  1. I had no quarrel with how he took third base. But then that lack of hustle going home. Luckily he touched the plate in time.
  2. Sano made a poor turn at third, probably costing him a step.
  3. Buxton loafs it into second. Fine him!
  4. Maybe. But I'm with Chief on being aggressive in that situation, and Sano wasn't on the same page whatsoever, IMO. Short of insubordinate, but you have to go hard, and let the base coach make those decisions. Sano's got major league speed. I'd think differently if it were, say, Mauer.
  5. I just figured out what that ugly Arizona snake head was reminding me of.
  6. It looked like Sano was Lollygagging from second to third and didn't notice Glynn was asking for wheels until too late.
  7. OK, what happened at third base to result in something that bad? Glynn really waved Sano home?
  8. Gilbert & Sullivan, George Bernard Shaw, and Tom Swifties, all in one thread.
  9. Looks like you'll have to tell us.
  10. "The size of those cobs is a-maize-ing!" Chief joked cornily.* * Stolen from Tom Swift.
  11. Now THAT'S not half-assing it, Byron!
  12. Sure. Yep, yep. That's exactly what I was doing. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NWjlz4sbJnc/T3OpkWxrxwI/AAAAAAAAA4I/XgVWZFXbhrs/s220/cool-story-bro-chair-gif.gif
  13. Wait, you endorse letting him half-ass it through a season?
  14. Quoting my own post to add spice, I'm happy to be proved incorrect by a standup triple.
  15. Buxton's gonna have trouble all night against this guy. Too much motion on all his pitches.
  16. Correlates to pitching from the stretch.
  17. That post wins the No-Bell Prize, because it sure didn't ring my chimes.
  18. It's not even the money, by this point. I wouldn't have him on my roster next year even if he agreed to a league-minimum contract, if that were allowed by the CBA without first being cut loose. Maybe I'd consider him if he offered some kind of under-the-table illegal kickback resulting in a significant net-negative salary. Maybe.
  19. Right. Even if the intent is a direct replacement of Gibson with Slegers in the rotation, sending Slegers back per the 26th man rule for the intervening time provides a few days of roster flexibility. Picky question: to add Slegers as the 26th man, he had to be added to the 40-man roster first. As he returns to the Rochester roster, does this exercise one of his three options? Not that I want to be overly concerned with options management on a 24-year old, but it seems worth knowing. Gibby already had his option exercised for 2017, so that might be the only argument for sending him down now instead of Slegers. ... Not that I want to be overly concerned with options management for Kyle Freaking Gibson either.
  20. "I often quote myself; it adds spice to my conversation." -- George Bernard Shaw
  21. This is why I was saying from the start to give him time to develop as a decent third baseman. Some things come only from experience, but plays like that are either there from the start or never. He's not the complete package yet, and I wouldn't try to defend him as league average, but he's coming along.
