chance. Seems like a weird time to change on the field leadership "just because" I stand by my earlier statement: if Falvey fires Molitor? Pure cowardice/pride, If he keeps him around after this year on the first and ONLY team to make the playoffs after losing 100 games? I will respect that, big time. It shows he is willing to budge/have his opinions change etc that is the true sign of a good leader. Anybody can come in and "fire everyone/clean house" a real leader will adrift where they were maybe wrong early on, come to terms with it, and keep the real assets around. I think they whiffed with Dougie M, I hope they don't. Go 0-2 with Mollie if the Twins happen to not advance to the ALCS or further, mollie deseges one more year, period.
