  1. Young.
  2. In the end, Derek Jeter is about to retire and leave the Yankees absolutely empty-handed.
  3. Obligatory shout-out to our shared alma mater, Butler University.
  4. Awesome book title, containing two double-entendres (unless I am not hip enough to notice there are others).
  5. High schoolers get drafted all the time, and if they elect not to sign they go to junior college or whatever and are drafted in some future year. Is Aiken's situation different?
  6. The Twins' roster for the past several seasons reflects what can happen when a team says "if all else fails he can DH" for more than one or two players. IMO you have to be very selective in making that judgement, i.e. only for players whose bats are far above the norm. The Doumits and the Romeros don't cut it for me.
  7. I would like to sincerely apologize to Mr. Cano for my having put a 2-strikeout hex on him by picking him in this contest.
  8. "Trade me once, shame on you, ..."?
  9. He was Chief Master Sergeant in the Air Force before there was an Air Force, that takes some doing.
  10. No DUH involved, like I said it's easy to miss - looks like a totally different web designer did the work on the MLB and MiLB pages. I think I was unaware of it until a few months ago, meaning it's either a relatively new addition or else I had missed it all this time. Another pro-tip: if you want a custom (cherry picked ) set of stats over a period of time, go to the gamelog, click the first game you are interested in and it will highlight the line in light blue, then go down to the last game of the sequence and do a Shift-mouseclick, and it will do a computation and give you the stat line for the time period. Pretty slick. That way if you want a number of days the Splits section doesn't offer, you can DIY.
  11. If you mean minor league stats for a player, go to his minor league page and look for "Gamelogs & Splits" and pick the year you want. It's easy to miss. Not as elaborate as for the majors, but it's something.
  12. The first five you name have a chance to bring back a prospect, even if the ceiling is "ML utility player for a few seasons". If you include Duensing, he remains the cliched sweetener to some other deal, and then I suggest most of the other guys in the bullpen with significant service time, namely Guerrier, Burton, and Swarzak, should be on the table as well. A team that likes FIP may give Swarzak a look, while one that likes ERA would lean toward Duensing. A team needing a short term solution might like Guerrier's numbers. The Dodgers might give us another Sulbaran for Burton. Fien does belong in your first list because his numbers across the board look strong and he might fetch an actual prospect - he's the one guy a team might acquire both because they need him and they don't want a rival to get him cheaply. I don't mean to hold a fire sale and dispose of all the bullpen. We have young guys ready but not an infinite supply. (Until the recent draft of hordes of relief arms starts to come through the pipeline. )
  13. I think the difference in this game was we got to their bullpen before they got to ours.
  14. Welp, Perk makes it interesting by having to pitch to Cano, but: Winnah!
  15. Thanks. This is ESPN's illuminating recap: K Seager hit sacrifice fly to left, E Chavez scored, J Jones to third.
  16. Wait, I'm just following along on ESPN.com's play by play: how did the third out occur, after Seager hit the sac fly?
  17. I finally get down to here and see that my previous posts were in vain.
  18. You've picked up that What The Heavens formulation from the Mauer family too?
  19. Seen anybody you want in return? Well, realistically I mean - Zunino probably would require a lefty relief pitcher to be thrown in.
  20. Make sure the pay is in Euros and not Lire.
  21. I give you another 30 years before you start to revisit this sunny outlook.
