  1. Listening to Provus, he sounds like he’s saying farewell to Bader.
  2. The biggest thing the Twins will get for any players with expiring contracts is…..salary relief. That is why I’m not excited about the great sell off. I actually will be happy for the guys who get traded because they will get to play for a contender. I can’t get excited about seeing Martin, McCusker, Julien, Eeles or Sabato. Some of the pitchers in the minors are intriguing. If they trade a player under team control, they might get somebody back that can help them.
  3. Not really surprised about Buxton, but it is still disappointing.
  4. No lineup. My guess is they are waiting to see if #25 can start.
  5. Are you commenting about Lee? He chases a lot and that yields bad at-bats. Puck wasn’t very selective, but always made decent contact. In his career he had less walks and strikeouts than average. Newman was bereft of power (Lee is probably a bit below average) but also made contact a decent amount of the time. I don’t remember Newman as particularly prone to chase.
  6. Agree with the post by @Riverbrian. Position player development has been problematic whatever the reason. The WAR accumulated by Twins position players this year has been among the lowest in baseball and on balance the team has been pretty healthy this year. Truthfully, I don't see much help at Triple A, so a retooling seems to be in order.
  7. The consensus seems to be a major reshuffle for the Twins. I can’t say that I blame the diehard fan base for feeling that way. I hope the Twins get lucky in selling off expiring contracts and acquire some guy who helps them soon, but it is truly a lottery ticket. Selling a controllable asset is a bit bigger deal. I wouldn’t be opposed to one guy who is under team control sent out for good to elite talent in return.
  8. I don't see Keaschall playing anywhere on the field but second base in 2025. There is a fair chance that he will be tried at more positions next year, particularly if he continues to hit well. He hadn’t totally recovered arm strength prior to the broken bone and he could not continue his rehab plan while waiting for the bone to heal.
  9. I swear I typed both the comment about Correa and the base loaded before they happened.
  10. Willi has been on a GDP bender, but this time he beat the relay. It does set Correa up to do the same thing.
  11. Keirsey Jr. with the oppo taco. Rocco is a genius.
  12. After getting squeezed and getting behind in the count. Sim worked out of it again.
  13. Yeah, he's a marked man, but I really doubt they would sit him three consecutive days.
  14. I see nothing about Bader on the injury report. He has been striking out a lot lately, but has been getting his hits.
  15. What can you do? He's their best position player and it would appear he should be back in a day or two. Sitting Buxton an for the full 10-day IL stint when he's supposed to be back after 3-4 days would be a mistake. I know that injuries have lingered with Buxton in the past, but if their best information is that he'll be in the lineup tomorrow or Wednesday, it is the right call to play short for a couple of days.
  16. Nice job Sim. I was afraid of a crooked number after the first two reached.
  17. Lee quit hitting and found the bench for a team that was ostensibly trying to make it to postseason. He's still sixth in plate appearances on the team. Even though he hasn't started regularly lately he is on course to reach almost 500 plate appearances--that is considered full-time. A month ago I thought that he had shown enough to be a near-regular rotating between the three infield positions, but his slump has dimmed my hopes for him.
  18. I'm totally frustrated by this team. The performance on the field has been uneven, uninspired, unclutch and unremarkable. The manager could and should pay the price but I don't think any manager would turn this club around. As far as personnel, Lee, Wallner and lately Larnach have not done the job. Correa has given every sign of a prematurely aging star and Buxton had a rough patch culminating with an injury (hopefully minor). Reinforcements from St. Paul likely won't do much but it makes total sense to change for the sake of change at this point. I like the pitching staff and their production a lot more than the position players. Maybe there's room to trade an arm to enhance talent to help the team in the future. Griffin Jax's is not unlike the Twins. Early struggles, then a really nice stretch and when the season is on the line disappointment.
  19. Good article. Summarizes the risk and reward of trading relief pitchers. Stewart is really good when he can get to the mound, but very fragile, which explains his career to this point. The Twins have done a good job in not overusing him, but I still see him as a time bomb for injury. To the point, in making a trade, would trading Stewart bring back more than keeping him? I honestly don't think so.
  20. I've liked Castro since he was signed after being non-tendered by the Tigers. In 2023, he was off-the-charts effective and his defense and base running contributed greatly to the Twins' success. While his hitting is better, he has helped the team less on the bases and in the field in the past two years with regular playing time. By himself, on an expiring contract, he won't net a surefire prospect. He's been a good player who was acquired for basically nothing--a real win for the Twins--and his versatility has been valuable for the team, but I think he can be replaced by a lower paid player in the future.
  21. Per Aaron Gleeman--Jefffers on the Paternity List and Mickey Gasper added. Gasper has been slumping at St. Paul. His OPS is down considerably and he hasn't done much since returning from the Injured List at St. Paul.
