Felix's 11 a.m. (yawn!) start against Birmingham's Barons on Wednesday was quite good through 6 innings: 2 runs on 3 hits and 1 walk, with one of those hits being a second-inning homer that followed the walk. Unfortunately, the Barons scored 6 in the top of the 7th inning, changing a 6-2 deficit into an 8-6 lead that the bad guys maintained through the remainder of the game. Felix was charged with 3 of those, making a total of 5 earned runs for the game. He could have had better luck that inning - he left in the seventh with the bases loaded and 1 out and no runs in yet, having thrown his 101st pitch - but the bullpen not only couldn't hold the fort, they let the opponents completely overrun it. Only 4 hits and 3 walks - 5 earned runs sound kind of high for that, doesn't it? Sometimes you pitch a good game and lose. That's baseball.
