  1. I believe that Colabello has to be a DH/RH off the bench for this team. He's earned it this spring, and I am certainly happy for him that he wanted to stay here instead of Korea. I heard Gardy talk about keeping 13 pitchers and now 2 utility infielders, which will just kill our bench.
  2. The battle is on between Gibson and Deduno, lots of red in the Diamond/Worley category. Gardy said he wanted Deduno, starting or in the pen. I think I'd love him in the pen. I'd send Pressly back to AAA for a while. Then you get to keep Gibson as the 5th starter and jettison Diamond and Worley. The end of Worley certainly came from me after his last start and was just punctuated about the wind complaints.
  3. Sounds like Gardy is tired of the slim pickings of the past.
  4. I'd certainly do it if he would take 3/$33 or $36. You cannot have enough starting pitching as we have seen over the past couple of years. I would see Santana as an upgrade on Correia and this signing would push Correia out faster, especially if he continues his good spring.
  5. Still wish we had a veteran pitcher like Carl to help with the younger guys. My daughter who now watches the Twins games with me, started by always asking if the "Stache" was pitching
  6. Kind of surprised about Meyer, but probably want to stretch him out since he won't get many starts in big league camp
  7. I disagree, our bench has been atrocious the last couple of years and I believe Colabello is a good RH bench player who can DH against lefties and spell Arcia or Parmalee
  8. I fully expect the Twins to compete for a playoff spot next year. Heck, they may be able to "improve" to third in the division ahead of Cleveland and Chicago this year. Detroit is getting older and I expect more aggressiveness on the FA market this offseason. KC may be the team to beat.
  9. At this point, I would lové to give him a shot in the pen if someone would take Duensing off our hands. Johnson and Thielbar in the same pen would certainly be a great story
  10. I really believe that they should give Pinto the backup and DH, he still would play 5-6 times a week. At this point, barring a trade of Correia, I think Gibson should stick and see what we have. For 2014 As a fan, here is what I'd like to see: Nolasco, Hughes, Pelf, Correia and Gibson Perk, Burton, Fien, Swarzak, Theilbar, Duensing and Deduno Suzuki and Pinto Mauer, Dozier, Florimon/Escobar, Plouffe Hammer, Parms, Hicks, Arcia and Presley Colabello At this point does it really matter if we lose Diamond or Worley? Are they really ever going to be a part of the contending team next year? I certainly don't want to lose Parms for nothing because I can at least see him as a 4th OF and LH bench bat on a contending team which is not the case for Diamond or Worley. I even think that Colabello off the bench and occasional DH against lefties will be useful in the future. I would even consider switching out Pressly for Deduno, but Pressly has been shaky so far. I also don't see the need for an extra utility player in the INF besides Escobar. Parms or Colabello can back up Joe, Escobar can cover the other three positions and Dozier can play SS in a pinch. If Florimon isn't ready, I would consider taking Bartlett or Bernier as utility players. Our bench and DH have been atrocious lately, so having RH Pinto and Colabello and one of the LH OFs would actually be a pretty nice bench and DH combo to go with Escobar. I took Presley over Kubel just because he can play CF. I want them to bring the best 25 north with them regardless of option status after the previous disastrous seasons. I'm not advocating for Meyer, Buxton or even Santana at the moment, but we need to stop demoting players just because they have options in my opinion.
  11. I really liked Gibson when I watched him the other day and would love to see him stick and Worley in the pen. Maybe Deduno starts on the DL. I'm not convinced Diamond would be claimed if he was designated, pretty sure Deduno and Worley would though. Pressly has had a tough start to the spring, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets sent out. I am praying they go with 12 pitchers with the additions of Nolasco and Hughes, who should eat a lot of innings up. Hate only having 2 bench players (Backup catcher being held out).
  12. I really like what I saw from Gibson in his last outing, ball moving all over. I'd love to keep Gibson in the rotation and maybe put Worley in the pen. I'm also beginning to think that Pressly may get sent to Rochester. Pen of Perk, Burton, Fien, Swarzak, Thielbar, Duensing and Worley. Leaves Deduno and Diamond the odd men out.
  13. I long for the days of Guzie at this point.
  14. I guess I don't see the logic of not starting Hicks. Learn on the job and as long as he has matured, he should be in CF until Buxton comes. Then Hicks can move A corner spots. I like Presley as a 4th OF. It's time for Mastro and Ramirez to go, so keep Hammer, Hicks, Arcia, Presley and Parmalee. I think same thing goes for Pinto, why not get some experience and see if he is the future, and if not, we have some other options working up the system
  15. Agreed. There should be no bitching about the "cheap Pohlads" after this offseason. I am certainly looking forward to a competent starting staff this year
  16. really, not spending money, come on I do agree that Garza may not be worth the contract
  17. I have the opposite view, they have already beat my meager expectations coming into the offseason. We actually have a credible (not great) starting staff now. The offense still looks troublesome, but I can wait for the youngsters to get up with the big club.
  18. Maestro because Hicks will hopefully be in Minny and Presley as a backup
  19. With this move and Meyer coming up, would the Twins consider moving Gibson for some offense? Since Gibson has options, he won't make the team out of Florida.
  20. I like the signing. Since Doumit doesn't want to C anymore, I don't see his value anymore. I would think the Brewers would certainly have interest in Parmalee
  21. Kemp told that he would no be traded according to the MLBTrade Rumors
  22. Didn't Wolfson say no offers out when Nolasco signed?
  23. I will tell you this. The signings this offseason have certainly raised the excitement level above ambivalent. I think we are going to be a much more competent team than the last two years. I would sure love to get the kids a half a season of playing time in the majors. Hell, we could still get second in the division and be 20 games back.
