Major League Baseball announced on Friday that Scott Diamond has been suspended six games and fined an undisclosed amount for "throwing a pitch in the head area" of Josh Hamilton on Thursday. He will appeal the suspension. Diamond appeared to be defending his teammate Joe Mauer who was drilled in the back by Roy Oswalt in the previous inning, and was immediately ejected from Thursday's contest. As with most suspensions of starting pitchers, it will have very little impact on the hurler, who will simply have his next start pushed back a couple of days.
