  1. Oh gawd.... we spent the entire game last night discussing fabric for curtains. For real. (I almost said seriously, but there were jokes sprinkled in.)
  2. "Somebody got a hit with a man in scoring position." -- Dick Bremer
  3. I think I may have seriously misunderestimated your skill set. / channeling Yogi a little there...
  4. As long as he doesn't stop refraining from failing to miss the ball, I don't see how the organization can refuse to not grant his evident lack of wish to no longer remain with the AAA club. / edit - oh, I see Brian said the same thing but somehow managed to post it quicker
  5. I'd love it if you would elaborate a little on this. I presume you are not scouting things like arm angle and consistent release point and so forth. And all the players in this game are well known and have dossiers a mile long. What will you be looking for?
  6. Jack, 1) if you were GM of a team, how much weight would you put on the analytics you currently do, versus fundamental scouting reports and other forms of input? 2) Do you ever play Out Of The Park baseball game, and how ridiculously unrealistic is it from your POV?
  7. I'd like to remind folks, the cheap laughs were mostly before this generous offer. / moderatin'...
  8. I stopped drinking heavily after that episode.
  9. The sun shines in Seattle only at night, when it is already dark.
  10. baseball-reference.com has gamelogs for minor leaguers. Here are the links for these two players: http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=may---001tre&type=pgl&year=2014 http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=may---001tre&type=pgl&year=2014 You'll see that Trevor was routinely being allowed to throw 90-100 pitches, until his last game which was in the 80s and he was shut down, while Alex has been kept to mostly the 70s until his most recent two starts where he got into the 80s and then the 90s. Read into that what you will.
  11. Ashburyjohn: ...and I have 30+ years' experience working for a variety of ... Goin: Wait, aren't you the guy that issued me a ban that one time?
  12. “He says, ‘What the heavens are going to happen next?'" He does? WTH?
  13. Seems like a FIP comment should be appropriate but I can't quite think what.
  14. The tip to check out Gordon caused me to notice that the second position player chosen this past June, Max Murphy, is even more killing the ball, batting .424 including 5 HR in 77 PA, for a positively sick 1.350 OPS. Don't talk to me about SSS - move over Byron Buxton, this guy plays CF too.
  15. Thanks for the home decorating tips, everyone!
  16. 39 year old Jamey Carroll pinch running for Plouffe some ninth inning last season was also memorable. And humiliating I'm sure.
  17. Some insurance runs would be nice.
  18. Clicked Like because there is no Uffda button.
  19. I'm the one who'll be doing the recanting, I'm pretty sure.
  20. Good one. I'll let you tell that to Mrs Ashbury sometime.
  21. Thanks to our worthless #3 hitter, the scoring onslaught has ended. "Past results do not guarantee future performance," Gardy.
