  1. Nothing like the thrill and excitement of opening day baseball.
  2. Le retard délai de pluie suce.
  3. I think I missed the real entertainment. Thanks for pausing the game for me.
  4. Head home at 4:00, stop at liquor store; should make it back around 3-4th innings. Could be worse.
  5. The only good thing that came out of that episode was the promised introduction of The Kingdom. That will be my Season 7 highlight, I think.
  6. Happy Square Root Day! I hear the Twins might be playing too.
  7. I think the left-handed batters will be especially important given the right-handed dominant rotations of KC, Cleveland, and Detroit. The more Eddie shines, the better the Twins' fortunes.
  8. Okay, this is a long read, but there's a lot of insight, at least I thought so. Language may not be appropriate for all age groups. http://www.stirjournal.com/2016/04/01/i-know-why-poor-whites-chant-trump-trump-trump/
  9. A Ballad of Baseball Burdens - Franklin Pierce Adams The burden of hard hitting. Slug away Like Honus Wagner or like Tyrus Cobb. Else fandom shouteth: “Who said you could play? Back to the jasper league, you minor slob!” Swat, hit, connect, line out, get on the job. Else you shall feel the brunt of fandom’s ire Biff, bang it, clout it, hit it on the knob— This is the end of every fan’s desire. The burden of good pitching. Curved or straight. Or in or out, or haply up or down, To puzzle him that standeth by the plate, To lessen, so to speak, his bat-renoun: Like Christy Mathewson or Miner Brown, So pitch that every man can but admire And offer you the freedom of the town— This is the end of every fan’s desire. The burden of loud cheering. O the sounds! The tumult and the shouting from the throats Of forty thousand at the Polo Grounds Sitting, ay, standing sans their hats and coats. A mighty cheer that possibly denotes That Cub or Pirate fat is in the fire; Or, as H. James would say, We’ve got their goats— This is the end of every fan’s desire. The burden of a pennant. O the hope, The tenuous hope, the hope that’s half a fear, The lengthy season and the boundless dope, And the bromidic; “Wait until next year.” O dread disgrace of trailing in the rear, O Piece of Bunting, flying high and higher That next October it shall flutter here: This is the end of every fan’s desire. ENVOY Ah, Fans, let not the Quarry but the Chase Be that to which most fondly we aspire! For us not Stake, but Game; not Goal, but Race— THIS is the end of every fan’s desire.
  10. Good question. Usually the day after an opener is left open for just this situation, so if the Monday game is postponed they'd try to play it Tuesday
  11. Today marks the 20th anniversary of National Poetry Month. https://www.poets.org/national-poetry-month/home
  12. Sounds like there will be rain Monday, so unknown at this point.
  13. The Central Division kneels before the Twins.
  14. Maybe. Depends on the statistics.
  15. Although I'd argue that the higher quality generally offsets the higher quantity. I'm looking at you, The Mask, Spawn, Dolph Lundgren Punisher, Batman & Robin, Meteor Man, Darkman, The Phantom, The Shadow, Howard the Duck (although I have a weak spot for that one).... Edit -- How could I forget Swamp Thing???
  16. Mr. Host with the Most: For game threading, is Red or White the preferred choice of Whine? It's getting close to being serious now.
  17. I guess the obvious question is "Who then, does?" And the follow-up "How can I use that information for voting guidance?"
