  1. I wasn't going to see much of the game anyway. It's Agents of SHIELD night. Go A's! Go, Mariners!
  2. Back when I was a wee tot programmer, we gave nicknames to folks based on the programming language they favored; e.g, Fortran weenie, C dweeb, Ada puke, Assembly language zen master. Nerd was something you might call a LISP programmer. Just sayin. Been all of them.
  3. Most serious. As serious as rain in Cleveland.
  4. Here's one I think you'll like; Newton's Laws (and many others) can be derived from something called The Principle of Least Action. Look it up if you overcome inertia.
  5. Out of curiosity, how large a family do you need to support, though? Circumstances are not all equivalent.
  6. Actually days don't stay the same length. They are (very) gradually getting longer as the Earth's rotation slows down due to tidal friction. Gravitational coupling with the Moon, dontcha know? So in return the moon is moving further away. Angular momentum is once again conserved. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tidal_acceleration
  7. Agreed. That day really stung, despite the libations.
  8. I'm in.
  9. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2ZpikP060A
  10. Toyota commercials. Oh, and me.
  11. Matt Damon will be there on Friday.
  12. There's an Alaska joke hiding here somewhere. But I'll not be the first.
  13. Yes, extremophiles are surprisingly found all over on Earth. Right now the Cassini problem is sampling Titan's atmosphere, and will visit Enceladus soon. I like the chances.
  14. Eddie fearless on the base paths.
  15. Not bad, guys. Don't let up.
  16. "80 Years from now when I'm the oldest person on earth..." You mean except for Sid Hartman and Abe Vigoda, of course.
  17. And coming from me, that's saying something. However, I bet Brock will like this, if he doesn't already know about it. Bad.horse http://www.theverge.com/tldr/2015/9/25/9398889/dr-horrible-traceroute-bad-horse
  18. They all look alike.
  19. Well, there's still the magnetic field problem. But, yeah, this brings the discovery of some kind of life (at least vestigial) much, much closer, I have to think. I still have high hopes for Titan and Enceladus.
  20. We're really a bunch of hard-core cynics, aren't we?
  21. Hunter tried it earlier this year, with predictable results. Rosario came close the way he scored on the Dozier popup (last week?). Perhaps Buxton will revive the art.
  22. I just like to look at the pictures.
  23. Gram and Schmidt have left the building.
