  1. Burdi, but he's doing his practice throws in Chattanooga.
  2. Modern orthodoxy has the bullpen taking over now.
  3. Noooo! Last time someone woke him prematurely from a nap was The Great Bannination of '14.
  4. Did you hear about the guy who invented Lifesavers? They say he made a mint.
  5. Posts predicated on stimulated emission are always going to be a tightrope walk on this website.
  6. Impossible to tell, since we know it happened exactly at home plate. #heisenberguncertainty / geek wars with SampleSize - which at the end of the day I'm guaranteed to lose
  7. I was thinking Archie&Betty comics but would be open to better suggestions.
  8. Berrios must have been sitting on the bench eating CornNuts and reading comic books when Ervin pitched last season.
  9. And then Mauer follows up with a good snag. Nothing earth-shaking about guarding the line against a lefty, but he was where he needed to be and then made a deft grab.
  10. Brvty s th sl f wt. -- Wlm Shkspr, Hmlt
  11. “A good friend will help you move, but a true friend will help you move a body.”
  12. I found it on the internet. Link / ninja'd by SSOO
  13. This is why this BS artist is so out of his element. He thinks he's inscrutable, and he's just not.
  14. Now we're playing Can You Top This (Non-Analytic Reasoning Bracket)? OK, ultimately, the season is about which team wins the final game of the postseason. I'm in agreement Phil Hughes isn't the most pressing concern at the moment. Just messin' with you, on an unexpected tack you took.
  15. As "stepdad" for Adopt-A-Prospect Ben Rortvedt I would just like to point out that he had the best base hit, a double, against a pitcher clearly on his game last night against Cedar Rapids. I haven't had too many chances to woof for my player, so I'll take any opportunity I can.
  16. This might be the least analytic thing I've ever seen from you. The analytic mindset isn't primarily about numbers, it's about breaking down a system and identifying what's going right and what's going wrong. Giving Hughes a pass in this particular way is remarkable.
  17. I went to bed last night seeing the Twins clinging to a shaky 7-6 lead, dreading what dumpster fire I would read in the box score this morning. Lo and behold: four hitless innings of relief work? That is a relief. (Granting that Belisle didn't exactly cover himself in honors with the three batters he faced.) I've been slow to acknowledge Brandon Kintzler as any kind of major league pitcher, but I guess I have to finally climb on the bandwagon. Speaking of Matt, his photo on b-r.com makes him look a bit like the second coming of Scott Baker. An older, fatter Scott Baker than I remember: http://d3k2oh6evki4b7.cloudfront.net/req/201704071/images/headshots/1/15751c99_mlbam.jpg
